after doing the overheating in 20 minutes put it in the freezer for 20 minutes and then let it be in room temp in like 15 minutes :) worked for me and i had the same problem that you had

i actually think smaller is better for gaming, i now use a 22" computer monitor with a VGA cable, which looks just as good as an HDTV, and its widescreen too. I wouldn't go higher than 26" for gaming. but i sit right in front of the screen, so maybe itd be different if you sit real far back

dude u had 4 rings which means plug the cords in...btw if u want to do this wrap it in 3 towels good for 25 minutes turned on....then remove towels and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes than play for a while before it crashes again...mine usually shuts off during the heat up

yeah i would suggest that too if you're willing to pay $40 for a fan. the way i see it, each indivisual 360 is destined to work flawless, break a once or twice, or break beyond control. a fan might help, but i think that it has to more to do with than ventilation.
good for you, my friend is the same way. he got one of the first 360s that came out, and he's never sent his in. his isn't particulary well ventilated. it's pretty much just luck if yours breaks or not. you would have to have really bad ventilation for it to RROD your 360.
i dont think that is the primary reason the 360s are breaking. there is about a foot of space between my wall and the 360 PLUS my room is about 5-10 degrees colder in the winter, and this happened in the Fall, so it was pretty cool in my room. That is the reason for SOME hardware failure, but not the majority.

what it's *supposed* to do is expand the wires (because things expand when they're hotter), thus reconnecting them. i have a feeling that the problem is not that the wires are getting disconnected, but it seems to work anyways.
you have the 360 elite. many of the problems with the 360 are with the premiums that came out the first 6 months or so back in 05-06. also not all 360s are going to overheat, even if they're played a lot. you just got a good console, and the area where your 360 is probably well ventilated.

that was only there because i didnt have the cables plugged in. the 4 quads lit up means that the cables are not plugged in, it does not have any thing to do with a hardware problem.

This is not a RROD, a whole circle just means that your cables are disconnected or broken. RROD is when 3/4 of the ring is red.

what it's *supposed* to do is expand the wires (because things expand when they're hotter), thus reconnecting them. i have a feeling that the problem is not that the wires are getting disconnected, but it seems to work anyways.

ive had an elite for about 1 and a half years and i PLAY HARD. but i dont get the RROD. Then i see RROD on elites on youtube. i dont get it?

you have the 360 elite. many of the problems with the 360 are with the premiums that came out the first 6 months or so back in 05-06. also not all 360s are going to overheat, even if they're played a lot. you just got a good console, and the area where your 360 is probably well ventilated.

ya i did this towel trick for my 360 and it worked after the seccond time and has been working for about 3 months but only under a fan and i also have a intercooler on the back. Dont get pissed off people if it dosnt work for you. This wont fix everyones RRoD

that was only there because i didnt have the cables plugged in. the 4 quads lit up means that the cables are not plugged in, it does not have any thing to do with a hardware problem.
