  • Rocket science.

  • In your humble opinion could you have built this 40 years ago?

  • Way to go.....

  • big kids with fireworks

  • It's men and women like you that got the human race into space and it'll be people like ya'll that will put us on another planet. Awesome work, keep it up.

  • 5 years, wonder where they are at now?

  • @junekentucky in outer space :)

  • Fuck nasa. give all the money to these guys haha

  • lol John Carmack I believe.. creator of DOOM baby! He is an all 'round genius.

  • i still think human powered flight is the way forward and more research should be put into it. i get the feeling that the government does not want human powered flying machines

  • Now days if it don't work on a computer it could not possible work in real life LOL. Bad when the imagination and sprit is limited on another persons programs of 1's and 0's.

  • sweet landing @3:51!

  • Thank you for that inspiring video, god speed.

    Mississauga Ontario CANADA

  • GREAT VIDEO load more of your develop / research

  • siktirin lan aya gidemediniz yavsaklar inanmamizi beklemeyin

  • If I was a very rich person I would do exactly what John Carmack and Elon Musck did: create my own Space company. Then I would create a new nation on a distant planet were I would be the Emperor, but everybody will refer to me as Caesar. It's gonna be beautiful, with flags and everything, you will see... just need some money and some high tech stuff...

  • WRONG next stop JAIL! Can anybody say the word manslaughter? Or CEMETERY for the numbnuts they convince to climb on board. You guys are gonna kill somebody. Oh look a rocket test with a loose strip of metal siding just hanging next to it! OFF wit yo head. YOU BASTARDS YOU KILLED KENNY! Really horrifically too! WARNING: AVOID THESE ASSHOLES IF YOU VALUE LIFE AND LIMB. Just how much dope did you have that one guy on before he said "ok." and strapped himself to that BOMB.

  • @78starbuck Good thing not everyone is a pussy-ass wimp like you or we never would have made it to the moon.

  • I wanna see these guys launching a human into space! this is great =D

  • Motherfucking SCIENCE

  • @suumr FUCK, YES

  • Engineering win

  • What is the back ground music for this video?

  • fab stuff

  • You play with big toys.

  • Caramck is a fuckin genius!

  • This would be a awesome jub to me!!!

  • I love the tune in this video and John Carmack rocks!!!

  • Great video but the widget mascot could use a little more work. Carmack should use the Doom 3 engine or the new Rage engine to animate the mascot.

  • Man those things have some serious beef. What I woulnd give to just hang out and watch you guys do that kind of testing.

  • Carmack is a smart mofo.

  • this is crazy next thell try to make a model t car...... didnt we make these oh idont know like forty years ago.. and didnt we fly to and from the moon at will...

  • 1:17 haha rocket head is dead

  • So did they finaly et it into space.?

Or did they quit after the prize was won by a competitor

  • It's hard to appreciate how big these things are - a good effort would be an understatement.

  • Good luck!! I wish i was your test pilot.

  • This is beautiful, inspiring, exciting!!!! Love it, love it, love it!

  • Does anyone know what the devise(it was used to slow rocket down right before impact) at 3:51 is called? A precise, intelligent would be greatly appreciated it.

  • @crazytrinibago No Device, they simply "throttled" Up the thrust to slow it down. I'd estimate they shot out more thrust than the weight of the vehicle. If they shot out the equivalent of the weight (1:1 weight to thrust ratio), it wouldn't be enough to overcome the downward acceleration.

  • honestly what the hell are they doing?

  • that astronaut looks like hes seen the rocket @ 4:00 !!!

  • Where does their funding come from? Are they being funded by the Chinese?

  • John Carmack is funding it. I think they are soon to be sponsored by NVidia though.

  • It must be nice to work someplace that understands that the greatest successes come from trial and error, after error, after error. The "Do it right the first time" mentality may make somebody's ledger sheet look good, but it stifles creativity and true technological achievement. Kudos Armadillo. And, kudos to your financial backers.

  • Very good point....who are these guys byw...?

I am unfamiliar with them.....what is their story?

And who do they ultimatly work for? I want a job there!!! LOL!!

Are they hiring any armchair scientists with no real world experience by any chance? I can build a mean paper airplane!! LOL!

  • John Carmack is the founder of Id Software, the company that make Doom and Quake. Carmack and these blokes do this stuff part-time with Carmack's money.

  • God.....I need a rich video game designer buddy apparently.....any Idea where I might find one? LOL

  • @philwebb59 Agreed

  • @philwebb59

lol even nasa with its absolutely crazy bugdet doesnt 'do it right the first time'.

    Its impossible

  • Nothing short of Amazing. Truly remarkable.

  • Now.. that's awesome!! great job:) love this vids...

  • my uncle works there! ily phil!

  • What degree you need to be a flight engineer?

  • awesome

  • Awesome ... I've been following Armadillo Aerospace for years. These guys are making PROGRESS. My favorite private space company!

  • These guys seem really seat of the pants.

  • I wanna work there

  • Shit I had no idea these guys tried so many different design approaches. Wow - I'll just leave it at that.

  • must be nice to able to build your own rockets, you would think they would have had a more novel design or one more up to date one, kudos for mastering the vertical landing though

    go scrammy go

  • up to date?

  • wow more flying dicks cool

  • yeah, they had a couple of amazing landings, there.

  • Wow. The vertical landing was awesome!

I thought it was going to crash :D

  • lol... if the peoples had more sensibility will be easier to catch the solution in a quite quick time... and overall using less money and time :D

    really hilarious... cool video

  • Way to go, fellas! Now incorporate that awesome tail-standing tech with ion drive, a-la stealth, and you got yourself there something I would get in and ride. Might even pay for it! No, really, I applaud your precision and pluck.

  • Great job guys. Keep up the good work. Boy! I wish I could join you guys. I would so love to be a part of this, even if it means that I just get to clean up after everyone. Give me the mop and the broom damn it! lol Two thumbs up! I love America.

  • i cant believe they took phase 1! gj guys!

  • that vertical descend and slow landing is a real achievement guys, keep it up.

  • is this rocket propulsion

  • i wonder what is the goal of this co.?

    rockets last very few time

  • Ick, Congradulating Burt Rutan? Well, I'll tell ya what, his ship is gonnuh kill a bunch of rich people. Which, in itself isn't so bad...

  • Realy impresive...

  • It's terrifically cool!!!

  • Nice !

    Good work

  • great work, use air bladder and retracts to extend landing legs ,avoid tip overs on landing.

  • nice guys keep the info rolling

  • well isnt innovator!

  • hey, where's John Carmack?

  • oh i saw him... it's the geeky guy at 2:05 :)

  • haha "geeky" ;)

  • the guys have fun

  • wow why isnt there more of this where I am?

  • TOTALLY COOL.

  • wow!!! those guys seem to be having a lot of fun

  • Impressive!

  • awesome...i love it

I'm a freshman now planning to major in aerospace engineering(currently physics major)...

    Thanks alot for the inspiration
