  • @davisofthedesert Have you played Blazblue or Catherine? Those have some pretty awesome music. Good music is still out there you just have to look.

  • @9jubjubs Yeah, and good games are still out there, too.

  • This music is of The Battle Arena, of Chrono Trigger DS Version ;D

  • That music is used only in the DS and possibly the PS1 verson when you battle with your trained monster. (By the way I said that, it sounded like I was talking poke- friggin'-mon

  • Interesting to hear it, but glad it has not been used.

The one that's made it in the game is 100 times better :)

  • @davisofthedesert Sooo true

  • Sounds like Final Fantasy to much and merits no nostalgia.

    :(

  • this sounds just as good as the original one that they used

  • @darklordl3on Uggh. The original was horrifically repetitive. I don't know if this one is better or if I just don't have it in me to hear the original for the seven millionth time in one play through.

  • @Ant1Live yea, would have been nice if they switch up the music. by the time i've gone back to 1mil BC I can't stand the music, would have been nice if it was a diferent battle theme for each time. but that's my only grief. Chrono trigger is still my favoriate RPG from the era. back when JRPG was a GOOD thing.

  • @davisofthedesert

Thats a joke right? There's plenty of newschool games that use sounds/music to their advantage, even most newschool RPGs. Silent Hill 3 pulled off music amazingly (it helped with the atmosphere so damn much), Shadows of the Damned did as well, same with numerous fighters, Bayonetta, Killer 7, I could go on.

  • @TheNickTheM

Bayonetta is a piece of crap and the music sucks.

Oh wait u just wrote that the music matches the game, well i suppose then ur right.

  • Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Trigger. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!

  • you literally just played the music on top.. you could have just found the gamegenie cheat to activate the song too

  • ..I think I remember hearing this some time through the game...

  • @2chrono It sounds somewhat like the Magus battle them, so you may be thinking of that.

  • @Formalhandshakeguy Yeah, that's probably it....

  • @2chrono If you played the DS version it does play at the arena, but in the original release this song was never used, but left in the ROM. From what I gather, there was originally supposed to be a Colosseum in the game (i think in 600 AD) where this was supposed to be the battle music for.

  • @OriginalZero Never played the DS version... It was Magus' battle theme I was thinking of, probably.

  • @davisofthedesert Then you're not buying the right games!

  • This Battle2, it's used in the DS version of Chrono Trigger, as you're in the monster arena, fighting.

  • that woulda been good for the battle with magus

  • They could have used this song for a boss, I mean they used the memory space for it anyway. Also, why is there no proper sequel to this game yet?!?!?

  • I am really glad they used this in the DS Version. Why they didn't use it in the first place I will never know. But it sure makes it feel revamped to hear this in the game.

  • I think this song should of been played at the Zeal final battle.

    Would of been un expected.

  • If you know music well, you can easily notice why this music was not used as the regular battle theme. If you really pay attention to all of the Chrono Trigger tracks during game play, this "battle" theme has no connection with the rest of the tracks in the game. Is hard to explain, but it's just the way it is. (but the theme is good, don't get me wrong)

  • omg i could totally see this music in like the final boss dungeon like think about it! a big dungeon before the fight with lavos that would of been kewl but the game is already perfect so there isnt much you can add to a perfect game

  • this would suit a battle system that goes into a battle screen like final fantasy. not something as fast as CT's battles.

  • htf did u not have chrono with you?

  • @Joemamma109 he is there, he is just dust

  • @EldestSauce yea shortly after i commented this he died lol

  • @Joemamma109 lol

  • would have made a great boss theme for the queen of zeal! i think so anyways

  • @dxvs99999 they used this in the DS version for the arena mode

  • They shoulda used it a little

  • definitly heard this before

  • wow, haste has an extremely annoying sound effect doesn't it...

  • I know this theme is used at least in the ds version.

  • @Protomasterexe Yep; in the monster arena, if I recall correctly.

