@AdmiralCoolkid Imagine what people would say if they found a few chariot wheels at the bottom of the Red Sea, or maybe a few thousand? Well, they would say this proves the Bible and the story of Moses parting the Red Sea and the Egyptian soldiers getting drowned, etc.
I'm not saying either way (hence the ? mark in the title), but I am saying that this is MORE evidence of what happened in the Book of Mormon in my opinion, than a 1000 chariot wheels at the bottom of the Red Sea.
Freethinker your an absolute dumbass and a classic example of what the "Bible," (since all your ignorant shutoff mind can handle is just "one" scripture) warns and talks about are anitchrist speakers who denote the words of God from Chosen individuals to lead us in our days. Who the hell are you to say that God can only speak once? What you think your some special son/daughter of God and your the only one he talks to? He has spoken to every civilization known to man and been with "us" humans
These scientists would probably never say that this find of the creation story on a mural proves the Book of Mormon, but it does support it, nonetheless. The previous science has been saying all along that the Mayans were forcefed christianity by the Spaniards. Well now we know they were wrong on that, don't we?
How many times archaeologists get things WRONG when they speculate and offer their conjecture on a small set of facts.
Anti Mo zealot's will find some way to dispute this. The murals could depict Lehi's family and they'd discount it. These findings are cool but they'll never convert.
The murals—discovered in 2004 at the Maya site of Calakmul—depict ordinary people enjoying much more casual pursuits, according to a new, detailed description of the wall art.
"There's really nothing like this in any of the [known] murals. These are totally unexpected," said Maya expert Michael D. Coe, curator emeritus at Yale University's Peabody Museum of Natural History and editor of the new paper.
There are BOTH dark AND light skinned people in the mural. So obvious a Nephite.
@mormonanswerman "There are BOTH dark AND light skinned people in the mural. So obvious a Nephite."
Wow! What flawed logic. You start from a false assumption, "the church is true" you'll never discover anything thinking like that. Copying and pasting from Mormon sites doesn't constitute research either. You haven't addressed the fact that Joseph Smith claimed Cumorah was in New York.
@Tobsy1981 I think it is in New York too. What's the problem with that?
You know, we STILL have not found ANY traces of 2,000,000 Hebrew Slaves under the direction of MOSES for over 40 YEARS in the wilderness of Egypt. Still missing, after all these years.
Don't talk of Cumorah until you find all that first. Obviously archaelogy IS as faulty of a proof as I ever thought it was. You'd think that some of these think that everything's been found already. No...
@mormonanswerman that is proof? May I ask that you define "proof" as far as archeology is concered? Have any BOM artifacts been found and proven to be beyond a shadow of a doubt? I have another question, Michael Coe is quoted many times my LDS implying he supports the BOM account of great civiizations in MesoAmerica but he denied this in no uncertain terms.(see (Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Summer 1973, pp. 41, 42 & 46) so why is he quoted by LDS folk?
@Gideon6640man Professor Anthon approved of the Egyptian characters that Martin Harris showed to him, UNTIL he heard that they got the gold plates from an ANGEL of God. Then he denied it all.
Same with Poe. He gives all these facts that back up the Book of Mormon, and then says, in effect, "these do not back up the Book of Mormon." Same difference. A faithless man busying himself with facts. Ever learning and never able to come a knowledge of the truth. So common in these last days.
@mormonanswerman OMG,So who cares about Anthon etc..your avoiding the question. the papyri is in the hands of the LDS church, So Coe is wrong? he does not know the Maya civilization? Archeology does not lie. I ask you if there is any Nephite artifacts anywhere were they can be examined, yes or no. It;;s not a complicated question guy. I bought two Widows Mites a couple of years ago and they date from the time of Christ. You have any Nephite coins? or do you know where I can get one?
@Gideon6640man There were no Nephite "coins" but measures, and there is a difference. It means you are not going to find coins. Did then find any? No, so does that prove the Book of Mormon #LOL actually NONE of the archaeology stuff proves anything about scriptures being true. In order to know this you are going to have to pray about it. What is the POINT of putting importance on archaeology, when you are going to have to pray to God to ask if it is true anyway? Did the archaeology matter?
@mormonanswerman Sir. If you don't put a lot of stock in archaeology, don't consider it proof, and don't see a point in placing importance on archaeology, then why are you using this video about an archaeological discovery/location as a support for your religion? Also, is the Mayan creation story the same as Christian creation story? I couldn't tell if they implied it (or meant to) in the video, and I'm guessing you can probably answer that for me. Thanks.
@SoldierForChrist017 I think the main reason I do it is to show the folly and hypocrisy, and even the inconsistency of the people that use the archaeology argument to make their case, whatever it may be, biblical proof or whatever, and then when this stuff comes along even stronger archaeology argument in favor of Book of Mormon events and places.... they will not consider that.
That's about the only reason I do it... to point out their inconsistency. I have always championed PRAYER myself.
@mormonanswerman obvious? to who? it either is or it's not. My ancestors took their religion very seriously. I would be happy to know if you believe that the BOM Temples were made in the manner of Solomon. Please answer the question directly and not Millet me ok?..lol
@Gideon6640man Archaeology is such a crude measurement of anything. Its like conjecture. You dig something up and then the scientist starts hypothesizing about what it means, who lived there, how many kids they had and what they had for breakfast... sometimes from a fragment of a table cloth or something like that. Sorry to be so cynical, but when a small amount of data is used to extrapolate so much DETAIL, I admit, I do get very skeptical. Maybe its just me. I don't consider it proof.
@Gideon6640man The BOM mentions ONCE of a temple built after the manner of Solomon, and it was in the very beginning, and was probably very small considering the small beginning population. Nephi also mentions it was not as fancy. So, you are going to have to go into the CONJECTURE mode to figure out what that means, and well, why don't we just stick to personal prayer instead? I don't put a lot of stock into the archaeology stuff because it is such a broad brush.
Previously known Maya murals all depict the ruling elite, victories in battle, or religious themes. (Explore a map of Maya ruins.)
But exterior walls on a "painted pyramid" buried for centuries in the Mexican jungle (pictured, a corner of the pyramid undergoing excavations) have shown Maya scholars something completely different.
November 12, 2009—A series of unusual Maya wall murals, complete with hieroglyphic captions, are providing archaeologists with a priceless look at day-to-day life in the empire circa A.D. 620 to 700.
The Lehi Stone is an archeological artifact that was discovered in 1941 by archaeologist Matthew W. Stirling. The carving has been dated to the Preclassic Guillen Phase between 300 BC and 50 AD. While both LDS and Non-LDS scholars continue to debate the interpretation of the carving, it's hard to ignore its striking similarity to Lehi's dream referred to as the "Tree of Life" as found in the Book of Mormon - 1 Nephi chapter 8.
@Tobsy1981 The rock glyphs show light AND dark skinned people (Nephites and Lamanites), so how do you explain this away? The Nephites DO NOT exist anymore, and I think that is apparent. Matches the Book of Mormon.
Nephites/Lamanites never existed. Which glyphs are you referring to? The Maya still exist, their isn't a drop of "Nephite/semitic/hebrew blood in them and aren't you forgetting that the B.O.M Cumorah site is in Palmyra New york?
@Tobsy1981 Among the art of the ruins of ancient Central and South America, you will frequently find pictorial depictions representing two groups of people. One group has light skin and the other has dark skin. This is interesting to note because these images weren't discovered by the archaeological world until the late 1800's to early 1900's. However the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith translated in the 1830's clearly talks about these two groups of people.

