  • A great feat of engineering and CAN-DO. What's amazing is how simple they really kept everything to reach the goal. An I-POD today can carry 500 % more data and information than the two on-board computers on this ship. Teamwork and training made this happen.

  • 42 years later this remains the farthest man has ventured into space.

  • the greatest achievement of man not counting haveing kids and thanks to women for that

  • I have a lump in my throat! Thanks a lot for this coverage!

  • Thanks for posting this continuous live coverage from the CBS News archives. I remember myself and dozens of other kids in summer band practice watching this that Wednesday morning. Our director (Mr. Moe) hooked up a TV set and we watched as Jack King counted down. Our drummer started a drum roll in the final seconds of countdown. If you get the opportunity, please post more and more TV coverage of the various Apollo, Gemini and Mercury missions as covered live by CBS, NBC and ABC! Thanks again!

  • @bkj333 well he has actually posted up CBS AND NBC coverages of apollo 14, 8, 10, 12 and gemini 9, 6/7, so far.
