Personally i thk there's nthg wrong wif ISA, e problem lays wif e people who abuse e Act. Sorry, but i dun thk theres such thing as "peaceful vigil" when it invovled a huge crowd...e situation tends to get unruly wif a huge crowd hence e pre-emptive strike by e police but did they use excessive force? Really cant tell fm e vid
@INOHOS you may be surprised. vigils if deemed peaceful will be so regardless of numbers, the only point when its considered not 'peaceful' is obviously in the eyes of those being protested against (i.e The Government). I too think the Act does hold some relevance, what many want is not an abolishment but amendments, fair trial and all, which we all know isn't granted under the ISA.
@INOHOS Police violence isn't a new thing in this country, the fact that they came with force and was unwilling to talk. These vigils have been held for years.... only since 2009, following the rally has this happened.
We have to change those in power, we protest because the formal forms of diplomacy have failed. Under a rule which is racially class determinist (and thats a fact).
People have to wake up... but how, when the only discourse is the one spoon fed to them?
@INOHOS Jika kita benar2 mahukan demokrasi yang tulen@asli...jadilah rakyat Amerika. Demokrasi kita "Demokrasi Malaysia".
@BUAYAIPOH I don't think you understand the context of this argument. I urge you to cease giving Malaysians and the Malays a bad name with racist slander.
think rationally before speaking and more importantly, know what you are talking about.
Najib Razak pengkhianat agama Islam.
No offence: I love Malaysia, I'm a Malaysian at heart....but knowing for the fact that the G'vmt and police are messed up and not rational at all, it pisses all of us off... We need Dr. M back!!! He has given us a vision to achieve, but seems like the new G'vmt has messed it up... Dr. M ftw!
This visual tell me that the Police acted on the civilian that did not comply with their orders to disperse but they failed to do so and acted on their own to march into the Mall where all many public were in there. So the police took action and arrest those who started the rally.
Honestly... I dont see why 1Malaysia was the title of this, and why are you guys making such a big fuss about it. No lesen perhimpunan, No rally... MBPJ lesen is not valid for this rally.
@deancklau well the police refused to negotiate, the vigil has been held there since 2007 without the police getting involved. They didn't march into the mall, the police bottled them in. The decision that followed was to march to the field.
It has to be said, considering the more pressing and clearly national concerning rallies held leading up to this (Perkasa and Section 23), why the need for police force?
It only reveals to us, the already present state of double standard politics.
@trishul100 ha yeah i thought it was a foreigner too. i've given up for the most part. too much selfishness to wake up and realise there is so many other problems malaysia has to address and conquer together.. truely as one malaysia (rather than a farce).
Is this how 1Malaysia works? I thought the policeman should have listen to the NGO and started to have a discussion but those police are the one who start to demonstrate the roughest of their side! Shame of the Malaysia goverment shame to be a part of Malaysian!
MALAYSIA..people around saying malaysia is goin backwards instead of forward.. vision 2020?? could be a miracle, hope so...2020 is getting nearer but we r moving backwards.. but still i wish TRUE 1malaysia will materialized altho i feel tat it is almost impossible:P
what freedom? none malay can't be Prime minister, can't be chief minister of a state other then Penang and malacca, how 1 malaysia if 1 race dominate all the resource of malaysia? don't let us say NO to ISA too, shame on all those law enforcement personal who use force to treat us who speak out for your rights too, you are not doing your job you are given up your rights to say NO to a government policy.
What is the SOP on doing a public rally? since they've got the city counsel's approval which the city counsel works directly under the executive department.. i dont see y there is a problem~ mayb its just me~ mind some1 explaining the exact SOP of running a rally?
ISA is a great tool for those who doesn't like the political oppositions . This law is being abused over and over again and frankly it benefits the dirty politicians more so than it does protecting the people of Malaysia . In this country , where holding a peaceful rally ( or better yet a candle light vigil ) is considered a national treat ? are you for real ? i mean seriously ? did you not see there was a innocent and harmless child there holding a candle ?maybe she too needs to be detained
Silly video... one you guys forgot to do when you get the surat perhimpunan, you forgot to get it from the police licensing too. MBPJ surat perhimpinan does not work for you guys.
