Hi to everybody. Is anybody who can tell me the title of the music, surely by Jan Hammer, in the beginning of Miami Vice's episode ( Honor among thieves) 4° season - episode 16 ?
The AMG Hammer Mercedes Benz. The car that STARTED the ground effects and spoiler bodykit CRAZE all over the world. That car is the most GANGSTER looking 4 door sedan EVER. Love old school Miami Vice, especially this chase scene. KICKASS!!!
@ForeverVachon This is from an actual episode of Miami Vice. I just watched this particular ep so I know it's genuine Vice all the way.
Miami Vice was a classic TV show that most people loved because of the music used and all the on-location shooting they did vs. shows then and now where they mainly use sets. They shot on-location so much that I frequently saw them around Miami back then.
Miami Vice was one hell of a show for it's time, and they featured LOADS of great music every episode.
@greenrefrigerator Cool, thanks for the reply. How fun that you saw the filming! One of these days I need to watch this excellent series as I didn't see much back when (mostly because I didn't understand English too well and found the plots too hard to follow.) I do remember that 21 Jump Street did the same thing about a couple years later with using (U2) songs in their shows; I mainly remember With or Without You in the famous La Bizca episode, and of course In the Air Tonight in that MV pilot.
@greenrefrigerator If I may impose with one more question: how are the DVDs? I remember reading they were trying to obtain the music rights. Did that ever happen or was that crucial-to-the-plot dramatic music replaced by non-sensical elevator music like with so many other R1 TV series on DVD, such as 21 Jump Street and Wiseguy? (I read that 21JS did release the good music in Germany only).
@ForeverVachon I have to admit I'm not familiar with any of the music rights issues for the DVD's, but I've already seen all the episodes in my DVD set and they ALL contain the same music as they did when originally aired back in the 1980's.
Had they inserted anything other than the original music it would have totally killed the mood they were trying to convey for each scene and I would have immediately sold my boxed set!
@greenrefrigerator Thanks for the clarification on that. And I agree: that's why I never bothered with Wiseguy. (They replaced the awesome music) I saw the S1 finale scene here on YT (which was supposed to have Nights in White Satin) and the music replacement turned the outstanding moment into a completely anti-climatic waste. Glad they didn't ruin MV after all! :)
Miami's a large city. Maybe the dealers & high rollers don't watch football. Sonny was supposedly huge back in the late 60's. Those dealers are so doped up that they don't remember him b/c their brains are so fried on dope.
This is good, but not great. Check out the "Race Against Time" scene from the Season 4 episode "Child's Play" -- THAT was how to use a U2 song on Vice.
I like how ducking your head below the dash fools people EVERY time.
Sorry, just had to clarify something to Pleaver. Just an fyi. University of Florida is in Gainesville which is in central (some might even say north) Florida. Don't get me wrong there were plenty of dumb things in the show. For instance, when he tells Tubbs that Elvis was the "mascot for the University of Florida football Gators", no one would ever say "University of Florida football Gators", but the writers probably lived in L.A. and didn't have a clue. I'm still a huge Vice fan though.
The dumb thing about Miami Vice is that Crockett was supposed to have been a football star at University of Flaorida in Miami. Yet, no one in his city ever seems to recognize him... for five years!!!

Season finale to season 1,''lombard''.One of the memorable ones of the season, along with ''heart of darkness'' hitlist'' ''no exit'' and ''evan''.ALOT of bad episodes in the 111,there's only about 30 that are any good. But,when it was good?I mean it always had bad acting, bad fashion, slang, but the original stories,or a charismatic guest star would make it rise above, and make it like a great short film you can watch over and over .The use of music, the visuals, the clever storylines.Get alot of ideas
I remember watching this back in the 80's, if I remember correctly it was shortened slightly, actually I remember now that it was, but I never thought I'd see it again!
Going to watch it now for the first time in 25 years give or take a year or two.
I would LOVE to see them play this song on the 360 tour. Theyre already playing "Unforgettable Fire", but this was my favorite song from the UF album.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You kidding? Unforgettable Fire was a million times better than ANYTHING U2 did in the 90's. Give me Unforgettable Fire over Zooropa, Pop, No Line, or yes...even Acthung Baby. The whole ZooTV era was complete garbage.
Argentina, y aca andamos tratando de esquivar la crisis mundial como todos.
Con respecto a Miami Vice sin duda la mejor serie para mi, en todo sentido, porque reflejara siempre la mejor decada de mi vida los 80s aun siendo un joven.
Awesome! I remember jumping up and down and throwing my pastel colored jacket in the air when I heard my fave song being played on my fave show! Thanks for sharing!!!
One of their greatest songs of all time, but its too bad they didnt know how to edit to the music back then. All of the footage is so generic you could easily dub "In the Air Tonight" over it.

@RattleAndHum1988,
Sounds like "PAL speedup" to me. (Check Google.)
PLaLeyenda is from UK. The DVD this was ripped from was probably Region 2 (PAL).
PAL plays at 4% faster than NTSC (Region 1 - North America), meaning all Region 2 DVDs are 4% shorter and higher-pitched by almost a semitone.
The original show & VHS tapes were probably in regular tune.
