They are absolutely brilliant musicians they play with such precision and intensity. I just have to say though good lord some of their movements are a little frightening and how they move so drastically at the same time with so much intensity, especially the concertmaster shes intense.
That was simply amazing! What a room they must be in to get that much sound out of so few players...
On a different note (sorry, I couldn't resist) it seems as though the idea for the dresses was a teal/aqua theme and everyone but that one Viola player got the memo.
dear person, as i see comments like yours, i now understand that this music is only for smart people, people who can see that music is not only for a instant "good feeling" but also a whole structure, a structure that can be seen only when all of it is listened without any prejudice.
But i'm not blaiming you, this is how you've been seeing around you since you were born.
Well if you would read my comment without the knee-jerk aggression you would see that it wasn't made as an insult to the composer or the musicians. It is simply a fact that this music evokes too much tension to elicit anything but unpleasant feelings. Unless of course you watch horror movies all day every day.
yes, I overreacted, I admit it, and I'm sorry for that, anyways.
It does evoke TOO much tension, yes, but what I'm trying to say is this is just about how we all have been listening to; about the practice of listening. i don't believe in that natural tension we feel, in an interval such as 2m. This may be all about the practice.
Frankly, bdwright2250, i found your comment hilarious and actually pretty accurate. I think penderecki would agree with the both of us- this music was written to find tension.
This pieces rocks and the performance & recording are top grade -- congratulations to this ensemble!

Dissonant, harsh, full of tension, and soo passionate, dramatic and rhythmically vital. Wonderful, compelling music wonderfully played! Thank you...

What piece is the intro clip from? Sounds sort of like "Shaker Loops"?