@Tobsy1981 NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAYAN MURALS OF DAILY LIFE DEPICT WHITE AND DARK SKINNED PEOPLE. November 12, 2009—A series of unusual Maya wall murals, complete with hieroglyphic captions, are providing archaeologists with a priceless look at day-to-day life in the empire circa A.D. 620 to 700. In these Mayan murals are the light and dark skinned people that coexisted when the Nephites and Lamanites were both on the land. However, the Nephites are gone now, just like the Book of Mormon says...
I guess the big question is, if you believe the Nephites to be Mayans, there are temporal and cultural disparities that need to be addressed. Big ones.
@Nigeman I'm not so sure about that. The Nephites died out in 400 AD according to the record, and yet the Mayans carried on for another 1000 years until they were discovered. A lot can happen in 1000 years to make things very very different from what took place in the Book of Mormon record.
For example, can you find ANY traces of the Red Sea parting in the Old Testament? Any horses or chariots of the Pharoh's army, and soldiers that got drowned? There were 1000's and 1000's of them. Where?
Turns out Nephi fits the description of the 1st Inca king, Manco Capac. I read a document on the parallels of the two. Google "Nephi inca king" and look for the hyperlink that says "Was Nephi the First Inca King? - Was the First Inca King"
Interesting that you have made the leap equating the Maya with the Nephites when Church owned Maxwell Institute/ FARMS disagrees with you and the Church’s official position on the subject of Book of Mormon geography is neutrality. Are you saying that you know more than Church leadership? Maxwell Institute / FARMS article, Armor in the Book of Mormon, William J. Hamblin explains, “Finally, despite the basic similarities, it is important to emphasize that the Nephites were not the Maya,…”
@Rodstervid321 It's all just opinions. I'm not doubting their study and their scholarly works. I look at all of this as intelligent people making opinions on things, and they can be overbearing on their opinions if they want to, just because they have PhD credentials. So do the vast majority of scientists in today's world who also ascribe to macro evolution, monkeys to man stuff, and deny God and let alone Adam and Eve.
Its ever learning, and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
@mormonanswerman Hey thanks for posting this clip. I wish that I had known about it sooner. A friend once told me about his mission when he served in that area. He told me that there is a tribe in that area that has a legend about a man that once descended from the sky and perform great works among the people.
@Rodstervid321 I am not dissing science and education. Indeed, I am educated myself with a B.S. in Engineering so I do know the sciences, etc. but what I disdain is when individuals think they are so learned that they can TELL us their opinions with certainty, when it is still an opinion, and because of their PRIDE, they are offended when people don't just believe them because they are so learned... like that's the deciding factor in their mind. Well, not for me.
@Rodstervid321 One more thought. I don't believe that the life of the Nephites and Lamanites existed SOLELY in the Meso America area, but there was a narrow neck of land, the days journey for a Nephite, and that fits there. There was also this great buildup of cities, Zarahemla being the chief and main city. That fits too. Then there were the wars which caused people to spread out, and that war spread into North America and ended at the Hill Cumorah. What's so hard about that to believe???
a simple question for the back yard professor, who has blocked me from comment, If the book of mormon sword is a wooden mallet encrusted with flint stone then what is the Sword of Laban made of ? The sword of Laban mentioned in the book of mormon is described as steel and was part of Joseph Smiths buried treasure find ?
Funny they have never mentioned the Jerodites,Nephites or the Lamanites at any of the Mayan ruins that I have visited in my life. Palenque,Chitchen Itza,Tulum,Kabah, Uxmal. The Mayans have nothing in common with the ancient Hebrews understand? Their writing ,language, religion, ethnicty, and architecture are unrelated. If you want to keep your faith it would be better that you didn't learn about preColumbian Mesoamerica.
@freethinker143 Actually its not funny at all. It makes sense. Anyone who has ever heard of the dead sea scrolls knows that it is a FACT that records get HID UP to protect them from destruction by their enemies. The Book of Mormon records also got HID UP and preserved. You are not going to find the evidence you seek, just like BEFORE the dead sea scrolls were discovered, you could not have that evidence either.
@mormonanswerman The title of this video is misleading. The content does not support the title. there are NO CONNECTIONS between the imaginary Nephites and Lamanites and any real civilization. Archeology & anthropology has discovered information about the Inca, Aztec, Toltec, Maya, Olmec, etc. We Know something about their language & their religion. None of them were christian. None of them were nephites or lamanites.
@SunKider The title is what I think and believe. Its not misleading. Its correct as far as I am concerned. You should read the book and find out about it.
@freethinker143 I still believe that the mayans have a lot in common with the nephites and lamanites, there is a lot of archeaological evidence, but the most important is the testimony of the Holy Spirit, that cames when you sincerly read the Book of Mormon, and ask with faith to know the true. You should find your answers by reading the Book Of Mormon.
@plusmin09 The scriptures are true to me. So I do use them. There is a scientific method to find out the truth on spiritual things. I have a video on that, you might check it out.
see watch?v=3c1ohSJAvVU for my vid on scientific method to find truth. It is God's method, and God owns science, in other words, science is a SUBSET of what God knows and can do. Like science says gravity is a constant. But God knows how to make it NOT a constant and can defy it and fly through the air. OUR science is a SUBSET of the master set of science, known to God.
@mormonanswerman I will check out that vid and get back to you.
But as of now, you saying that science is a subset of God's science and that any scientific laws will vary by God's command seems ludicrous. It will have no tangible evidence because it would defy what we logically base all reality on.
@plusmin09 OK, but keep in mind that it is YOU that considers science the superset, and religion would have to jibe with science if it is to be believed. All I can say, as a student of the sciences myself, is that science is EVER CHANGING and updating itself. We only recently found out, for instance, that the Global Warming Scientists were LYING to us. So now all of that data has changed and been updated with some truth that matches our COLD COLD weather, for instance.
@mormonanswerman I watched your video, and I respect your reverence and humility. None the less, religious beliefs are not something that can be debated logically.
Saying the only way to disprove the claims is to spend hours reading, interpreting, preparing, & praying about it is unfairly one sided.
With all that time spent, wouldn't anyone want something positive to come from it, as to not have let that time be wasted? Unless they want to prove it wrong, It is a placebo affect in your favor.
@plusmin09 Well that's a good point, not wanting to waste one's time. However, on the scientific side of things I would have to spend a couple of DECADES to get enough knowledge to know one way or another, and I fear I would end up like some of these scientists who's stories I have read where they are not aligned with the majority of scientists, but have great doubts on the soundness of the science, that which was built on assumptions now unraveling. Intelligent Design comes to mind.
@mormonanswerman With something like faith, I'm doubt that even decades could enable someone to come to an unquestionable conclusion.
I'm agnostic, so I don't disagree with the concept of intelligent design. I appreciate the optimism that comes with thinking of a higher power. I don't believe in any organized religion though. There are too many faults for me to want to participate in any.
@LDS4Life71 I was born into mormonism and spent 16 years being preached to. I was baptized, ordained, payed tithing, followed the rules, and would bare my "testimony". It felt fake, it felt forced, and I felt used; hence I left.
Ask any devoted member of any religion and they'll say that it's writings are the best.
I'm not going to spend my time reading thousands of pages of fairy tales and then even more time contemplating and praying about it when I can do something productive instead.
@plusmin09 The Book of Mormon is not a fairy tale, and I have found out for myself that it is true, that it is the word of God. Each day that I read it, it is confirmed to my soul all over again that it is God's word. I do know that. So that's all I can tell you.
The Mayan story of creation (which is recounted in the pyramid) says that the gods first tried to make people out of mud, but they crumbles and washed away. The gods then made men out of wood, but they had no souls and wouldn't worship the gods. The gods fianlly made men out of corn dough and that's where we came from. Are you telling me that this proves the book of Mormon?
@kramd1 actually I think it is crazy to NOT try what I have been telling you to try, and to try and gain a testimony of the truth from God, for yourself. What have you got to lose by trying this? Go ahead and DOUBT, it is your choice, but I am counseling you to have some FAITH and give this a try. I have, and it does work, and God does answer prayers, and I am very happy to tell you that truth. :)
@Mrgyn - Mormons are not claiming these pyramids as Mormon Pyramids. They are Mayan pyramids... and according to the Book of Mormon record, the Nephites helped to build some of these pyramids. Their cultures were inter-twined. In NO instance do members of the LDS church claim that these structures belonged to Nephi and his fellows... Nephi may have been instrumental in certain aspects of their building and he caused his people to be industrious. You need to get your facts straight before u doubt
It's really a shame that all these bitter ANTIMORMONS splattered your page with their filth! You and I both know their fate and we will be vindicated.
excuse me, but even as a defender of the LDS faith, I don't see how any pyramid would validate the Book of Mormon, since it never spoke of pyramids, whether built by the Nephites or the Lamanites. Lehi and his family did speak Egyptian indeed, but their descendants were said to build temples and religious monuments. Well ?
@LDSfaithDefender I am not suggesting that these pyramid like structures are validating the Book of Mormon. For those that believe the Book of Mormon is a record of some of the events that took place on the North and South American continents from 2500 BC to 421 AD, we can look at these kind of findings and wonder if it is the same. I believe it is. Maybe that's just me. But the Book of Mormon doesn't give ANY details as to what Zarahemla was built like. But who were these people? Mayan? no
@mormonanswerman Mate, you're trying too hard to reconcile the Book of Mormon with archaeological and historical fact. The Book of Mormon is not true, and it will never be proven to be true. Joseph Smith was a false prophet. However, if you want to know the truth, open the Holy Bible. It tells the whole story from beginning to end. Put your trust in the Word of God. Don't put your trust in another book. The Mormons are wrong when they say the Bible has been corrupted. It's a total lie.