@deancklau PDRM definitely wont give such a thing, ironically they would to fundamentalist and cow paraders, but meh... its expected. Apparently they've been holding the vigil there for a few years now, only last year and this year have the cops been taking action.
Riot police called for an unarmed, candle light vigil.
Now, I understand why Americans closely guard their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. It's for situations like these when the people cannot trust the Federal government anymore!
MALAYSIA BOLEH!!! tat's all i can say.... Erm... DAP or Keadilan office can go n register to be a voter or not for next election??? cuz now i'm in Taiwan.. can i pass my I/C to my parents help me to register ?? Pls reply... thanks....
US, got mass murder in the educational institution. Even though they do not have the ISA thingy, do you think their NSA, CIA & FBI all baby enforcement team? They're the one with all top technologies in almost every fields as well as policies, law and etc covering a wide area of aspects too. Then what would u think that makes a person back off from mass murder?
nothing, coz a person who's mentally sick does not have the rationale for anything including the circumstances...
ISA isn't that bad, and can even be better if those who are detained under the act stand a chance for a public trial. A super power magic wand can be deadly and at the same time can be very wonderful, it only depends on who is that person that holding it, right? similar thought applies to the act, you see..
About the bombings or mass murder, do u think a person who planned to do that would scare of any laws or ISA?? they will not, right?
One malaysia......hahahahahahahaha......We used to have it for such a long time....until some idoit ruined it...painted all the hatred sentiment into us.......One malayisa....One country...one leader.......one party........whatever it is....it will failed at the end 111%....................forget about it......Malaysia is by far gone!!
Ever wondered why there are no bombings in Malaysia compared to our neighbouring countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Phillipines by the terrorist groups like JI and the likes? Was in UiTM and there were people in the dorm caught planning for mass murder. A network extended to every state
I don't know about you guys but i'm glad for ISA... Freedom isn't so much of a right, it's a responsibility that sadly many of us aren't ready for.
a much better rally would be EDUCATE THE PEOPLE IN POWER
@baszm just a question. how can you educate the 'certain' people of rank when they're all a bunch of thin-skinned, cock-headed bullies? we'll have to wait for them to die before anyone more qualified from a different generation can replace them.
@theMilkz of course you can't... the possibility is as good as naively thinking that ISA will be abolished through candle rally. Just personally i'd rather highlight the stupidity of the people in power rather than abolish ISA. Because i've seen when ISA was truly needed and it saved my life and countless other regarding the UiTM incident... the problem is not the ISA law, but the people that enforces it.
would it be possible to get this video subtitled?? i believe more attention can be brought to this issue if it were more easily understood by the international community. really good video, shows the TRUE enemy of the people
i love dreams, some may b quite impossible but achievable . but i will not have any fantasy on things that can't be changed. there ain't no second south Africa, so as another Nelson Mandela, chances is next to zero. i like a saying of my own, "human don't fly, we just simply don't, accept the fact". if we were to, it might be another billion years of species revolution. life is short, enjoy the trip, let the nature roll it out naturally, ain't that good?
Well, don't mind to reply u here. in fact, there're quite alot of videos on youtube, blogs, articles that you can pick up the information that u're digging for though.of course, some of those are untrue, some are, it depends on how you interpret it too. y i chose to leave is because, i lived somewhere else b4, & been expose to different kind of living environments b4, i somehow pick up "how to choose" thingy along the way..
W3IYAN - yeah, sort of got a few options... now working my ass off towards it.... :)... anyway, different place suits different needs though.... so long it's peace n safe, that's the ultimate requirement for most right? unless ones love the adventures.... hahaha....
