  • Thanks so much for sharing!!! We found your site a few weeks ago and now here we are eating better and losing weight =D Thanks xoxo

  • Earlier I was making what I call a "kitchen sink" smoothie. It had everything but: protein (hemp, soy or rice), ground oatmeal, milk (soy, coconut or almond), berries, a banana,

maca, acai powder, raw cacao, flax, chia, stevia, creatine, glutamine, and for greens: Yeyama brand chlorella. Sometimes it tasted good, sometimes not. Felt good, but I couldn't tell if any one thing was doing it: whether it was maca, acai, chlorella, etc. "When it doubt, DON'T leave it out," I figured (LOL).

  • @bixntram

Hi Bix, Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Now that is what I call a kitchen sink smoothie. It comes down to how it feels inside you once ingested. If you don't have digestive probs, that's cool...me, I need to keep them simple so my guts don't fight back! lol

  • Well, Hi there, Lucy! Yeah, that's me. Thanks for calling me a 'lovely fellow,' though I'm far from that. You may inspire me to get back to the green smoothies. I was making them but have sort of dropped the ball (won't go into it here; do you still have the same website?

Loved your music video! Here's my own rather amateurish effort with the New Orleans Brass Band Project. I'm the stocky guy with the trumpet. just type in 'Brattleboro Gallery Walk' on You Tube. Kind regards, Bix

  • Hiya, Bix!! Are you the same lovely fellow who used to drop by the message board?? If so, how nice to see you again & thank you for your comment. My cheerfulness is directly related to green smoothies & raw eating. The more 'leaves' I eat, the happier I feel - no kidding. I stepped back from raw foods & subsequently gained back some weight ... and now am returning to raw more moderately for now so I can acclimate. If I can do it, you can too!

  • WOW, Awesome!! How absolutely wonderful to see you & hear you play music! Now I really feel connected! Thank you so much for sharing that with me. (And you are SO a lovely guy!)

I haven't been tending the board but have been posting inspiring vids to the blog as I (re)gain speed towards taking care of myself in a more focused way again. Let's get back to green smoothies!! I've been faithful to them every day last week and already feel the shift.

  • Hi Mandy86lynn,

Thanks! I am just starting again to take better care of myself. :) I fell off the wagon, so to speak. This time, though, it didn't run me over, lol, so things are improving! ;)

  • I use a commercial blender , just like the ones that are used in bars and restaurants...They rarely break down and the motor is more powerful then the non commercial blenders....

  • Hi freein2339,

That must be awesome! I have finally upgraded to a Vitamix! Weeeee!

    xo

    Rawkin'

  • Wheww, what a pretty lady, and what a smile! Nice video, too, and quite clear and easy to follow.

  • AW ya make a girl blush!! Thank you! And I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!

  • You have a nice warm personality that comes through on video and your information is really good. You should think about making more videos - this one has obviously been quite popular.

  • Hi ParkerAllen2,

What a lovely comment!! I look forward to making more videos, and I thank you so kindly for the encouragement! :)

  • Rawkinroll, you've gotta be one of the most cheerful people I've ever seen! Is that from drinking these shakes? Maybe you'll inspire me; I'm a guy with 55 lbs to lose, and I'm sick of dieting.

Cheers (what am I saying? You don't need it).

  • very nice :D

  • hey this is an excellent video! :D why havnt you done more? i would definately like to see more of you and your bubbly enthuisasm on youtube! thanks for the great smoothie!Xx

  • Hi Nigromancy,

Thanks!! My son 17 year old son video taped me! We had a lot of laughs! For a long while we would just say CHUNKS and crack up! My aim is to do a lot more raw food videos and EFT videos...stay tuned! I have focused my attention elsewhere in the past year, and subsequently, my eating kinda went south!! haha but I am refreshed and re-focused on

  • Good video. I did a green smoothie search because the smoothies that I have made taste horrible!!!!!!! I'll look for some red kale and give it another try.

  • chrisperry88 :) Have you had any better luck? Done 'right', green smoothies should taste not unlike a melted popsicle! :)

You may need to tweak your fruit:leaves ratio...too many leaves makes it taste like the front lawn lol... lemme know...

  • Thanks!

  • LoricaLady, thank YOU! :)

  • I did get it tasting better but was wondering if it was not enough greens because it didnt taste like dirt. LOL. It is still green colored and I have better luck with a little bit of spinach. Thanks.

  • I like her!

And that clumping thing happens to me all the time hahaha!!

  • Hey, thanks, trance212!! I like you too!! :)

Pulse, baby, pulse! I think until I splurge on a state o' the art blender instead of a state of the ark blender, lol, I'm gonna have to use that pulse button to avoid clumping and chunking!

  • Hi rashb,

Thanks for your comment, and suggestion!

I am now a big 'pulser' since this video. lol I guess I expected a lot from this blender (RIP) :)

  • Well, I didn't get a fancy blender, but I DID get a new blender. I have one now that has a 'smoothie' setting, and walla- no more chunks!! Happy New Year, all.... xo Rawkin'

  • Hello RawkinRoll - good luck at Christmas time - I hope you get a Vita-Mix machine.