@blicksflicks You are off base in your assessment of what I am doing here. I believe the Bible. I would venture to say that I believe the Bible more than you do. I think that anyone that REALLY believes the Bible, COMPLETELY, will have no problem also believing the Book of Mormon. But here we have you not doing that, and it is because you don't believe the Bible. You are a doubter.
Did Jesus walk on water? Did a donkey talk? Did Mose part a Red Sea? The flood happen? Adam and Eve real?
@mormonanswerman What in the world are you talking about? I never said I didn't believe the Bible. Of course, I believe the Bible in its entirety. However, I don't believe the Book of Mormon, because it comes from the false prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is not inspired by God. In fact, the Bible says not to add or take away from the Word of God. The Book of Mormon's very archaeological statements are false. There's no proof whatsoever of Nephites, Laminites and all that other garbage.
@blicksflicks So you believe in the talking donkey? The great flood, and the parting of the Red Sea AND Adam and Eve as the first parents even though science debunks these four things based on lack of evidence and scientific reality?
I say, if you can believe this, and I guess you do, then you believe in miraculous things. OR, you don't know anything at all and just have a prideful opinion that is somehow right because you grew up on it. Which is it?
@blicksflicks Joseph Smith didn't write the book of Mormon, if you believe the bible in its entirety you would believe the book of Mormon, cause the bible foretold the coming of the extra scriptures like the book of Mormon. there is a Phethora of PROOF, and EVIDENCES that the book of MORMON was a true and AUTHENTIC record for us today, and it truly testifys of the divinity that JESUS CHRIST is the ruler of the earth, and not just the mesopotamia.
@mormonanswerman I hate to break it to you, but DNA research has confirmed there are no links between Native Americans and ancient Israelites. Not only that, but archaeology has never proven the Book of Mormon to be true. However, there is much history and archaeology to support the stories of the Bible. Thus, the Bible is true; the Book of Mormon is not true. Get out while you can, mate. LDS is apostate! Run to Jesus before you die. He's the Son of the living God and the Savior!
@blicksflicks Don't pull that DNA nonsense into the discussion, because you DON'T have the sacred stone tablets, you don't have any proof of the Red Sea parting, of the great flood and waters covering the earth, or for Adam and Eve. Science points to things that CONFLICT with what you believe... and how did you come to believe it anyway? Opinion? Or did you get revelations from God like I did.
I say with confidence, I do know the Book of Mormon is true. DNA, indeed, like they know!!
@blicksflicks Archaeology never proved the Bible is true, either. Not sure why your kind of Christians always think that is some good argument, because it most definitely is NOT. In fact, there are MORE stories in the Bible that are much MUCH harder to believe than exists in the Book of Mormon.
You need a LOT more faith to believe the Bible than you do to believe the Book of Mormon, and archaeology does NOT prove Adam and Eve, the great flood, walking on water, or water turned to wine. NONE.
@mormonanswerman The bottom line is this: the Bible is true, and the Book of Mormon is not. The Bible is the Word of God. Of course, I believe in the miracles of the Bible, because the Bible is the Word of God. However, the Book of Mormon is not part of the Word of God. It never has been. Do not be deceived! Joseph Smith was no prophet. Jesus was the last Word on everything.
@blicksflicks You don't say how you know ANYthing. I have said. I have received revelations as the scriptures teach us to do. I have prayed and I have received answers from God. I do know this is real and you have not mentioned HOW you know the Bible is true and the word of God. You are just spouting words and opinions and it is not with any credibility to just say "the bible is true! the book of mormon is not!" Just sounds like a childish opinion, not too sure of itself...
@mormonanswerman I believe the Bible is true, because it's the Word of God. I don't know why I believe. Maybe God gave me the faith. I mean, after all, everything of the Spirit comes from God. Still, the Bible says not to add to the Word. There is no other testament of Jesus Christ. Read: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:" (Rev. 22:18).
Well I have been telling you that there is a way to know something for sure and not just have a hunch or an opinion on these spiritual books. You can pray about them, ask God, and then wait for answers from Him, and you will get them if you pray in faith.
Let's say you DOUBT the Book of Mormon. Then you pray to ask if its true. Well, James already said "let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. " (James 1:7)
@mormonanswerman Here's another example. See Jarom 1:8: The Nephites "multplied exceedingly" and "became exceedingly rich" in gold, silver, iron, copper, brass, and steel making tools and weapons "of every kind." This was BEFORE steel existed, of course, and no evidence for any of these Nephite weapons, tools, cities, or technologies have ever been found throughout the entirety of American archaeology. Don't you find that kind of strange? If the Bible made mistakes like that, we'd be trouble.
@blicksflicks Steel did not exist yet? That's like saying that boats did not exist yet when some ancient record says they built a boat. All inspiration comes from God. Who is to say that ONE person in the world invents steel, and there is no possible way that someone ELSE on the other side of the world who will never meet this other steel inventor, ALSO invents steel, because GOD gave him the inspiration also to alloy metals? Is that so hard to comprehend, that there NEVER was just ONE?
@blicksflicks There are all kinds of BOATS and SHIPS in the world, and the builders of these did not have to see it done by others to make such an invention. Why would anyone think that there has to be a FIRST and ONLY inventor of something?
When I got a patent on my musical instrument, I discovered MANY similar devices in the patent search. IMAGINE THAT!!! I was not so original.
@mormonanswerman Allegedly, the Nephites built cities, temples, synagogues, sanctuaries, "and all manner of buildings." But no trace of them has ever been found. See Helaman 3:9 in the Book of Mormon. If such places existed, we would have found some kind of evidence of it. Just as we find left overs from the Aztecs, Mayans and early American civilizations. However, nothing has ever been found to substantiate the claims of the Book of Mormon.
@blicksflicks We never found Sodom and Gomorrah either. We also never found the MILLIONS of skeletons from the Children of Israel who DIED in the wilderness over the 40 year period of time. NOTHING, NADA... so?
Why is this important to you?
Just pray to know the truth, because these other methods are FRAUGHT with uncertainty and the arm of flesh reasoning. Its a cursed way to trust in things. Trust in GOD.
Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. WOW!
@mormonanswerman Native Americans are in no way linked to ancient Israelites. The Book of Mormon is bogus. Joseph Smith was a false prophet. You better start putting your faith in the Word of God and chunk the Book of Mormon. Also, better yet, you better put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. He was God manifested in the flesh. Jesus is Lord. No one comes to the Father but by Him. You'd be better off attending a Baptist church and escaping many false Mormon doctrines.
@blicksflicks So, I am saying, STOP with the DNA nonsense, the archaeology nonsense, and all the other things that you think "proves' the Bible or the Book of Mormon true or not, because its not and never has been about THOSE things. It is supposed to be about prayer. About revelation. About a true relationship with God. God will guide us, God will speak to us and assure us of truth. This is done by the power of the HOLY GHOST and that is the purpose of that member of the Godhead: revelator.
@mormonanswerman Actually, archaeology does prove much of the history of the Bible. Israel, the Red Sea, the Sea of Galilee and many other places and things exist today that give weight to the Bible. We have skulls of first century Jews from the Middle East. We know that they existed and lived in the areas the Bible says. However, we have no archaeological proof of Lamanites or Nephites or whatever people from the Book of Mormon living in the Americas. It's totally a lie! It never happened.
@blicksflicks So the Bible mentions a few places that actually exist, places like the Red Sea and Jerusalem. Guess what?? So does the Book of Mormon!! It mentions those same places!
So is THIS how you find the truth? Is THIS your method?
@mormonanswerman But, I don't think you get it. The Bible does not stick its foot in its mouth like the Book of Mormon. For example, Nephi makes many swords [like Laban's, made of "the most precious steel" (1 Ne 4:9)]. Yet, there is no evidence of metal swords in the New World before Columbus. 5:14. Check out Nephi. It's filled with archaeological impossibilities. Such evidence has never been found in America. Not one smidgeon. They didn't even have steel back then.
@blicksflicks It is MUCH more logical that someone ELSE could have also known all about metal alloys and made things of brass, steel, etc. etc. Its not so hard a leap of logic. Yet you are struggling with this. Why?
Yet you do not struggle over things like the ark, the global flood, the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, talking donkey, etc. etc., parting Red Sea, dry ground on the bottom of it, etc. etc., and you STRAIN over STEEL?????
@mormonanswerman Well, I'll give you an example of a flaw in the Book of Mormon. For example, Nephi named a "continually running" river that flowed from Arabia to the Red Sea after his son Laman. But there are no permanent rivers in Arabia, and there hasn't been since the Pleistocene. Such mistakes are never made in the Bible. In fact, such a mistake is NEVER made in the Bible, because the Bible is the Word of God, and the Book of Mormon is not.
@blicksflicks No, the Bible talks about Moses striking a rock and a river gushes out of it. No, that's COMPLETELY logical, that Moses could get water to come out of a rock and quench the thirst of TWO MILLION PEOPLE!! Totally logical.
You are straining over a little fountain of water that Lehi saw while in the wilderness near the Red Sea 2600 years ago? Maybe its gone now! Who knows? Why struggle over this, and yet you don't think of MOSES' adventures?
@kramd1 ...and I am COMPLETELY OK with that. If I lived in the days of Moses, I would have believed. I would not have worshiped that golden calf. The many miracles that Moses did by the power of God and the fire from heaven, the parting of the Red Sea, I would have been converted forever. I would not have complained over the manna. I would have believed it ALL, for it was EASY with all those miracles.
Today we live more by faith. ...but Faith is EVIDENCE of things not seen, but which are true
@kramd1 I know you are a doubter, but you can not take my personal testimony away from me, and you can't damage it in any way. It is completely protected from you really, and it is a great strength to me. Its just like the ARMOR that the scriptures compared this to. You can throw your arrows and darts of doubt and skepticism out there, and the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD will be there to deflect it. That's just the way it works. You have absolutely no power of persuasion with your words of doubts...
@kramd1 Here it is, the assurance from the scriptures of God:
Eph. 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
cont., 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
@beone011 I don't believe they are lies. I'm just putting this interesting stuff out there. You don't have to believe this. You should first just focus on the Book of Mormon text, read it, and see if it is not teaching good things about God and Jesus Christ. I can tell you that it is.