@davesuisan interesting, just curious, how old are you? why do you choose to leave? you don't have to reply me here, you can email me at w3iyan@gmail.com
Just want to know more lived Malaysian experiences.
continue.... - As a peace lover, i just feel sad whenever i see those protester who protest in peace, unarmed had been treated by force and harshly by the authority. Don't the cops and the authority, our "servant"? Don't they suppose to protect us from harm? Why would they do it in such harsh manner? We're a group of tax payers who paid for such "services"? Call me a "quiter" like those hundred of thousands of those deny to come home, coz there're tonnes of reasons for me to leave..
@davesuisan thats a keen observation mate, fortunately we haven't gone nuclear yet! :D
Are you currently staying in Malaysia or have you found a "greener grass land"? Its something interesting to know :)
Well, like I mentioned in a previous comment, its not so much the police, they are doing their job, they could be against such outdated and pointless pieces of legislation as well, but the police answer to higher powers; like the Home Minister.
Just to voice up my opinion. From the limited knowledge of D' ISA, i think it isn't something most of us fear of. The thing we fear the most, like myself, is the law enforcement ppl. Nuclear, plutonium or uranium isn't that scary don't they? But, if the plutonium or such have fell into the wrong hand, wow, that's gonna b very very scary. Agree?
We all making choices, me, i made my choice, i don't change thing i can't change. So, i have to find a "greener glass land".
Everyone who is married or a responsible person know for a fact that managing a family is not an easy task..Each one in the family have unique characters and own perception.
So, would you be able to manage a country easily? If we ourselves can't control our family successfully, how would you be able to run a country without flaws?
In Indonesia, there were coincidence where they could not arrest terrrosists because they don't have the similar law until the bombing occured.
We humans have many faces, sometimes you see a person fighting for something but in the end he is just a selfish person. Don't have to look far...
Look at the closest people that you have known;children, friends, colleagues who have two-face or triple-face(talam dua muka) and these things happens in our personal level
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The fact remains ISA is needed; we are a multi-racial country.
How would you be able to control if you don't have provision of law where you can arrest anyone suspected of doing anything which are detrimental to country?
Would you be able to get anything from this sort of protest? How would the investors evaluate us if you do this kind of thing?
I know lots of us are disgruntled rakyats here but have we ever compared ourselves with many other coutries who are much more deprived?
@AJParkerTubes That's easy for u to say if u were nvr been suspected of any malicious act.. who are we to judge if we don't the least substantial evidence? Then why are laws being passed and enacted for? What are lawyers, the firms, the jurisdiction, the legislation, everything that we know about a civilised age is just wrong from your point of view.
Don't talk as though U know what these people have been through. Who in their right mind would wanna protest have their complaints been heard?
@AVoiceFromFar My Bro, pls take my disagreement with you in a cheerful friendly way..I am always of opinion that it is fine to disagree with a person.
I have to correct you..It is naive to think that I was not even suspected of any malicious act. The fact remains I am a human and I will never run from mistakes.
As I have just replied to another fellow here, by the time you follow the normal legal procedures, the "bombs" will be detonated.
@AJParkerTubes What you suggested sounds very dodgy.. sweeping everything under the table and pretend to move on as though ntg had happened. If that's how u do it, I hope u can sleep soundly at nite. Transparency remains the much coveted element our government need to develop.
try to get a statistic of where Malaysia stood 10 years ago as of now, even amongst our Asean countries.. have we not slipped behind enuf?
@AVoiceFromFar Capitalism is about America and the world. If America die, Malaysia die - that is our economic model so do many other countries except for Cuba and Venezuela, I think.
Statistic is nothing but a collective of data compiled by a degree holder to without 100% accuracy because the boss who instructed them give a deadline. I want this statistic to be prepared in a week time.
Whether in Malaysia,Singapore,HK,America or in any other countries the issue of transparency will never end.