I cured my "chronic fatigue" with Green Smoothies and burned out two regular blenders in three months before I got mine.

The Green Smoothies changed my life and the Vita-Mix machine changed my Green Smoothie rating from a 4 to a 10 on a 1-10 scale!

I was so thrilled with my Vita-Mix that I became a sales demonstrator for them!!!

  • Check out my "Vita Mix Lady makes Green Ice Cream" videos. My kids love Green Ice Cream as an after school treat!

  • Wow, that's so great!! It really did change your life, health as well as career!! I hope Santa's reading this ;p

    Rawkin'

  • I had to laugh when you found the lumps. <33 Actually, it was nice seeing someone make a green smoothie with a regular blender- chunks and all! I don't think I can quite afford one of those high power blenders that so many of these smoothie vidoes feature... n...n

  • Hahaha yeah, funny, heh? I figured I'd keep it 'real' and leave in the part about the 'chunks'; it cracked me up, too :)

That is a $20 blender, my friend! Christmas IS comin' though... heh heh, er, ho ho ho :)

    Thanks for your comment! :)

  • Actually, I just started making them yesterday and hubby and I love them- but our blender is (woohoo!) about 35$ worth of blender and I find that it's pretty pulpy and I see tiny diced bits of apple or whatnot. It doesn't really bug me, but do you think it'd be finer if I -did- have one of those fancy ones? Do you know?

  • I keep hearing that it would be 'finer', so now I'm kinda rarin' to go out and get one! To make a green smoothie, I think any ol' blender will do...until you feel the need to upgrade. I enjoy my morning smoothies thoroughly, and as I said, I paid $20 for this thing a year ago. But I don't think it's long for this earth ;)

I think to make things with nuts and seeds that need to be crushed finely, one of those fancy ones (like the vitamix or blendtec) would be preferable.

  • I really appreciate you showing us a green smoothie made from a $20 blender. I was frustrated with the cheap blender I bought last year after getting "chunks" in my fruit smoothie. I haven't used it since. Meanwhile, I've been dying to try a green smoothie, so now I'll "dust off" my blender and try your technique until I'm ready to upgrade. Thank you!!

  • Hi, 1CandyGirl :)

Thanks so much for your comment! While I am a believer in the right tool for the job, I also believe in starting where we are. I'm glad to hear you're going for it and not waiting! I think the upgrade will happen sooner that way ;) Enjoy your smoothie!

    All the Best,

    Rawkin'

  • Vitamix and Blendtec are both excellent blenders. Around $400 though. I'm using an Oster Counterforms Blender I picked up at Costco for $50 with no chunks. It has 1000 watts, about 1/3 that of the Blendtec, but enough power I don't think I will get burn out. Gonna use the $350 for something else.

  • I LOVE MY VITA MIX! Best 500 bucks I ever spent. I just bought one for my mom and she also loves it!

  • hi love2bestowe,

That's cool that you bought one for your mom! I like the reliability of my Vitamix, and the no fuss-ness of it....not having to chop fruit down small, whippin' a smoothie into submission in a hurry... :)

    xo

    Rawkin'

  • not to be rude, but that sure wasn't a vitamix she was using in the vid :). i agree with love2, my vitamix was a great investment and i'll be using it the rest of my life. at some point, i might also invest in a norwalk juicer, but that's a long way down the road if at all

  • I'm aware it wasn't a Vitamix she was using. I was responding to the posts above about her getting a new blender and the lumps in her smoothie.

  • I want a juicer next, too. Was looking online at a green star, (twin gear) but honestly, it seemed like a lot of messing around to put it together to start juicing...lots of parts to put in place/to wash, etc. I could be wrong, but the video I saw did the opposite of what the (selling) intention was. They were saying, Wow, so easy, and I'm like, huh? :) lol So now I'll google norwalk, thanks. My pal has an old champion that I get misty over whenever I see it.

    xo

    Rawkin'

  • i have an old champion too and it's a good juicer in it's own right. i find the breville juice fountain elite to be MUCH easier to use and fixes the complaints i had about the champion. anyway, the norwalk is BEAUCOUP bucks, but might be worth it in the long run. cheers :)

  • Oh my gosh, I got a Green Star after all! Found one on craigslist at a great price and decided to quit dickin' around and go for it. I haven't used it yet so maybe it will be hell cleaning it, lol, but I'm over the moon at having it so it'll be a honeymoon period before I start whining about it! Life is good!!

    xo

    Rawkin'

  • Hi augiebrooks,

Using the $350 for something else sounds like a hell of a plan! :) Me, I finally splurged on a Vitamix and I love it. :)

    Enjoy your smoothies!

    xo

    Rawkin'

  • Wow- you look great! I'm glad the green smoothies are working out for you and your kids.

  • Thank you so much, falafestand! How kind of you! Smoothies rawk!! :)
