It turns out that Back to My Mac has a free alternative as well. Just Google "back to my mac free" and click on the Lifehacker article.

So MobileMe is basically useless. I've never understood the value of it, but now I really can't justify paying for it at all. Cheers.

Update: Find My iPhone is free now. All you need is an Apple ID (the email address you use for iTunes)

Dropbox is made of WIN! So much better than iDisk. Refer your friends and get up to 10GB. I keep documents on all three of my Macs synced with it. I share bigass files with it. Plus, I add notes from Droptext on my iPhone that I can later view on my computers.

The only MobileMe feature I don't know how to replicate for free is Back to My Mac. But I'm sure there is a way. Anyone care to share?

this is great but you only get 2GB of storage but with mobileme you get 20GB.

That's 2GB to start, but an additional 250MB for every friend you refer - up to 10GB. I referred a bunch of people and it didn't take long for me to reach 10GB. That limit may get raised in the future.

Also, keep in mind that with MobileMe you will probably use half of your 20GB for your email anyway, so it's not much different than Gmail + Dropbox. What would you rather do, refer some friends or pay 99 bucks a year?

@FurtureSims Yes, just simply set iWeb to save your website to a folder in the Public folder of Dropbox. Then just point any domain, even a free one to the public link of the index.html file.

you didn't show how to set up Gmail within the Mail app. the average person's gonna know there's plenty of free webmail sites out there. to make it more like the mobile me experience it needs to have an imap service that can be added to Mail.

You've failed to replace all the coolest of MobileMe--find my iPhone, back to my Mac, remote router access (which includes access to hard drives plugged into an airport extreme, for example), and the pristine photo sharing of MobileMe gallery-- and the feature you have replaced, you've only replaced with ten percent of the storage given to you by MobileMe. Calling this a free MobileMe replacement is a stretch. In order to get the feature of MobileMe, you need your own server. Plain and simple.

However, Mr Alphabet up there is correct, the title is a little misleading. It doesn't say "Mobileme features" it says mobileme. So anyone looking to hack mobile me might be drawn to this video. That criticism aside, I will say good job on this and it helped me set up these things on my phone. P.S Love Dropbox! Discovered it thanks to you! :-)
