I look at my car in a totally different way because of the movie Christine.lol...I'll just walk to the car and before driving,it just makes me wanna go niiiiiiice car, gooooood car, but then I remember that it's only a movie.

Luv that movie, and Stephen King's IT also.

I really did not enjoy Christine, it just didn't suit my personal tastes, but I will say I love the car. It's beautiful.

Ugh,I still can't watch that part of Old Boy where he cuts out his tongue.I can't say for sure because I haven't seen the movie,but I don't think Old Boy is so much "scary" as it's just...Disturbing.xD

itszeebaybee Christine isnt a wack movie.When it came out you werent even a thought in your parents mind.The problem with people today is that they see movies like Saw or Hostil and automatically they think old movies suck.But you fail to realize at the time thats what was scary to people.Just because a movie isnt flowing with blood dont mean is sucks.

first of all... don't assume you know my taste in film because of my age.

i hate hostel and saw.

i hate all so-called scary movies made in this century... with the exception of The Orphanage.

they all rely on carnage to tell their story... i hate that.

i think Christine sucks, because it didn't scare me at all.

Scanners did.

most french horror films do.

anything by Stanley Kubrick deeply disturbs me in the most wonderful way.

i like classics. Christine just isn't one of them in my opinion.

At the time Christine scared people,if you would have seen it in theaters or been a 5 year old kid at the time you would understand my point.I just think too many people today are fixed with the notion that blood and guts=a great horror movie,which to be honest is far from truth.

i don't care if it scared people 20 years ago... it didn't scare me... and i saw it when i was about 8 or 9.

Diabolique scares me.

The Last House on the Left scares the shit out of me.

George A Romero's stuff... epic.

Even Nosefaratu creeps me out.

MagicmanofOdin - Horror movies had a lot of blood and guts in the 80's. The movies now are not really about that. Horror movies today are more about good looking people wearing trendy clothes and of course - photography. Cameras and how expensive the equipment the crews today can buy. And technology. Cellphones and such.

To be scary you must set up a genuine threat and pit likeable people against it while setting the action in an atmosphere that exudes an ambience of spookiness, dread, and/or menace. I'm not against violence in horror films or any other kind of film, but as you pointed out, that can't be all a film has going for it.

@CArownny That's something I've noticed, most of the moments on THIS list are not scary, they're just gory, people don't seem to realize that there IS a difference.

@MagicmanofOdin exactly! i honestly don't know anyone in my age group who thinks like that. and im 19. i've never even seen hostel or saw lol but i know classic movies like christine are at the top of my list.
