This series and intro were so fucking amazing.

Sure, the original has it's charm but both of them have their charms.

(dislike) Tenma's a enemy? wtf? (he turns out to be somewhat misunderstood) Atlas looks like a Mega/Rock Man character (however at least he wasn't edited out when it hit english) big issue.... the 80's (and even somewhat in the 60's) dealt heavily with loss often through death and how humans coped, sticking with the theme of using robots/machinery to question what humanity truly is about.... i thought it odd because Astro boy set a tone for future manga/anime blending technology and soul

i'm more of a fan of the 80's series.... but (unlike the 60's version) this one i still excepted and enjoyed certain element.... you have to take it one it's own and be open minded about it though

things i like about this one: colourful (still) fairly child friendly original character (unique to series) Astro actually finds out that he's based on Tenma's deceased son, Tenma has a legit reason (fearing astro's power) for abandonment, Tenma is seen passed episode 2

@trillination you can dream, but lets face it, Megaman is outclassed. Only Zero could do something like that and even he might not return intact. At least Astro can fly and has super strength. Megaman can't fly without Rush, and he does not have super strength unless he steals it from Gutsman. Megaman always loses his weapons and upgrades at the end of every game. What can the Mega buster do againist the superior mobility of Astro's jets? Nothing what so ever. He would get SMASHED!!!!!

I like this intro. It's adrenline pumping but it makes Astro seem heartless 0:17 and robotic in contrast to the Japanese version which is all happy and optimistic. :/

i'm a fan of the 80's one- BUT, if you don't go into this one with preconcieved notions it's just fine.... i liked the fact that this was the only series in which astro finds out that he was based on a human, and that astro had the ability to harm humans in this one but chose not to (in previous versions the only thing that would allow that would be the omega factor which his creators passed on- and atlas aquirred)

Even though this intro is awsome, especially the music and trasformation parts, if you want a good story choose the earlier versions. I have recently watched the very first episode of the very first Astro Boy sieries (1960s) and everything makes a lot more sense with that story line. It just reminds me how much the story has been changed throughout the years. I can tell you now though, this sieries makes NO sense what so ever.

I like this series because Astro was Heroic and I loved the fighting scenes. and the emotion, e.g atlas dying in space, astro blowing up with the massive missle. I didn't like the old series because I just simply found it boring....

very good point, I would blame its failure to hit a core audience in america for its 1 season, tho I did like this intro before i would watch it on saturday evenings, the music just pumps you up for an episode. i ALSO liekd the 80s version of the show much more.

Almost the same for me(I was born the year before). It's been six years,yet I still want to impale the morons who took this show off the air. It sounds extreme,I know but the show is not on TV anymore,can't help but be crazy pissed. I know you can still see episodes on youtube,but it will never be the same. Can't believe I watched 10 episodes in a row the other week.Anyway,if they screw up the movie,they should get a life sentence for screwing up Astro boy,the greatest anime in human history.

here's to the nintendo Fanboys, Astro's Debut made his first appearance in the early 1980's. Nintendo's Matel gaming console was designed and distributed through 1990-1991, The same time sega came out with the genesis Mk1 console. Astro outlives Sega/nintendo and still does.

i like nintendo and sega, but i was also aware of Astro Boy's predating Mega Man. Also to GlowMouse and unionofonion Mega Man's actually Capcom, not Nintendo. That aside the technological status of Japan and the oft remarked interest in cybertech amongst the nation means that it's no surprise that it produced two well known advanced android franchises and it's also likely Mega Man took inspiration form Astro Boy (not a rip-off, but an homage).