@mormonanswerman I will stay with the Holy Bible, At least real christians aren't trying to fictionaliize Native American history and heritage as the mormon religion does. This is the whole premise of the mormon book. If I told you and your relatives were from timbuktu and we called you -------ities you would see the foolishness of your religion.
@beone011 No, I just see you as a doubter? Have some faith and believe something! There are many things which are true and you can find out by asking God our father in Heaven.
"Maya glyphs were used in the same six ways as those in Egyptian writing." (A Comparison of Maya and Egyptian Heiroglyphs, Katunob 11, August 1979, pg. 1-8.)(46)
many cultures have the same creation story, just like many cultures, from south america, africa, australia, etc have stories of noahs flood. it doesnt mean they are jews. genetic evidence shows native americans were descended from siberians, not jews.
@soccer21928 Because I do believe they are one in the same, but I don't think it is limited to the Meso America area at all. I think the Book of Mormon is a 1000 year period of time that no one could possibly know where it all took place. Have you read the book?
@mormonanswerman even if you do believe they are one in the same, the video is not about that at all. as for the book of mormon, ive read enough of it.
@soccer21928 Well, I think its fascinating to see all of these ancient civilizations popping up and there is a book that seems to really go along with it all, the Book of Mormon.
We proud Native Americans don't believe in fairytale mormon "beliefs". What a joke. I guess you can believe anything if your told enough times-brainwashed. Native beliefs and heritage attacked again by modern whiteman. Ha Ha Ha Ha mormons are alright but dead wrong on natives and they have alot to learn from us.
@beone011 Well, watch out for pride, it usually precedes the fall and does not have a lot of redeeming value to it. I am sorry but your comments seem to have angst towards the "white man" since you use that term... Isn't all of that supposed to be in the past? I mean, its been a long time ago since the cowboys and indians struggles
@mormonanswerman I am proud to tell you the truth! If you think its been along time ago since the cowboys and indian struggles then stop trying to rewrite a proud native heritage and history it makes you all look like fools. You are brainwashed pal in your little religion box. see mormon woman goes to hell on youtube.
@beone011 OK, this "mormon" says she never read the bible in her life for the whole time she was a mormon. OK, that's a CLUE. She's NOT a real mormon. She's one of those phonies that says she was a mormon, but she did not live her religion. She says she CURSED GOD, shoved her fist through the wall, and then started hemorrhaging, goes to hospital, goes to hell. She wasn't "saved" and by that she thinks mormonism was not true? No, She CURSED God. You don't get heaven if you do that!! Wow.
I find it funny when Mormons say we shouldnt rely on tangible evidence, but as soon as they find something that has a million in one chance of supporting it they will sing and shout lol
@crazy456eyes Bible has only a few things that also have a million in one chance of supporting it too. Like the great flood. Actually, I can't think of anything that supports that much. I take it on faith. Actually I take the whole Bible on faith. I don't depend on man's archaeology to fix my faith in the Bible.
But when something like this comes along, I'll pass it along if I think it is interesting.
@Mrgyn AMEN brother! We natives don't believe in fairytales. We believe in god, the earth, the creator of all we are experiencing. mormon=religion, God+Jesus=truth. Its ok to write fairytales, its a joke to try and lie to proud natives about their past. mormons are good people but dead wrong about native history and heritage. ha ha ha
@beone011 You guys always cross the line when you start calling others liars for their beliefs. I think I am absolutely SURE that what I believe is the truth. I am not lying about it, and you have no right to call others liars and judge people like that, at least and say you believe in God who commanded NOT to do such things.
@Mrgyn Keep an open mind, that's all I ask. It may not even be there in Meso America, but no one seems to know who those people were, and the possibilities for the Book of Mormon are endless.
@blugularis The Lamanite and Nephite civilizations took place in the Americas, and Meso America has many evidences of these civilizations. Are you familiar with the Book of Mormon?
@mormonanswerman Stop begging for open mindedness. Just produce your legitimate evidence/s for the BoM. Yes I'm familiar with the BoM and for the record, the most credible Philosopher in it is Korihor.
There is definitely something about Creation mentioned in ancient Mayan cultures (as there are in most cultures), but to suggest they were looking forward to the coming of Jesus, there is nothing in this discovery that correlates with ancient prophecies about the coming of the Messiah.
@Drooblemeister The main thing, for me, the main thing is that the archaeologists previous reasonings and conclusions about the Mayans were ALL WRONG. Now all this changes things. It proves that science is only as good as the data available for making assumptions, and its very limited. In other words, people should NOT jump to the conclusion that these civilizations were NOT the Nephites and Lamanites. In fact, they should be even MORE open minded about it.
Scholars today snicker at the notion of peaceful, calendar-happy Maya. The Maya were considered the Greeks of the New World, and the Aztecs were seen as Romans--one pure, original and beautiful, the other slavish, derivative and cold." But, like other pioneers later proved wrong, Morley and Thompson made reasonable inferences from limited data. The ancient Maya, we now know, were an exceedingly aggressive and warlike people: blood was the mortar" of their society.
yeah... you know a lot. Scholars know more. What did you watch mel gibsons movie? and mainstream media. This is sad people are going to believe this and believe things like you believe. I am sure the older scholars had a lot less reason to manipulate the data they found before presenting it to the public. please try to SEE what the media is trying to do to the consciousness of humanity. They are drowning it and we need to free ourselves. And mormon's had nothing to touch the maya
I did not see anything that supports any BoM claims either. Seems a shame to mix Mormon falsehood with good science. In fact, the number of man-hours to build the pyramid underscores the population growth problems with the BoM that remain insurmountable (no pun intended). Suggest we just absorb the findings at face value and rename the video appropriately.
Are you kidding me? The family of Lehi was only a PART of the people that came over in the record. Read the record.
In 200 years the US population as grown to hundreds of millions. Even with birth control and abortion on demand and promiscuity, etc.
Don't you think that a 1000 years of the Book of Mormon is time enough to see hundreds of millions, let alone millions. Its easy. Just do the math. In 100 years you can get a million people from the family of Lehi ALONE under certain conditions.
Yes, under certain conditions, unbounded exponential population growth can occur. Historically, this has only happened, as far as anthropologists can determine, since the advent of modern medical care in the 1950s. So we have to decide, what is the probability that this one exception to the rule occurred? Plus, we need to factor in the actual population research done by scientists for Native Americans - there is no evidence of populations explosions on this continent.
Did you know there's no evidence of 2 million Hebrew Slaves exodus from Egypt? Are you a Christian and does this matter to you?
Listen, if we had to trust in anthropologists for everything there would be very little evidence of any history at all. Who needs it? They offer interesting stuff, and I don't mean to knock their work, but its all just opinions based on a very few pieces of the puzzle of civilizations. So few pieces in a million piece puzzle!
Just like the Bible, the Book of Mormon lacks many specific evidences of events, peoples, and places. Its all the same level of proofs available. That's why this Meso American find is so significant! There is little of this going on, because there is so little people looking for and finding these kinds of things.
They have to do so much digging, the archaeologists! But they dig only little spots at a time. So much missed! No evidence means so very little even still.
"Just like the Bible, the Book of Mormon lacks many specific evidences of events, peoples, and places."
Is that a joke? You can go to Jericho, Bethlehem, and any number of places mentioned in the Bible. Name ONE BofM place that can be scientifically identified....Just ONE.
If there was a shred of legit evidence to substantiate the BofM, the LDS church would be shouting it from the rooftops.....but there's only *sound of crickets* from SLC.
It was! nice try, but by placing Popol Vuh smack dab during the BOM times it truly shows the roots of the Mayan people, and it is the sole reason history is being rewritten about them, and that friar Diego of the 16th century lied to the world.
HAHA there isn't any chinese influence about Mayan glyphs. They have no similarity in fact. They resemble Egyptian glyphs in several aspects.
"Maya glyphs were used in the same six ways as those in Egyptian writing." (A Comparison of Maya and Egyptian Heiroglyphs, Katunob 11, August 1979, pg. 1-8.)(46)
How would you feel, once archaeologists find more findings showing that this pyramid has nothing to do with any so-called Lamanite/Nephite civilisations?
If we do as we're instructed, if we go straight to the temple and we take care of our duties and assignments there and then we come straight home, everything will be fine."
When he had submitted his name to become a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tate understood that his work would require a lot of faith and discipline to make it through the rough patches. Nobody had ever told him, however, that he would need a bulletproof vest to defend himself against shotgun-wielding, testosterone-infused, redneck ex-boyfriends of baptism candidates.
Many Latter-day Saint scholars consider the Popol Vuh to be the most authentic source of ancient pre-Columbian history and religion from the New World outside canonized scripture. Although the Popol Vuh was compiled centuries after the Book of Mormon record was completed, Christenson's translation of that work will interest enthusiasts of pre-Columbian texts and those intrigued by ancient literature of the Americas.
The Popol Vuh is the most important example of pre-Columbian Maya literature to have survived the Spanish Conquest. . . . The first line of the Popol Vuh declares the book to be u xe' ojër tzij, which may be translated literally as 'its root ancient word.'
"Then Tepeu and Gucumatz came together; then they conferred about life and light, what they would do so that there would be light and dawn, who it would be who would provide food and sustenance.
Thus let it be done! Let the emptiness be filled! Let the water recede and make a void, let the earth appear and become solid; let it be done. "
Thus they spoke. Let there be light, let there be dawn in the sky and on the earth! There shall be neither glory nor grandeur in our creation and formation until the human being is made, man is formed"
I can't wait until they find the tombs of the King and discover names such as' Nephi, Benjamin... etc... but knowing our "opponents" they'll suggest that names like Nefiah and Beanjarm are just coincidental... lol
I'm mormon so i found this video interesting, but the video itself doesn't say anything about mormonism. so why give it this title?
AdmiralCoolkid 8 months ago 2

