Croatiia will never forget your mum Mia! We are very proud of her. She is born in the same place I come from and the people there and my mum always talk about her greatness. But I am sad about that the documentary of her life will be in english so my mother need a perfect translate.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. It has been a wonderful discovery to see that Mia is remembered in her beloved Croatia. There will be subtitles in Croatian, so not to worry, your mother will be able to understand. Thank you for your support!
I was one of Mia students first at Cal Arts in the early eighties then as a private student we were very close all the way up until I got married to a fellow dancer whom Mia said would bring me down, and she was right as always. I miss you Mia, classes with you and Gloria made my life magic- I miss you and I hope your life story will enrich the lives of many as your life and teachings enriched mine. I have kept your technique book as promised and may you dance in heaven.
Thanks so much for your beautiful message. We were curious about the technique book you mentioned. Could you tell us more about it? We also would love to know more about your time with Mia as a student. We are so happy that the Mia's story is opening up so many wonderful stories and connections to her dancers and students.
I shall not rest until I have seen this film. Promises to fulfill all the curiosity, memories, historical preservation issues, etc. as instigated by the wonderful Ballet Russes documentary. Oh, what a drab world we live in today! Thanks for posting the trailer.
So much dance history has been undocumented and unrecorded. This film is a treasure that will add to the history of dance as an art form, and as such is invaluable. If more dance was fortunate enough to have documenters like Kate Johnson and Michael Masucci chronicling it's artists, we would indeed have a rich and unforgettable legacy.
This is an extraordinary documentary by an equally extraordinary pair of filmmakers - Kate Johnson and Michael Masucci. I laud your efforts and really cannot imagine anyone else doing this project.
If you love dance, history and beautifully produced documentary, this is the ticket. I cannot wait to see the completed package. Wow... Who knew from Mia?!? Thank God we will from now on....
All hail Mia Slavenska and the brilliant documentarians - Kate Johnson and Michael Masucci - who are bringing this monumental artist (the Dietrich of dance - ya gotta love it), to passionate life again.
Man if this is just the trailer I can only imagine what the whole documentary will be like. These few bits and pieces are woven together so well that it is like a mini movie...i cant wait to see the whole thing!!!
Intriguing, I'm cuious now! This is definately a story that a lot of people would like to see and should see. Love the cinematography, hope to see more soon. I've watched many YouTube videos but never commented before now, thought this one was really worth it, I hope others feel the same! We need more real clips like this.
Miss Slavenska was one of the greatest classical ballet dancers in history. My parents saw her and never stopped talking about her and praising her dancing. I have seen only short clips of her dancing and I can tell that she was quite exceptional. I am impatient for see this film. Her aura can't die.
She's beautiful:) -Aurora