  • Anyone who played these games in their prime is older than you are haha! I remember waking up every morning before school just to play some Final Fantasy

  • Gotta make sure my kids play this game (along with several others). I'm glad I was raised on Snes9x.

  • I gotta make sure my little daughter plays classic games like these so she appreciates video game history. Ha ha!

  • this is very generic and stupid, i'm sure glad they didn't use this one, would've ruined the game.

  • Jesus Christ, even the unused themes are awsome in this game!

  • I'm 14 and this is probably the best game ever made in my opinion.

  • Sounds more like a boss theme to me, but its still kickass :D

  • Apart from Grandia, this is the best RPG ever made i think.

    64

  • this song is too epic to play during mundane battles with common enemies

  • That's a sick bassline.

  • I didn't like how they used this track in the DS version...it's vastly inferior to the actual battle theme (just too slow and predictable)

  • I like how they actually used this track in the DS version.

  • I've not heard this piece in years..

  • I miss the days of SNES, N64 and Gameboy color, ah the good ole days.

  • I'm glad they didn't use this. I like the current better.

  • feyzzel, hey im 14 and ive played this games 3 versions to DEATH MWAHAHA. ahem*. Anyways I love the old school games

  • The one they eventually used was a lot better.

  • sounds familiar... :( i think i heard it in the sound test.... no wait. This is the Monster Coliseum theme! i didn't know that the theme was in the original game!

  • Im currently 18, and i believe the 16 bit age was the best in terms of rpgs and platformers. And as an avid fan of Ratchet and Clank, and the Jak series, I can say that I am not biased.

  • why oh why has this the greatest rpg in existence no longer continuing it really needs because im pretty sure people are getting tired of those damn ff sequels spoiler ff13 sucked balls dont buy this if you love doing sidequests

  • @darkdragonforever Im glad there are not any new crono triggers, you honestly think the new square WONT fuck them up? id rather have 2 fantastic games than have 2 fantastic games ended with a pile of shit

  • @becongeneral now that i think about it it sad but true that square enix would fuck up a great squaresoft title hell look at final fantasy 13 that should've been a side game like ffX-2

  • I like how it sounds more, but I can see why it was left out as a battle theme. It doesn't seem to "fit" the kind of tune you'd hear in the midst of a fight. The bulk of it just sounds too pop-rock'ish. But I would have loved to hear this elsewhere in the game, perhaps as a major or minor character's theme, or perhaps during a fight with a major or minor villain like Dalton.

  • wow, thats great!!they totally should have used it

  • For those of you who thought he sucks, he is just delaying the inevitable in order to show you guys the full loop of the whole theme.

So don't be assholes, THINK for one fucking second.

  • @nisbahmumtaz909 or he could have paused...

  • @Ant1Live

It's more appropriate to have 'battle music' go with 'battles', don't you think?

Plus, when you pause, the volume is lowered.

  • Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 alone are enough reasons to be considered one of the best video game companies in the world.

  • @Laurelindo Too bad the company went downhill years ago and is still rolling down that same hill. =(

  • This is better than the normal battle theme they used :/

  • Also the theme is great. :P

  • @FadeToBlack181 --- yeah because he wasn't trying to show the battle music right? i'm sure he did all that other stuff just because he always does...

    think pls

  • this sounds more like an epic boss battle

  • It did appeared in the game

but just with easy Bosses and I think that in the Robo Mission against his creator

  • You are not that good on this gameXD

  • I remember this song though. :/

  • version.

    damm triple post. >_>

  • forgot to add that the optional mini game battle were on the DS

  • the song was included in the optional mini game battles.

    but yeah

this theme is better than the original

  • It sounds more like a Final Fantasy fight theme.

  • thats what i just said when i heard it lol

  • This song >>>>>>> The original by FAR....

They should, instead, make a Chrono Trigger 2, and put this as the theme :/

  • didnt square make final fantasy to??

  • yup.

  • no duh

  • this is n ds version!!!

    YAY!!!!

