  • Wot is the epic brass music from 0:30 and on? sorry I don't watch Star Trek that often

  • I don't thank we seen the last of Kirk

  • i'm confused. was this a scene from star trek 7?

  • the funny thing is that this video has bad quality

  • Are you shittin' me? What CRAP!

  • 55 people are klingons

  • EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its funny cuz this vid is in 240P lol

  • How pissed were the other cast that THEY weren't invited.

Guess the budget could only afford one over-priced actor....

  • there is no way ever ever ever will there be tv programs like the 60's and 70's. Those were the greatest years for tv.

  • i like how they have the next generation theme at the end

  • @cameronman93 sorry guy but that theme is from the original crew movies theme. Next Gen used the movies theme as its own opening theme. I know kind of a bummer but still a good theme for a great show!

  • @cameronman93

    -facepalm-

  • His dead Spock ;) If ya go according to the time line then Kirk is dead. But 1 good thing about time travel is that he's not dead in that sence, because ya can travel back in time and see him alive.

  • Good thing it doesn't get cloudy in space. Otherwise the viewscreen would never work.

  • @heymrk two words: Mutara Nebula.

  • @FishfilmInc I believe you're missing the point.

  • last appearance of the True Kirk

    ps … drop dead JJ

  • @joeylodes

    yep!

Death to JJA, Long live the '90s.

  • Nimoy might as well have been holding out a giant middle finger the whole time.

  • THATS WHAT I CALL ENTERPRISING

  • JJ Abrams and company have failed miserably.

  • Beam my satellite television signal in, Mr. Scotty!

  • we all know that picard is the superior officer

  • I had to watch a commercial to watch a commercial. aint that a bitch.

  • @deridex120 ah the faintly funny, mostly monstrous, albeit laughable experience we call being human!

  • lÕl_ÄNÿ_gUys_wâñt_tö_chÄt_wIth_më

  • As a star wars fan I must say this. Bring back Kirk! and THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING from me!

  • @TheJedimaster6788 me too im a big star wars fan as much as im a star trek one the origional crew was the best

  • Oh by the Great Bird, that entire series of commercials is terrible.

  • Shameless :}

  • I'm sure that Chekov was just dying to add that in addition to quadrotriticale, a Russian also invented HD.

  • awesome lol

  • Thanks (Iguess) for fooling me into watching another "commercial" as if I don't get enough (TOO MUCH) already on regular TV and sadly on "HERE" also That's unjust!

  • ooohhhh... its that what its been reduced to?

  • Of course, this deserves a groan. ;-)

  • Spock is cool!

  • I just died a little inside

  • @StudioOfStirling Me to.

  • FOOPAW!!! That was the TNG theme song playing!

  • @JOmonkeyJO

That's the theme familiar to most people though, and I think more well suited to the ad. That music has actually been around for awhile predating TNG (undergoing just a few slight changes over the years) and it was used in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I think it was an appropriate choice.

  • Funny Rodenbary would laugh him self to death

  • I can’t hear you over how awesome my HDTV sounds!

    Beam up Scotty.

  • @Aurdos Thank you.

  • Does anyone know which of the Star Trek movies this commercial is portraying? I have all of them, but haven't seen them in a while (and my VCR is broken now). In the later movies he was an admiral, so that narrows it down a little. Anyone know? Thanks.

  • @MillerMeteor74 All of this seems to come from The Undiscovered Country. Chekov asking about the shields, Spock's clearing of the throat is a sound effect used when Valeris reminded Kirk about not using impulse engines in Spacedock, etc.

  • @MillerMeteor74 Star Trek VI: the Undiscovered Country.

  • @seebee077 Three of you replied, and I thank you.

  • Looks like they stretched his head out to make him look skinnier.

  • No Kirk, you are not allowed to use Spock's line, but yes, settling for cable would just be downright illogical.

  • i think that kirks death was not good enough because the TOS fans can never be satisfied with any death of kirk

  • @zorokism Alright Shatner, I know that's you. For the last time, WE ARE NOT going to write you back into SAtar Trek!