@AJParkerTubes granted, I know very well how the ISA works, I have a copy of the act (as thick as it is) with me. I'm no lawyer, not law student, but I know very well that
1) yes, the ISA could work if implemented properly by the RIGHT people, likewise with any other act/bill
2) even it's brother the Patriot Act in the US grants a trial after 60 days or so, the ISA doesn't
@W3IYAN Yes, ISA could only work if implemented properly by the RIGHT people and I believe these people should go for communication class for 2 years non-stop so that they can handle more diplomatically at least 80% of the time(to be realistic) and 20% failed handlings of such cases
@AJParkerTubes maybe not so much the need for re-educating in that sense. Theres alot to Malaysian politics, just that with fundamentalist, secular clashes, the histories between race (I mean certain modes of behaviour forged predating Merdeka during divide and rule) and other things make things more complicated. In a nutshell, Malaysia is still young, and I am fascinated at what has been and whats to be. people are not stupid, nobody is, its like yogurt, its how you're cultured :)
@AJParkerTubes Comparing Malaysia to the more pressing issues overseas is relative, as you say, we can't even control our families; so why even bother looking at the rest of the world when problems lie within the walls of a household?
Everyone has problems of varying degrees, I get your realistic view of conflict as well, I agree, however lived experience is micro in perspective and varies from social group to social group, and like other countries, ours is fragmented.
@AJParkerTubes and for the record, its the police who turned everything into a fuss, you may not agree with the idea of speaking out, but its because we have remained silenced, or rather kept silent for so long, without expression, without knowledge we are but drones. public opinion is what makes a healthy state, its part of being a democracy.
@W3IYAN Please don't get me wrong. I do agree that we need to speak out because we have remained "silenced" for a long time.
I do agree that the act of police towards the people in the clip is a little harsh and I do not like the way the police acted towards the people too...yet I still feel that police act as in the video was not harsh if you compare to other previous cases.
What I am voicing out is the that ISA is needed in this country and needs some modifications to suit the current time.
@AJParkerTubes I get what you mean, I too know the power such acts can have, i mean to stop a crime before it materializes is indeed an outstanding feat, like you said, it has to be amended to suit the times. Thats not happened yet I'm afraid, also in light of our current' government's reign, i believe the issue also lies in trust and confidence.
no worries mate, its good that we can discuss these things :)
@AJParkerTubes Because we are a multiracial country that's why we needed ISA? When I was a kid, I used to think that our country is unique because it's a multi-racial country. Now I realised that a lot countries are multi-racial just like we do. They just do not address themselves differently according to their races.
Why do we need ISA when the existing law is sufficient? Just so that we can arrest and detain suspect without trial? Do you think it is fair to anyone?
@tmsh99 Yes, definitely I agree with you and I have no qualms about that...The existing laws are sufficient BUT by the time you go through the normal procedure by using the existing laws to arrest a person be it a politician or a terrorists, the bombs would be detonated.
Then all of us will blame the government because the FDI is not coming in because of the bombing. The rakyats will go haywire and will blame government that they should have taken action and so on....
@AJParkerTubes I believe that without the use of ISA there are ways to keep the society in peace. If not, how did we managed to keep our country peacefully for so many years before the ISA? Everyone deserved fair treatment and judgement. Democracy and equality, thats what we are trying to achieve. It should not be different just because who that person is or what they have done. I think people worried that it will become a policitical tool. and it might give too much power to the authority.
@tmsh99 There are many things which we, as normal rakyats are not able too see how our country is being managed to ensure the peace can felt and seen by us and last
If you are able to see with our very own eyes everyday on how the country is being managed, you will either be shocked and awed or agree with me that ISA is needed.
Unfortunately, I don't have any proof but one thing for sure; although there are many mistakes done by our police or law enforcment people, there always "good apples"
@azharto Please dont misundertand that I think enforcement or authority are not needed. I agree with you that every country needs enforcement to keep it in peace. Thats why we have legislative, executive, and judicial branch. However, they've to be in balance. Excess power in either one branch will put our country in jeopary. Unfortunately, this act triggered people's insecurity about this country, Just imagine anyone could be lock up anytime and refuse a trial just because a politician say so.