Fact is, Nephites (Mayans?) believed in creation.
mormonanswerman 10 months ago 2
No it is not the same keep believing in what you believe soon you'll find the truth
theyoungstud420 10 months ago
Anti Mo zealot's will find some way to dispute this. The murals could depict Lehi's family and they'd discount it. These findings are cool but they'll never convert.
1pt21jigawatt 10 months ago
The murals—discovered in 2004 at the Maya site of Calakmul—depict ordinary people enjoying much more casual pursuits, according to a new, detailed description of the wall art.
"There's really nothing like this in any of the [known] murals. These are totally unexpected," said Maya expert Michael D. Coe, curator emeritus at Yale University's Peabody Museum of Natural History and editor of the new paper.
There are BOTH dark AND light skinned people in the mural. So obvious a Nephite.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman "There are BOTH dark AND light skinned people in the mural. So obvious a Nephite."
Wow! What flawed logic. You start from a false assumption, "the church is true" you'll never discover anything thinking like that. Copying and pasting from Mormon sites doesn't constitute research either. You haven't addressed the fact that Joseph Smith claimed Cumorah was in New York.
Tobsy1981 1 year ago
@Tobsy1981 I think it is in New York too. What's the problem with that?
You know, we STILL have not found ANY traces of 2,000,000 Hebrew Slaves under the direction of MOSES for over 40 YEARS in the wilderness of Egypt. Still missing, after all these years.
Don't talk of Cumorah until you find all that first. Obviously archaelogy IS as faulty of a proof as I ever thought it was. You'd think that some of these think that everything's been found already. No...
mormonanswerman 10 months ago
@mormonanswerman that is proof? May I ask that you define "proof" as far as archeology is concered? Have any BOM artifacts been found and proven to be beyond a shadow of a doubt? I have another question, Michael Coe is quoted many times my LDS implying he supports the BOM account of great civiizations in MesoAmerica but he denied this in no uncertain terms.(see (Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Summer 1973, pp. 41, 42 & 46) so why is he quoted by LDS folk?
Gideon6640man 10 months ago
@Gideon6640man Professor Anthon approved of the Egyptian characters that Martin Harris showed to him, UNTIL he heard that they got the gold plates from an ANGEL of God. Then he denied it all.
Same with Poe. He gives all these facts that back up the Book of Mormon, and then says, in effect, "these do not back up the Book of Mormon." Same difference. A faithless man busying himself with facts. Ever learning and never able to come a knowledge of the truth. So common in these last days.
mormonanswerman 10 months ago
@mormonanswerman OMG,So who cares about Anthon etc..your avoiding the question. the papyri is in the hands of the LDS church, So Coe is wrong? he does not know the Maya civilization? Archeology does not lie. I ask you if there is any Nephite artifacts anywhere were they can be examined, yes or no. It;;s not a complicated question guy. I bought two Widows Mites a couple of years ago and they date from the time of Christ. You have any Nephite coins? or do you know where I can get one?
Gideon6640man 10 months ago
@Gideon6640man There were no Nephite "coins" but measures, and there is a difference. It means you are not going to find coins. Did then find any? No, so does that prove the Book of Mormon #LOL actually NONE of the archaeology stuff proves anything about scriptures being true. In order to know this you are going to have to pray about it. What is the POINT of putting importance on archaeology, when you are going to have to pray to God to ask if it is true anyway? Did the archaeology matter?
mormonanswerman 10 months ago
@mormonanswerman Sir. If you don't put a lot of stock in archaeology, don't consider it proof, and don't see a point in placing importance on archaeology, then why are you using this video about an archaeological discovery/location as a support for your religion? Also, is the Mayan creation story the same as Christian creation story? I couldn't tell if they implied it (or meant to) in the video, and I'm guessing you can probably answer that for me. Thanks.
SoldierForChrist017 9 months ago
@SoldierForChrist017 I think the main reason I do it is to show the folly and hypocrisy, and even the inconsistency of the people that use the archaeology argument to make their case, whatever it may be, biblical proof or whatever, and then when this stuff comes along even stronger archaeology argument in favor of Book of Mormon events and places.... they will not consider that.
That's about the only reason I do it... to point out their inconsistency. I have always championed PRAYER myself.
mormonanswerman 9 months ago
@mormonanswerman obvious? to who? it either is or it's not. My ancestors took their religion very seriously. I would be happy to know if you believe that the BOM Temples were made in the manner of Solomon. Please answer the question directly and not Millet me ok?..lol
Gideon6640man 10 months ago
@Gideon6640man Archaeology is such a crude measurement of anything. Its like conjecture. You dig something up and then the scientist starts hypothesizing about what it means, who lived there, how many kids they had and what they had for breakfast... sometimes from a fragment of a table cloth or something like that. Sorry to be so cynical, but when a small amount of data is used to extrapolate so much DETAIL, I admit, I do get very skeptical. Maybe its just me. I don't consider it proof.
mormonanswerman 10 months ago