  • @zorokism All Spock needs is some red matter and time warp back in time and Kirk will still be alive. LOL

  • LOL!

  • Is it just me, or does the white trim on the non-commissioned officer REALLY irriate others as well? Also, it's hard to make out in this vid, but when it was on TV, i was positive Kirk's insignia was wrong.

  • @JakeConhale You're correct. Unfortunately they did not obtain authentic costume pins. The badge is a too-small approximation, and for rank he's wearing various U.S. military pins arranged to suggest the shape of the captain pin. The belt buckle in the final shot may be a superimposed graphic.

  • HA! Good one Kirk ! :)

  • What a dignified swan song. Using your last opportunity to ever play the greatest role of your life to shill some television product. Bravo, Mister Shatner. Bravo.

  • Shatner was wanted in the new film for a cameo but he passed on a cameo and they never bothered to work on giving him a bigger role.

The plan was to have it so that when Old Spock meets with New Spock at the end, Old Spock would show him a holographic recording of Old Kirk wishing him goodbye and looking back on their friendship just before they retired. Then Old Spock would tell New Spock to treasure the friendship he'll have with Kirk.

It was a neat scene but Shatner isn't big on cameos.

  • Captain.... our careers are over.

  • I absolultely "LOVE" how they managed to visually alter that segment of Star Trek VI! Not to mention how they beautifully added William Shatner with dialogue for the commercial!....................."STAR TREK 4-EVER!"

  • That movie, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, really touched my heart mainly cause it was DeForest Kelly's final appearance as Dr. McCoy and for the VERY unfortunate fact that he and James Doohan passed aways years back. Also, that film was very important cause of the transition from Kirk's Enterprise NCC-1701-A and his beloved crew to that of the next Enterprise NCC-1701-B, the Excelsior-Class Starship commanded by Captain Harriman..........Leading to a new generation and new adventures.

  • I remember that commercial. They got it all right except the shield insignia was way too small. Good commercial but I didn't switch.

  • what about when he meets Picard in generations???

  • I miss those uniforms

  • At 0:11 it sounds like he says "Mr. Jackoff"

  • we got 3d tv in the uk now so we watch avater and lost 3d at lunch time and predators and playstation 3 in the evening

  • I hate how these damn directv commercials. They just seem to ruin a perfectly good scene.

  • @ibshortkid94 True, but this one was actually funny, and it's at least it doesn't show the spectacular bad taste of the DirecTV ads that inserted new footage into Poltergeist and Tommy Boy years after its respective stars Heather O'Rourke and Chris Farley died! Those ads really pissed me off.

  • This cracks me up!

  • Those are the best commercials.

  • too god was this b4 goerge and bill beef?

  • fucking yes, that rocked

  • that was stupid

  • That sort of made my day MUCH better then it should have!

  • What's with Shatner's nose?

  • He's older now.

  • @harveysuperboy

    Naaaaah... Ya think?

  • Great commercial, but having a dish is counter-intuitive. You watch more TV when it's cloudy and wet than any other time. Dish goes out when it gets cloudy.

  • My dish never goes out when its cloudy...

    maybe I have a broken one? :D

  • I was about to say the same thing.

Mine never goes out when it's cloudy, so I probably have a broken one!

  • that was a commercial

  • Well, this theme was written by Jerry Goldsmith for Star Trek 1... 10 years before TNG even existed.

  • wow. Are you really that dumb?

  • iLikePeanutButter9- you fucking idiot!

The Next Generation theme tune WAS the theme tune for the original MOVIES. Then they re-used it for TNG series.

How about you learn your facts before trolling your ignorant shit on Youtube =P

  • @iLikePeanutButter9

Umm, Star Trek The Next Generation theme is actually the original Star Trek series' first movie theme. Ever watched Star Trek The Motion Picture? Star Trek The Next Generation used Star Trek The Motion Picture's theme, dude. It's the best Star Trek theme ever.