@tmsh99 Democracy and equality is just a dream. Powerful countries and Weak countries, Sects in Christian;Protestant, Methodist, Catholic and sub-sects even in Islam; Sunni and Shiite, Poor and Rich etc.
There always be indemocracy and inequalities happen around our life. So, if you think deeper, that is why we need ISA.
Without ISA, maby Al-Arqam and Communist can be a dangerous element for our country.
@azharto its very true what you say, its just that the act is clearly in the hands of the wrong people. We're not the only country with such and act, then again similar acts like the Patriot Act grant a trial, the ISA doesn't.
Also the ISA has lost it's relevancy following the demise of communism many many years ago. Perhaps if amended to suit current global threats (which it has to some extent), but what people fear is that its being used for all the wrong reasons and on the wrong people.
@azharto Every single step in this world begins with a dream. Without a target, how would you know what you want to achieve? The difference is how hard we willing to try to achieve it. I agree that inequality and indemocracy still happen around us. The world will always be like this. Thats why we need to work on it, to make this country a better place to live. To be able to enjoy our freedom, but not without limit.
@tmsh99 I wish I could agree, but sadly no, we know very well, people under tyranny are oppressed and therefore bound to rebel, likewise people with too much discretion can cause chaos. Malaysia is still young, I don't believe in laws as potent as the ISA cause it contradicts the whole notion of free speech and all, but total freedom is also something dangerous and remains very much idealistic. equality can be achieved through the right policies (which we don't have). Democracy through maturity.
i do know of i.s.a! and have been supporting to mansuh it!
as stated in youtube, "kita di beri kebenaran utk berkumpul di dataran pj"!
so, please berkumpul at the stated place given. there, you can do whatever you like, to shout, to support or anything. when doing at the mall, ppl doing business will be effected! children will get frighten! some ppl will get panic! and whatsoever! have you ever thought of them? try not to think of own selfishness!
If the people did not voice out and goes for democracy?? how can the government improve??? Malaysia is a democracy country?? haiz, Malaysia memang teruk.. corruption, abuse of power, low human right... wtf is this.. how to achieve vision 2020???!!!
You do not know the seriousness of ISA. You have not lost your freedom and of course you take it for granted. One day you may not have the freedom to shop and relax.
Saya masih ingat, masa anti-vigil ISA yg diadakan di PJ, pihak FRU terus mengambil tindakan sebelum lilin di nyalakan. Apatah lagi, mereka yg berarak secara aman.
Kes kepala lembu, pihak FRU langsung tidak mengambil apa2 tindakan, hanya membiarkan mereka berarak tanpa gangguan. Adakah ini 1Malaysia !!! Geram hang tengok tindakan yg tidak adil.
People, this is double standard.
Hahahahaha tahun depan kami tak pakai waja , kami nak pakai Alfa romeo .... hahahahahahaha undi lagi !
@KiyoshiJoz Sorry, I couldn't quite get what you were saying, I got that quote from the 1Malaysia website and it was quoted by him in his video. Also, even if I hadn't the intent of exposing police brutality, it doesn't change the fact that what happened happened.
The police are doing their job, no doubt thats true, the problem lies elsewhere, with those who hold the leash.
hello.. no i dont mnean to dislike your video =p i meant... dislike as in dislike to the PDRM in general.. im not sure how it will cause the ratings to be... but im not "disliking the video" just disliking as a show of force that we dislike the way the PDRM is acting (= i hope that clarifies.. cheers
The evil ISA is useful for the ruling party to have its ways without been questioned as it can then arrest whoever it wants particularly rakyat who exposes its wrongdoings. They are detained without trial and without access to legal redress now chance to speak out against any policy or action by the ruling govt. I am not a politican. I just want to be sure what kind of regime i am a citizen of. Is it facist? Is it dictatorial? Is it a political state? Thank you.

