Any way you could make something like this for Android? Most androids are so much more powerful than any of the apple stuff, it would allow you to do a whole lot more than you could on itouch. Plus you could make a lot more money putting it on Android market as well.
That aside, frickin awesome! Would love to get my hands on that.
Just bought it- love it, but use SimFinger for your next demo, so we can see! Any chance of you releasing the engine for the rest of us to learn from?
@mshotnfunny Thanks for your comment. I will try to make my next demo video a little better. As for releasing the source, I will have to see, it's still a difficult decision to make. I've spent quite some time working to make it fast enough for the iPhone, I've still made less than 20 dollars. But if you really want to learn, check out my other videos, as they provide quite a few hints to the methods I'm using and the benefits of the different methods. It might be even better than the source.
@kotsoft I think worries about releasing the source are unfounded: competition already exists (Aqua Forest, FluidToy, FlOOid, Autodesk's Fluid) and Stam's paper and the Navier-Stokes equation are available freely. As you've seen, making money with an app is hard. I'd say you'd do far better licensing the engine (you could sell it for $20 and double your app income in a day) then your work could gain exposure in other's games and apps (as Unity, SIO2, Torque etc do license their 3d engines.)
@kotsoft PS:Jeff a t JeffWolverton d o t com if you'd like to discuss further (that was me commenting from my partner MsHotNFunny's account earlier, by the way!)
@rockcabbage the version that is available on the app store is 0.1. Version 0.2, which is waiting for approval introduces some significant speed improvements. You can check my 0.2 video to see it running on the 2G, which is even slower than the iPod Touch. The app store kind of makes it difficult to make small updates, because each update takes a week to get approved, and then you don't want to code too much stuff and then get rejected. Anyway, .2 should be approved in a few days, hopefully.
Great work, can you tell me you use engine that you wrote by yourself or some open source engine?

Awesome tech. Can you link a paper that describes the PIC method you mention? I only see ones relating to plasma simulation.

Can you tap dance on it?

That's very neat simulation. That's the grid method right? I'm assuming you cant make a rigid body if I understand your method correctly.
I'm planning on porting my engine on iPhone as well (which I've done before as well but never fluid). See my video for the engine.
Good luck with your progress :)

Nice work on the particles? How does it handle so many collisions? How many particles?
hacegreen 1 year ago
@hacegreen There are 5000 particles. I'm using the Particle in Cell (with some modifications) method of fluid simulation.

Caution, this does not look nearly as nice on Ipod Touch, Iphone apparently runs it much smoother!, Still, this is my favorite app.