  • @TheStarTreker Correct. The Motion Picture Soundtrack became indeed the theme for TNG. My Personal favorites are the themes from "The Wrath of Khan" by James Horner and the "Undiscovered Country" theme by Cliff Eidelman, but that would have been to dark for a commercial.

  • @iLikePeanutButter9 I seem to recall it was also used in Star Trek V (the one Shatner directed). For what it's worth.

  • there's nothing like the original crew I hate these new cheesy Hollywood faces who pretend to be Kirk and Spock and Uhura etc. in the new movie they can never bet Shatner/Nimoy/Kelley/ Doohan etc.

  • I agree.

  • they pretend to be them...cause they're actors...and that's their job xD

  • there's a difference between pretending and making you believe that they actually ARE those characters you know why everyone in the original bridge crew became typecast? because they were so believable as Kirk/Spock/Scotty etc. they became unbelievable as anything else

  • i miss the original trek crew!

  • @lapere I miss my huge dick, but a weasel bit it off. Deal with it!

  • That was the best!!!

  • This commercial is the shit!!!

  • It would be quite sad to have it end up where this commercial was the last time Shatner filmed anything Trek related...

  • funky funny vid

  • The first time I saw this commercial my jaw dropped. I couldn't express how amused I was rofl.

  • Setting for cable would be... illogical. What? I can't use that line??? LOL! William Shatner is the man!

  • This will not be the last time Shatner plays Kirk... You heard it here first.

  • Khaaaaaannnnnn!

  • FAIL thay used the tng theam at the end

  • No, that's the theme from ST: The Motion Picture, which was later used for the Next Generation. You sir, have failed. Good day.

  • n00000000000000000000000000000

  • petty

  • lmfao HAHAHHAHAHAHHAH wow ownage huh that was funny as hell.... coudnt have said it better either... XD way to go picard kid

  • picard just made a drive by pwnage

    damn you picard yet again!

  • I was thinking that too.

  • No the theme was actually first used in Star TRek: TMP, which featured TOS crew, it was meant as a modern replacement for the TOS TV theme, The theme was later used for TNG. So actually the use of that music here is appropriate and fitting.

  • Shatner dedication in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • This is a (pardon the pun) takeoff on a Jerry Seinfeld bit: "Star Trek is really the ultimate male fantasy, zipping around space in the big chair with the big-screen TV! Yeah, come on over, I got Klingon boxing!"

  • I don't think Shatner was really playing Kirk here. He seemed more...Shatner. And Negotiator. x^D

  • Denny Crane!

  • Tja, CGI hat Shatner etwas verjüngt. Der Werbespot war von 2006, die Film-Aufnahmen von 1991...

  • ok, honestly, how old can u be to be working on a starship? youd think that after a certain age that star fleet would have them retire.

  • Age doesn't matter when you're as awesome as kirk.

  • @IconOfSin88 KIRK is like a fat CHUCK NORRIS from the future

  • @IconOfSin88 : Nimoy has aged most gracefully. Same old Leonard. Walter Koenig, ditto. George Takei, as well. Nichelle Nichols is radiant, these days. All that worrying about other people usurping his position (and likely, the resultant nervous eating) turned Shatner into a bloated pig. I don't even recognize him as being the same person anymore. Of course, what we know now is that he wanted to be in the movie and it was Abrams who told Shatner he was not needed or wanted in the new film.

  • No substitute for experience, lad...

  • hahaha. the ship bridge and klingon ship are from "The Undiscovered Country".

  • Priceline Negotiator!

  • BS....shame!

  • OmG that made my day!

  • in the original script for the new star trek spock and kirk came back but they found this too gimmicky after kirk's death in generations.

  • Kirk fell to his death in Generations. But then again, I heard a novel set within the continuity of the original Trek universe shows he survived and continued adventuring.

  • I think that is Shatner who just wanted to get back in uniform. I'm sure J.J. would eventurally bring him back some how, we should just be happy to see old Kirk back.