INOHOS 1 year ago
@INOHOS you may be surprised. vigils if deemed peaceful will be so regardless of numbers, the only point when its considered not 'peaceful' is obviously in the eyes of those being protested against (i.e The Government). I too think the Act does hold some relevance, what many want is not an abolishment but amendments, fair trial and all, which we all know isn't granted under the ISA.
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@INOHOS Police violence isn't a new thing in this country, the fact that they came with force and was unwilling to talk. These vigils have been held for years.... only since 2009, following the rally has this happened.
We have to change those in power, we protest because the formal forms of diplomacy have failed. Under a rule which is racially class determinist (and thats a fact).
People have to wake up... but how, when the only discourse is the one spoon fed to them?
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@INOHOS Jika kita benar2 mahukan demokrasi yang tulen@asli...jadilah rakyat Amerika. Demokrasi kita "Demokrasi Malaysia".

MBPJ lesen is not valid for this rally.
deancklau 1 year ago
@deancklau well the police refused to negotiate, the vigil has been held there since 2007 without the police getting involved. They didn't march into the mall, the police bottled them in. The decision that followed was to march to the field.
It has to be said, considering the more pressing and clearly national concerning rallies held leading up to this (Perkasa and Section 23), why the need for police force?
It only reveals to us, the already present state of double standard politics.

US, got mass murder in the educational institution. Even though they do not have the ISA thingy, do you think their NSA, CIA & FBI all baby enforcement team? They're the one with all top technologies in almost every fields as well as policies, law and etc covering a wide area of aspects too. Then what would u think that makes a person back off from mass murder?
nothing, coz a person who's mentally sick does not have the rationale for anything including the circumstances...
davesuisan 1 year ago
ISA isn't that bad, and can even be better if those who are detained under the act stand a chance for a public trial. A super power magic wand can be deadly and at the same time can be very wonderful, it only depends on who is that person that holding it, right? similar thought applies to the act, you see..
About the bombings or mass murder, do u think a person who planned to do that would scare of any laws or ISA?? they will not, right?

We humans have many faces, sometimes you see a person fighting for something but in the end he is just a selfish person. Don't have to look far...
Look at the closest people that you have known;children, friends, colleagues who have two-face or triple-face(talam dua muka) and these things happens in our personal level

AJParkerTubes 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes That's easy for u to say if u were nvr been suspected of any malicious act.. who are we to judge if we don't the least substantial evidence? Then why are laws being passed and enacted for? What are lawyers, the firms, the jurisdiction, the legislation, everything that we know about a civilised age is just wrong from your point of view.

W3IYAN 1 year ago
@W3IYAN Yes, ISA could only work if implemented properly by the RIGHT people and I believe these people should go for communication class for 2 years non-stop so that they can handle more diplomatically at least 80% of the time(to be realistic) and 20% failed handlings of such cases
AJParkerTubes 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes maybe not so much the need for re-educating in that sense. Theres alot to Malaysian politics, just that with fundamentalist, secular clashes, the histories between race (I mean certain modes of behaviour forged predating Merdeka during divide and rule) and other things make things more complicated. In a nutshell, Malaysia is still young, and I am fascinated at what has been and whats to be. people are not stupid, nobody is, its like yogurt, its how you're cultured :)
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes Comparing Malaysia to the more pressing issues overseas is relative, as you say, we can't even control our families; so why even bother looking at the rest of the world when problems lie within the walls of a household?
Everyone has problems of varying degrees, I get your realistic view of conflict as well, I agree, however lived experience is micro in perspective and varies from social group to social group, and like other countries, ours is fragmented.
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes and for the record, its the police who turned everything into a fuss, you may not agree with the idea of speaking out, but its because we have remained silenced, or rather kept silent for so long, without expression, without knowledge we are but drones. public opinion is what makes a healthy state, its part of being a democracy.
W3IYAN 1 year ago 2
@W3IYAN Please don't get me wrong. I do agree that we need to speak out because we have remained "silenced" for a long time.
I do agree that the act of police towards the people in the clip is a little harsh and I do not like the way the police acted towards the people too...yet I still feel that police act as in the video was not harsh if you compare to other previous cases.