  • I don't know why...this song just songs way too much of a Boss Theme. Slightly. But it is very nice.

    -Edo >oO( > 'o' )>

  • Yeah

  • It kinda does sound like it was made to be a boss theme.

  • I think it could fit a mini boss battle.

  • this one was used in Chrono trigger DS in the Arena battles =D awesome song

  • this battle theme is way better than the original , but i like both!!

  • its in the monster aerea battles now

  • i like this better then the battle theme

    its cooler

though the battle them has a good drum beat

  • me likes, what a waste.

  • no way where? haha

  • in some part of that game apear some creature so rare and u can't give to him ever a single damage, i wonder if someone knows something about that im talking about

  • I bet you're talking about zombie Cyrus.

  • yeah!!

  • I like it.

  • Battle 2.

  • Notice how the first line of melody here sounds a lot like the preface music to Chrono Cross (the melody there is on flute instead).

  • Wait, this song IS in the DS version? YAY, I JUST GOT THAT VERSION! I just need to get a new DS now and I'll have this amazing music... darn my old DS breaking XD

  • i think this song is used in chrimson echos at least i think O.o

  • Being 14 years old means you haven't experienced the "golden" age of Japanese RPGs on Supernintendo, as we ...old farts and/or nerds did :)

They were games with a strong atmosphere, story and were technically extremely good.

What you posted is your personal opinion, but believe me, you are wrong.

  • I know lots of people that think you're gay.

  • Actually, I couldn't give a crap about what you think of CT, but for fuck's sake, at least give a reason to dislike it or nobody's going to take you seriously...

Also, "instead of staying outside all damn day go outside for a change"...

If I'm already outside, how do I go outside...?

  • It's called a typo of course you wouldn't know and I checked out the game because I saw it in my magazine and wanted to check it out and I didn't like it that's why it's called "COMMENTS" to state ur opinion on the video what you think youtube is all about pointless online fights hell no I have better things to do with my life

  • Actually, I fight online for the hell of it in by spare time. >_>

  • spare time? You mean all of the time right? *cough*(no life) hmm what?

  • Whoops, I made a typo now. And no, "spare" is not an synonym for "all". Good day, sir.

  • It's actually pretty crappy weather where I'm at, so I'm staying inside and socializing in an Intarwebz style.

  • bad weather where I am too but yet I still find a way to have fun...well not anymore since the parties over -_- that's why I'm just on youtube and watching music videos.

  • Then we're both doing the same thing. I'm having fun watching random Let's Plays. 'K?

  • yup that whole fight we had was pretty stupid

  • dude, chill the hell out

  • I wrote that comment 2 weeks ago of course I chilled the hell out :P

  • I too am from the old-school 16-bit days...those were some of the best memories I ever had. So I agree with you 100%

  • @KuroiKuroudo I'm too old for those times, and yet, the 16-Bit days are still awesome memories for me... I TIME TRAVELED THERE :D

  • @KuroiKuroudo Back in those days developers had to put more effort into the content. You couldn't just sit back on the strength of the presentation, you had to actually make your games unique & quirky to stand out. Nowadays it's all flashy graphics & weak soundtracks masked by an orchestral backing. Games just aren't of the same quality anymore. Too many idiots buy into: great graphics = great game

My 360 & PS3 have started gathering dust while I boot up my SNES & PSX to replay some REAL games.

  • @AndyKuffz You and me the same Andy; Talking RPG's the days of PSX Grandia, PSX Jade Cocoon, SNES Chrono trigger... Good times! :)

  • @AndyKuffz What about the Wii? Don't tell that it was just a fail, okay? I heard that excuse too many times. What I meant is that it was designed for originality. That you can go back in time to older days given what it has. Or even, dare I say it, the big titles for the Wii? Mario Galaxy had very beautiful orchestra, and those other games did too (the games of the better). Well, this is only a suggestion. If you really hate it, then that's fine. :)

  • @Feyzzel ha ur right this stuff was so fun and every thing back in the day XD i grew up with this stuff XD

  • @Feyzzel *Sniff* the only way i can experience it is from a freaking emulator

  • @Feyzzel Im 16 years old and i played games like Terranigma or Chrono trigger when i was very very young and nowadays i played it again and it was freaking amazing so i must say you are 100% right!! These Games make my childhood perfect and i like to remember these days as little kid playing j-rpgs ;D

  • @XxXxRIKxXxX Thanks mate! I'm very happy you played them.. I really must congratulate you, so young but so wise not to ignore games like those ones!