While both LDS and Non-LDS scholars continue to debate the interpretation of the carving, it's hard to ignore its striking similarity to Lehi's dream referred to as the "Tree of Life" as found in the Book of Mormon - 1 Nephi chapter 8.

No,don't be stupid. The Nephites/Lamanites are fictional the Mayans existed and still exist.
Tobsy1981 1 year ago
@Tobsy1981 The rock glyphs show light AND dark skinned people (Nephites and Lamanites), so how do you explain this away? The Nephites DO NOT exist anymore, and I think that is apparent. Matches the Book of Mormon.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman
Nephites/Lamanites never existed. Which glyphs are you referring to? The Maya still exist, their isn't a drop of "Nephite/semitic/hebrew blood in them and aren't you forgetting that the B.O.M Cumorah site is in Palmyra New york?
Tobsy1981 1 year ago
@Tobsy1981 Among the art of the ruins of ancient Central and South America, you will frequently find pictorial depictions representing two groups of people. One group has light skin and the other has dark skin. This is interesting to note because these images weren't discovered by the archaeological world until the late 1800's to early 1900's. However the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith translated in the 1830's clearly talks about these two groups of people.

I guess the big question is, if you believe the Nephites to be Mayans, there are temporal and cultural disparities that need to be addressed. Big ones.
Nigeman 1 year ago
@Nigeman I'm not so sure about that. The Nephites died out in 400 AD according to the record, and yet the Mayans carried on for another 1000 years until they were discovered. A lot can happen in 1000 years to make things very very different from what took place in the Book of Mormon record.
For example, can you find ANY traces of the Red Sea parting in the Old Testament? Any horses or chariots of the Pharoh's army, and soldiers that got drowned? There were 1000's and 1000's of them. Where?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago

I BELIEVE Maya is Nephite.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago

If you want to keep your faith it would be better that you didn't learn about preColumbian Mesoamerica.
freethinker143 1 year ago 9
@freethinker143 Actually its not funny at all. It makes sense. Anyone who has ever heard of the dead sea scrolls knows that it is a FACT that records get HID UP to protect them from destruction by their enemies. The Book of Mormon records also got HID UP and preserved. You are not going to find the evidence you seek, just like BEFORE the dead sea scrolls were discovered, you could not have that evidence either.
God tests our faith, He doesn't spell it all out.

You should read the book and find out about it.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@freethinker143 I still believe that the mayans have a lot in common with the nephites and lamanites, there is a lot of archeaological evidence, but the most important is the testimony of the Holy Spirit, that cames when you sincerly read the Book of Mormon, and ask with faith to know the true. You should find your answers by reading the Book Of Mormon.

