My strategy is

1. Check if the enemy team is coordinated (split up into pairs and see if they go for one pair to make they other one rescue them)

2. If they are have your four man group stick loosely together. Have two guys grab the cans while two cover from a distance.

3. If they aren't then split up into pairs and go for different cans or have one pair throw cans down near the generator.

Tips:

Do something different each round.

Talk to each other.

Have a plan.

Headshot can sometimes make games look bad, don't know how some reviewers get facts wrong or suck. The generator has no story but maybe after the game and whoever won, maybe you should use your imagination and pretend at the end the generator does actually do something, man Valve is smart, make us think of a story! :)

want a Strategy.

Split into 2 pairs and head in different directions and when collecting from lets say the motel rooms, throw them down into the courtyard for the other pair to collect. Always have one man hands free and throw the "Gasoline" rather then carry, that way you can collect them all at a faster pace ... oh and don't shoot them, they ignite.
