@sortedfood Can you do more recipes using organic/fair trade products? To get the word out that using foods that support the planet, and the people on our planet, is quite easy. Oh and a nectarine cake would be delicious.
I just wanted to point out that it's more natural and (I think) in Tay's interest to use vanilla extract, rather than vanilla essence. Vanilla extract is the juices from the natural product, while the essence is a chemical replica :)
I would have done a chocolate rice crispie treat type thing. Rice is gluten-free, and you can mix and match different other add-ins, including extra chocolate chips.
@tchunu Well the majority of Americans do eat more than they need and so portion control/calorie restriction is a good way to avoid that, it's much better to continually eat healthy then to diet on and off. Which is my response to your original comment:
"Caloric restriction? What an idiot. That's what you do when you are on a diet."
I don't really know how we got onto your skinniness - which I mean 'go you' and all I just felt the need to address your insult.
@florncelovme haha you funny because I've seen 3 hatted chefs plate up something like that oh a 3 hatted chef usely works in a 2 to 5 mishlen star rated restaurant. So quit you whining.
@ichigoXicecream no, but you can use millet (it's healthier)! Polenta's just cornmeal; the Italian word of course sounds more expensive, but get organic cornmeal for 80c/lb (US cost) *or* find a Jewish market and millet usually abounds(quinoa,farro<-myfave,&steel cut oats too); it's also, of course, at fancy organic-everything stores in bulk bins. :) Anyway, for what they did, it's just yellow cornmeal boiled into, well, mush, just like "cream of wheat" and other porridge type foods.
Sometimes living in the U.S. frustrates me because the whole rest of the world uses liters, grams, and Celsius and we have cups, ounces, and Fahrenheit.
@DragonRider22 what truly sucks is ounces (weight) versus ounces (volume). THAT drives me BONKERS. The rest I can forgive&convert. Some imports forget that little word "fluid" or worse they'll put net WEIGHT then put the volume. Not really Asia's fault that the US hasn't actually put into place the metric system promised what year?... & it's entirely the US' fault a stupid rocket blew the fuck up because international measurements differed (can't recall the year anymore but I still steam a bit)
do you think you can do a sweet for diabetics? my grandpa is, and he really loves sweet things, but the sweets you can get for diabetics are...discusting. help please?
I tried to make these with a couple of friends on Friday and we utterly failed. I think it was my attempt at translating ml's, grams, and Celcius' into cups, ounces, and Fahrenheits that did us in :P But I am happy we tried!
@sortedfood are there any substitutions you can make for the dairy? I'm lactose and gluten intolerant, so this recipe ALMOST meets my requirements! Also, instead of using a chocolate bar, can you use cacao or cocoa powder instead?
@imXsoXnotXscene You could probably use Soya Milk as a replacement, I'm not sure how that would work, but you could always try. And if your worried about dairy in the the chocolate, if you use 70% cocoa, it should not contain any milk, mainly just cocoa, cocoa butter and sugar... hope this helps :)
I nearly burst out laughing when you poured milk in right at the start. A lot of my family can't have dairy, so with the lengthy preface of this being suitable for basically all dietary requirements, it seemed hilarious that you would (for some people) spoil the recipe with milk. Something that not many people use as a milk substitute that I think would be perfect for this recipe is hazelnut milk. It's brilliant. Another great vid though, I'll have to try this myself sometime!
hey guys, wondering if you could do a vegan sweet?? Liiiike, something really yummy. Christmas is coming up, and I'm fairly poor this year, and I have lots of vegan friends. So I thought I'd make something really yummy to give to them instead of buying presents.
I made this today, and I thought it was pretty good for a gluten-free dessert. I appreciate the fact that there's no refined sugar in the recipe (I feel that many desserts are overly sweet, anyways). A fine request, Tay Zonday. I thought you were articulate and informative in your video. I am also a big supporter of natural sugar, portion control, and fair trade foods. Well done, guys!
Besides the fact that I don't like Chocolate Rain at all, he has a lot of expectations on what food is supposed to be like. After about 30 seconds it just got really annoying.
But the dish looked awesome! I'm definitely gonna try that!
I made these and can report that they are AMAZING. Delicious. I have to ration myself or I would have eaten them in one sitting. And they were a piece of cake (fnar) to make, which is a nice change for gluten-free baking. Thanks guys!

I used to be Vegan and it was very difficult to eat a variety of dishes that weren't boring. It would also be a wonderfully healthy dish for your subscribers to try out. :)
To those wanting to cut back on their use of [cane] sugar, Stevia is also a good alternative. It's just another plant sugar that has no calories and little to no effect on blood sugar. The aftertaste reminds me of something similiar to Splenda, but at least in baking using half Stevia and half of your other chosen sweetener it's not noticible at all and a lot better for you, which is how I usually use it.
Anything made with fruit sugar or agave would be awesome! I stopped eating refined sugars 9 months ago and lost 18 pounds in 3 months! Sugar really is terrible for you and causes you to over eat. Any deserts without refined sugar would be AMAZING!! So happy you guys did this recipe!! :D
i tryed making thoes cuz my dads all organic n homedone like stuff (like we have chickend n a garden n stuff like that) n ya not a good idea do use hand stone grounded cornmeal...its cruchy in all the wrong places lol
I'm a vegan diabetic coeliac (not out of choice I might add, I've just got a rubbish digestive system). Any sweet recipe of something that's 100% not bad for me would be welcome!
Yay! A glutenfree recipe ! :D More of those please !

Sorted Food inspired me to do hospitality for a GCSE, and I can use some of these dishes for my practical as well.

Could you guys do Crispy Duck Pancakes?! x

yourenot 5 months ago
@yourenot sorry if this is annoying but how do you know if something has refined sugar?
sounds like something i might try :)

I'm a vegan diabetic coeliac (not out of choice I might add, I've just got a rubbish digestive system). Any sweet recipe of something that's 100% not bad for me would be welcome!