  • The Romulans brought him back using Borg technology because they thought they could use him to defeat the Federation. It was in a novel I read many years ago.

  • Well let's hope he does show up in the new movie. My illustration teacher, a Trekkie, doubts some of the original cast would make further cameos after Nimoy.

  • Yes, I would have to agree with you on that. I still feel robbed because a DS9 & Voyager series of movies were never made. I always wondered what happened to Sisko after DS9 ended. What a shame. Nimoy still did a pretty good job though. Ka'Plah

  • @ gukonni: To be honest, I think an alternate universe and the original Spock affecting its timeline is awesome.

The producers wanted an ingenius way of connecting the original tv series and movies, and rebooting the franchise at the same time. This way you won't get complaints of it being 'just another remake'.

  • They will never put William Shatner in a future Star Trek movie. He's too old and it's time to move on.

  • BS Just like Rocky Balboa William Shatner has 1 more round...

  • i don't wanna see that round.

  • Leonard Nimoy wasn't too old to play Spock in the most recent Star Trek movie.

  • No, he isnt, is he? He looks DAMN good for a man his age, and he's not a handicapped man either! He's mobile and flexible, when you see him in documentaries and stuff, being himself! That man has plenty of good years left in him, both as an actor/producer/director/photographer and as a man in general - I'm sure his wife keeps him young :)

  • I haven't been paying much attention to the latest developments, but I was reading a few weeks ago that William Shatner might be in the next movie. Since this is an alternate time line, there's no telling how old James Kirk will live to be. His character died off at a younger age in the previous time line, but things are different now. The possibilities are endless!

  • Incorrect.

    Thanks for playing.

  • It only shows HOW LONG shes been with him.

    From 2001 to now.

We cant tell how old she is though.

I bet somewhere in her mid 60's

  • Read his book.

  • Hes about 72 now.

And he says going for 90.

    Heh.

Hes in great shape, about 180 pounds, but he dosent have diabetes, no diseases, no STD's, no illnesses, he isint hadi-capped.

Hes also an extremly intelligent man, and you can include Lenard Nimoy on that one.

SPOCK AND CAPTIAN KIRK, FOR THE WIN.

  • Bart: I did say I did correct myself.a

  • Sorry about that. I didn't see your second comment correcting Bill's age.

  • Its ok.

  • Infact, i must be corrected.

    Hes 78.

  • Hopefully William Shatner will return as Captain James T Kirk in the 12th Trek movie

  • Comment removed

  • Interesting. When was this made? Looking at Shatner now, I thought he would be too old to play Kirk, but he looks pretty convincing here. Could he still reprise the role in a movie if he had the chance?

  • This has to be at least two years old.

  • Funny commercial, but they went through all that trouble to half ass the uniforms and gave Shatner two sets of Army SGT rank top to bottom. A few minutes of ebay or try to get one over the audience. Not to mention the classic Enterprise in the turbolift. Still, love the commercial though.

  • Clever yes,. But why the heck did they play TNG theme song? Shouldn't it have been TOS theme?

  • The TNG theme is based on the theme from Star Trek The Motion Picture. It's basically a shorter version of that theme.

  • Denny Crane...

  • awesome...lol

  • Shatner will do anything to stay in the public eye even keeping Kirk alive.

  • He's an entertainer. That's what they do.

  • Old school Trekky here. I thought it was mildly entertaining.

  • You can thank Rupert Murdoch, Shat and Paramount for bidding Kirk farewell in epic whoredom.

  • hahaha bill shatner rocks!

  • sell out.

  • Funny, possibly brilliant for an ad/comerial but also complet bullshit

  • a little piece of me just died right now

  • Funny, but sad

  • amm higgs particle is (if it exists) responsible for inertia.... so what's up with those replicators?

  • at the begining, it kinda sounds like kirk saying " At ease Mr.Jackoff"

yes i know his name is Chekov. i watch Star Trek

  • ya but its funny bullshit
