I had a snapping turtle for a while once, he grew HUGE! We'd keep a bunch of medium size feeder goldfish in the tank at any given time, it's a massive tank so it's not like there's space issues. He grew to like a smaller one of the fish, they swam together and followed each other around, until he ran out of other fish and tore the poor guy to shreds...

First, I would guess the goldfish was put in there that one year ago FOR food, and the turtle just never bothered to eat it, or the fish was smart enough to keep away until the owner decided I better put more food in or else the turtle will die. Second, NATURE IS TORTURE! Seriously, you need to actually watch a bear eat a fish after it has caught it. I'm sure it's agonizing for the fish. Third, that particular snapper was taking an unusualy long time. (Probably savoring the sweet tasty "Murder")