How is this scientific proof when all you're doing is construing the facts then trying back them up with scriptures?
plusmin09 1 year ago
@plusmin09 The scriptures are true to me. So I do use them. There is a scientific method to find out the truth on spiritual things. I have a video on that, you might check it out.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@plusmin09
see watch?v=3c1ohSJAvVU for my vid on scientific method to find truth. It is God's method, and God owns science, in other words, science is a SUBSET of what God knows and can do. Like science says gravity is a constant. But God knows how to make it NOT a constant and can defy it and fly through the air. OUR science is a SUBSET of the master set of science, known to God.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman I will check out that vid and get back to you.
But as of now, you saying that science is a subset of God's science and that any scientific laws will vary by God's command seems ludicrous. It will have no tangible evidence because it would defy what we logically base all reality on.
plusmin09 1 year ago
@plusmin09 OK, but keep in mind that it is YOU that considers science the superset, and religion would have to jibe with science if it is to be believed. All I can say, as a student of the sciences myself, is that science is EVER CHANGING and updating itself. We only recently found out, for instance, that the Global Warming Scientists were LYING to us. So now all of that data has changed and been updated with some truth that matches our COLD COLD weather, for instance.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago

Intelligent Design comes to mind.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago

I'm not going to spend my time reading thousands of pages of fairy tales and then even more time contemplating and praying about it when I can do something productive instead.
plusmin09 1 year ago

I have, and it does work, and God does answer prayers, and I am very happy to tell you that truth. :)

@Mrgyn - Mormons are not claiming these pyramids as Mormon Pyramids. They are Mayan pyramids... and according to the Book of Mormon record, the Nephites helped to build some of these pyramids. Their cultures were inter-twined. In NO instance do members of the LDS church claim that these structures belonged to Nephi and his fellows... Nephi may have been instrumental in certain aspects of their building and he caused his people to be industrious. You need to get your facts straight before u doubt

excuse me, but even as a defender of the LDS faith, I don't see how any pyramid would validate the Book of Mormon, since it never spoke of pyramids, whether built by the Nephites or the Lamanites. Lehi and his family did speak Egyptian indeed, but their descendants were said to build temples and religious monuments. Well ?
LDSfaithDefender 1 year ago

It's a total lie.
blicksflicks 1 year ago 5
@blicksflicks You are off base in your assessment of what I am doing here. I believe the Bible. I would venture to say that I believe the Bible more than you do. I think that anyone that REALLY believes the Bible, COMPLETELY, will have no problem also believing the Book of Mormon. But here we have you not doing that, and it is because you don't believe the Bible. You are a doubter.
Did Jesus walk on water? Did a donkey talk? Did Mose part a Red Sea? The flood happen? Adam and Eve real?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman What in the world are you talking about? I never said I didn't believe the Bible. Of course, I believe the Bible in its entirety. However, I don't believe the Book of Mormon, because it comes from the false prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is not inspired by God. In fact, the Bible says not to add or take away from the Word of God. The Book of Mormon's very archaeological statements are false. There's no proof whatsoever of Nephites, Laminites and all that other garbage.
blicksflicks 1 year ago 10
@blicksflicks So you believe in the talking donkey? The great flood, and the parting of the Red Sea AND Adam and Eve as the first parents even though science debunks these four things based on lack of evidence and scientific reality?
I say, if you can believe this, and I guess you do, then you believe in miraculous things. OR, you don't know anything at all and just have a prideful opinion that is somehow right because you grew up on it. Which is it?
Do you have a REAL testimony?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@blicksflicks Joseph Smith didn't write the book of Mormon, if you believe the bible in its entirety you would believe the book of Mormon, cause the bible foretold the coming of the extra scriptures like the book of Mormon. there is a Phethora of PROOF, and EVIDENCES that the book of MORMON was a true and AUTHENTIC record for us today, and it truly testifys of the divinity that JESUS CHRIST is the ruler of the earth, and not just the mesopotamia.

LDS4Life71 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman I hate to break it to you, but DNA research has confirmed there are no links between Native Americans and ancient Israelites. Not only that, but archaeology has never proven the Book of Mormon to be true. However, there is much history and archaeology to support the stories of the Bible. Thus, the Bible is true; the Book of Mormon is not true. Get out while you can, mate. LDS is apostate! Run to Jesus before you die. He's the Son of the living God and the Savior!
blicksflicks 1 year ago 4
@blicksflicks Don't pull that DNA nonsense into the discussion, because you DON'T have the sacred stone tablets, you don't have any proof of the Red Sea parting, of the great flood and waters covering the earth, or for Adam and Eve. Science points to things that CONFLICT with what you believe... and how did you come to believe it anyway? Opinion? Or did you get revelations from God like I did.
I say with confidence, I do know the Book of Mormon is true. DNA, indeed, like they know!!
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@blicksflicks Archaeology never proved the Bible is true, either. Not sure why your kind of Christians always think that is some good argument, because it most definitely is NOT. In fact, there are MORE stories in the Bible that are much MUCH harder to believe than exists in the Book of Mormon.
You need a LOT more faith to believe the Bible than you do to believe the Book of Mormon, and archaeology does NOT prove Adam and Eve, the great flood, walking on water, or water turned to wine. NONE.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman The bottom line is this: the Bible is true, and the Book of Mormon is not. The Bible is the Word of God. Of course, I believe in the miracles of the Bible, because the Bible is the Word of God. However, the Book of Mormon is not part of the Word of God. It never has been. Do not be deceived! Joseph Smith was no prophet. Jesus was the last Word on everything.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks You don't say how you know ANYthing. I have said. I have received revelations as the scriptures teach us to do. I have prayed and I have received answers from God. I do know this is real and you have not mentioned HOW you know the Bible is true and the word of God. You are just spouting words and opinions and it is not with any credibility to just say "the bible is true! the book of mormon is not!" Just sounds like a childish opinion, not too sure of itself...
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman I believe the Bible is true, because it's the Word of God. I don't know why I believe. Maybe God gave me the faith. I mean, after all, everything of the Spirit comes from God. Still, the Bible says not to add to the Word. There is no other testament of Jesus Christ. Read: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:" (Rev. 22:18).
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks So you have a hunch then?
Well I have been telling you that there is a way to know something for sure and not just have a hunch or an opinion on these spiritual books. You can pray about them, ask God, and then wait for answers from Him, and you will get them if you pray in faith.
Let's say you DOUBT the Book of Mormon. Then you pray to ask if its true. Well, James already said "let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. " (James 1:7)
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman Here's another example. See Jarom 1:8: The Nephites "multplied exceedingly" and "became exceedingly rich" in gold, silver, iron, copper, brass, and steel making tools and weapons "of every kind." This was BEFORE steel existed, of course, and no evidence for any of these Nephite weapons, tools, cities, or technologies have ever been found throughout the entirety of American archaeology. Don't you find that kind of strange? If the Bible made mistakes like that, we'd be trouble.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks Steel did not exist yet? That's like saying that boats did not exist yet when some ancient record says they built a boat. All inspiration comes from God. Who is to say that ONE person in the world invents steel, and there is no possible way that someone ELSE on the other side of the world who will never meet this other steel inventor, ALSO invents steel, because GOD gave him the inspiration also to alloy metals? Is that so hard to comprehend, that there NEVER was just ONE?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@blicksflicks There are all kinds of BOATS and SHIPS in the world, and the builders of these did not have to see it done by others to make such an invention. Why would anyone think that there has to be a FIRST and ONLY inventor of something?
When I got a patent on my musical instrument, I discovered MANY similar devices in the patent search. IMAGINE THAT!!! I was not so original.
SAME WITH METAL ALLOYS. Steel schmeel?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman Allegedly, the Nephites built cities, temples, synagogues, sanctuaries, "and all manner of buildings." But no trace of them has ever been found. See Helaman 3:9 in the Book of Mormon. If such places existed, we would have found some kind of evidence of it. Just as we find left overs from the Aztecs, Mayans and early American civilizations. However, nothing has ever been found to substantiate the claims of the Book of Mormon.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks We never found Sodom and Gomorrah either. We also never found the MILLIONS of skeletons from the Children of Israel who DIED in the wilderness over the 40 year period of time. NOTHING, NADA... so?
Why is this important to you?
Just pray to know the truth, because these other methods are FRAUGHT with uncertainty and the arm of flesh reasoning. Its a cursed way to trust in things. Trust in GOD.
Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. WOW!
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman Native Americans are in no way linked to ancient Israelites. The Book of Mormon is bogus. Joseph Smith was a false prophet. You better start putting your faith in the Word of God and chunk the Book of Mormon. Also, better yet, you better put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. He was God manifested in the flesh. Jesus is Lord. No one comes to the Father but by Him. You'd be better off attending a Baptist church and escaping many false Mormon doctrines.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks So, I am saying, STOP with the DNA nonsense, the archaeology nonsense, and all the other things that you think "proves' the Bible or the Book of Mormon true or not, because its not and never has been about THOSE things. It is supposed to be about prayer. About revelation. About a true relationship with God. God will guide us, God will speak to us and assure us of truth. This is done by the power of the HOLY GHOST and that is the purpose of that member of the Godhead: revelator.
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman Actually, archaeology does prove much of the history of the Bible. Israel, the Red Sea, the Sea of Galilee and many other places and things exist today that give weight to the Bible. We have skulls of first century Jews from the Middle East. We know that they existed and lived in the areas the Bible says. However, we have no archaeological proof of Lamanites or Nephites or whatever people from the Book of Mormon living in the Americas. It's totally a lie! It never happened.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks So the Bible mentions a few places that actually exist, places like the Red Sea and Jerusalem. Guess what?? So does the Book of Mormon!! It mentions those same places!
So is THIS how you find the truth? Is THIS your method?
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman But, I don't think you get it. The Bible does not stick its foot in its mouth like the Book of Mormon. For example, Nephi makes many swords [like Laban's, made of "the most precious steel" (1 Ne 4:9)]. Yet, there is no evidence of metal swords in the New World before Columbus. 5:14. Check out Nephi. It's filled with archaeological impossibilities. Such evidence has never been found in America. Not one smidgeon. They didn't even have steel back then.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks It is MUCH more logical that someone ELSE could have also known all about metal alloys and made things of brass, steel, etc. etc. Its not so hard a leap of logic. Yet you are struggling with this. Why?
Yet you do not struggle over things like the ark, the global flood, the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, talking donkey, etc. etc., parting Red Sea, dry ground on the bottom of it, etc. etc., and you STRAIN over STEEL?????
Its ILLOGICAL!!
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
@mormonanswerman Well, I'll give you an example of a flaw in the Book of Mormon. For example, Nephi named a "continually running" river that flowed from Arabia to the Red Sea after his son Laman. But there are no permanent rivers in Arabia, and there hasn't been since the Pleistocene. Such mistakes are never made in the Bible. In fact, such a mistake is NEVER made in the Bible, because the Bible is the Word of God, and the Book of Mormon is not.
blicksflicks 1 year ago
@blicksflicks No, the Bible talks about Moses striking a rock and a river gushes out of it. No, that's COMPLETELY logical, that Moses could get water to come out of a rock and quench the thirst of TWO MILLION PEOPLE!! Totally logical.
You are straining over a little fountain of water that Lehi saw while in the wilderness near the Red Sea 2600 years ago? Maybe its gone now! Who knows? Why struggle over this, and yet you don't think of MOSES' adventures?