Try also Secret of Mana if you still haven't, you won't regret! :)

  • @Feyzzel im still impressed most 14 yr old wouldn't even give chrono trigger a second glance

  • @SOUTHWESTENZ

:0 thats dumb, Ive played chrono trigger and cross a bajillion times! i play my SNES more than anything else! old squaresoft for the win!

  • @thedragoonknight well most ppl only care about graphics

  • @SOUTHWESTENZ Oh you have to be ****ing kidding me. If a game looks so incredibly realistic, but the controls suck and the gameplay is shallow it still sucks.

  • @Feyzzel This game came out in the late 90s, how does that make you a old fart. You could be 20 years old.

  • @R0cknroll4ever i dont think he was born playing RPGs though, i could imagine that happening though XD

  • @R0cknroll4ever Some people have absurdly low standards when it comes to one's age, you are pretty much "getting old" at 22 or something in that region, and "life is over" after 30 etc etc etc.

Those opinions are kind of disgusting, it makes you feel like their standards tell them to have sexual relationships with children or something.

  • @Laurelindo My mother played pong, "old farts" aren't the only ones that experienced the golden age of jrpgs

  • @Feyzzel And having read his comment, I have to agree with him. This is (in my opinion) One of the best games ever made, next to FF6

  • LOL! I love that shoved this awesome song in the ds version. Though...why in the heck did they take it out of the snes version to begin with?

  • Resembles those who fight in the beginning :)

  • Yeah... the first 5 notes XD

  • both have sweet bass

  • Yasunori-san bass is amazing!

  • Shouldn't have left it out, they should have used both

  • It on the DS version. For that little Nu battle thing.

  • I am quite certain they used this battle theme somewhere in the game. I just don't remember where and when, but I know I've heard it in the game before

  • This song is better than the other battle theme..

  • yea

  • i heared that 3 people can play...

  • they use this on the arena on the DS version now

  • wow, i coulda swore i heard this before, but maybe it was just a random mp3 on the web :O

  • songs tight G

  • If beat would have been little faster it would have good boss-music... Maybe.

  • You called luca ally xD

  • At first I was like "where have i heard this before.." and then i remembered that you can hear it in the Arena of Ages.

  • Yeah, so in the end and after 13 years... they used it. Nice uh?

  • yay let's search for the arena of ages in the snes version then XD

  • where was it used?

  • It was used in the Chrono Trigger port to the DS, in this "Arena of the Ages" place they added

  • Oh, wow! I knew i've heard that song before! xD

  • Like it

  • i know why!

    cuz ur frog lol

  • NOW I remember where I heared this song from!

It is played in the arena during the monster fight!

  • yeah they used it in cross

  • Yea-hea! This Theme is as great as the original one!

  • The melody is just a tad repetitive, it would be awesome with some more variety.

It's not too bad, though; the track is still great.

  • Really that theme is better than the original, but we get used to the other one...

the bass in this one is better!!!

  • This theme is going to appear in the DS version apparently. Check out the website and it plays during the video for the Arena of the Ages.

  • it sounds like a song that would fit better with a boss battle than a normal battle

  • Yeah, I hear it's supposed to go with battles against mini-bosses like the Lavos Spawn or something like that.

  • they should of used this theme, its awesome. i actually prefer this theme

  • wow, this battle theme is good. how did you get it?

  • They're going to use this battle theme for the arena in the DS version.

  • wow this brings back memories. i wish i still owned a super nintendo man!