There is definitely something about Creation mentioned in ancient Mayan cultures (as there are in most cultures), but to suggest they were looking forward to the coming of Jesus, there is nothing in this discovery that correlates with ancient prophecies about the coming of the Messiah.
Drooblemeister 2 years ago 2
@Drooblemeister The main thing, for me, the main thing is that the archaeologists previous reasonings and conclusions about the Mayans were ALL WRONG. Now all this changes things. It proves that science is only as good as the data available for making assumptions, and its very limited. In other words, people should NOT jump to the conclusion that these civilizations were NOT the Nephites and Lamanites. In fact, they should be even MORE open minded about it.
My take on why this is significant
mormonanswerman 1 year ago
Scholars today snicker at the notion of peaceful, calendar-happy Maya. The Maya were considered the Greeks of the New World, and the Aztecs were seen as Romans--one pure, original and beautiful, the other slavish, derivative and cold." But, like other pioneers later proved wrong, Morley and Thompson made reasonable inferences from limited data. The ancient Maya, we now know, were an exceedingly aggressive and warlike people: blood was the mortar" of their society.
Jeanikins 2 years ago
yeah... you know a lot.

Suggest we just absorb the findings at face value and rename the video appropriately.
lclamborn58 2 years ago 8
Are you kidding me? The family of Lehi was only a PART of the people that came over in the record. Read the record.
In 200 years the US population as grown to hundreds of millions. Even with birth control and abortion on demand and promiscuity, etc.
Don't you think that a 1000 years of the Book of Mormon is time enough to see hundreds of millions, let alone millions. Its easy. Just do the math. In 100 years you can get a million people from the family of Lehi ALONE under certain conditions.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago 2
Yes, under certain conditions, unbounded exponential population growth can occur. Historically, this has only happened, as far as anthropologists can determine, since the advent of modern medical care in the 1950s. So we have to decide, what is the probability that this one exception to the rule occurred? Plus, we need to factor in the actual population research done by scientists for Native Americans - there is no evidence of populations explosions on this continent.
lclamborn58 2 years ago
So they haven't figured it out yet.
So few pieces in a million piece puzzle!
mormonanswerman 2 years ago 2
Trust in that?
Just like the Bible, the Book of Mormon lacks many specific evidences of events, peoples, and places. Its all the same level of proofs available. That's why this Meso American find is so significant! There is little of this going on, because there is so little people looking for and finding these kinds of things.
They have to do so much digging, the archaeologists! But they dig only little spots at a time. So much missed! No evidence means so very little even still.

It was! nice try, but by placing Popol Vuh smack dab during the BOM times it truly shows the roots of the Mayan people, and it is the sole reason history is being rewritten about them, and that friar Diego of the 16th century lied to the world.

How could Joseph Smith, a 14 year old boy possibly have known about these civilisations, unless he was directed by the hand of God.

Mayan and Aztec writing / glyphs look like Chinese influenced characters.
Which history and calendar is older?
Another theoretical setting could place inhabitants of both continents traveling back and forth over hundreds of centuries integrating many cultures.

The Popol Vuh is the most important example of pre-Columbian Maya literature to have survived the Spanish Conquest. . . . The first line of the Popol Vuh declares the book to be u xe' ojër tzij, which may be translated literally as 'its root ancient word.'

more of the Popol Vuh
"Then Tepeu and Gucumatz came together; then they conferred about life and light, what they would do so that there would be light and dawn, who it would be who would provide food and sustenance.
Thus let it be done! Let the emptiness be filled! Let the water recede and make a void, let the earth appear and become solid; let it be done. "

Thus they spoke. Let there be light, let there be dawn in the sky and on the earth! There shall be neither glory nor grandeur in our creation and formation until the human being is made, man is formed"
omiolo 2 years ago
Tepeu and Gucumatz decide to create a race of beings who can worship them. They make several false starts in setting humanity upon the earth.
Man is created first of mud, but they just crumbled and dissolved away.
Man is next created of wood but has no soul, and soon forgot their makers.
Finally man is formed of masa or corn dough and their work is complete.
As such, the Maya believed that maize was not just the cornerstone of their diet, but they were also made of the same stuff.

I can't wait until they find the tombs of the King and discover names such as' Nephi, Benjamin... etc... but knowing our "opponents" they'll suggest that names like Nefiah and Beanjarm are just coincidental... lol