What I am voicing out is the that ISA is needed in this country and needs some modifications to suit the current time.
AJParkerTubes 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes I get what you mean, I too know the power such acts can have, i mean to stop a crime before it materializes is indeed an outstanding feat, like you said, it has to be amended to suit the times. Thats not happened yet I'm afraid, also in light of our current' government's reign, i believe the issue also lies in trust and confidence.
no worries mate, its good that we can discuss these things :)
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes Because we are a multiracial country that's why we needed ISA? When I was a kid, I used to think that our country is unique because it's a multi-racial country. Now I realised that a lot countries are multi-racial just like we do. They just do not address themselves differently according to their races.
Why do we need ISA when the existing law is sufficient? Just so that we can arrest and detain suspect without trial? Do you think it is fair to anyone?
tmsh99 1 year ago
@tmsh99 Yes, definitely I agree with you and I have no qualms about that...The existing laws are sufficient BUT by the time you go through the normal procedure by using the existing laws to arrest a person be it a politician or a terrorists, the bombs would be detonated.
Then all of us will blame the government because the FDI is not coming in because of the bombing. The rakyats will go haywire and will blame government that they should have taken action and so on....
AJParkerTubes 1 year ago
@AJParkerTubes I believe that without the use of ISA there are ways to keep the society in peace. If not, how did we managed to keep our country peacefully for so many years before the ISA? Everyone deserved fair treatment and judgement. Democracy and equality, thats what we are trying to achieve. It should not be different just because who that person is or what they have done. I think people worried that it will become a policitical tool. and it might give too much power to the authority.
tmsh99 1 year ago
@tmsh99 There are many things which we, as normal rakyats are not able too see how our country is being managed to ensure the peace can felt and seen by us and last
If you are able to see with our very own eyes everyday on how the country is being managed, you will either be shocked and awed or agree with me that ISA is needed.
Unfortunately, I don't have any proof but one thing for sure; although there are many mistakes done by our police or law enforcment people, there always "good apples"
azharto 1 year ago
@azharto Please dont misundertand that I think enforcement or authority are not needed. I agree with you that every country needs enforcement to keep it in peace. Thats why we have legislative, executive, and judicial branch. However, they've to be in balance. Excess power in either one branch will put our country in jeopary. Unfortunately, this act triggered people's insecurity about this country, Just imagine anyone could be lock up anytime and refuse a trial just because a politician say so.
tmsh99 1 year ago
@tmsh99 Democracy and equality is just a dream. Powerful countries and Weak countries, Sects in Christian;Protestant, Methodist, Catholic and sub-sects even in Islam; Sunni and Shiite, Poor and Rich etc.
There always be indemocracy and inequalities happen around our life. So, if you think deeper, that is why we need ISA.
Without ISA, maby Al-Arqam and Communist can be a dangerous element for our country.
azharto 1 year ago
@azharto its very true what you say, its just that the act is clearly in the hands of the wrong people. We're not the only country with such and act, then again similar acts like the Patriot Act grant a trial, the ISA doesn't.
Also the ISA has lost it's relevancy following the demise of communism many many years ago. Perhaps if amended to suit current global threats (which it has to some extent), but what people fear is that its being used for all the wrong reasons and on the wrong people.
W3IYAN 1 year ago
@azharto Every single step in this world begins with a dream. Without a target, how would you know what you want to achieve? The difference is how hard we willing to try to achieve it. I agree that inequality and indemocracy still happen around us. The world will always be like this. Thats why we need to work on it, to make this country a better place to live. To be able to enjoy our freedom, but not without limit.
tmsh99 1 year ago
@tmsh99 I wish I could agree, but sadly no, we know very well, people under tyranny are oppressed and therefore bound to rebel, likewise people with too much discretion can cause chaos. Malaysia is still young, I don't believe in laws as potent as the ISA cause it contradicts the whole notion of free speech and all, but total freedom is also something dangerous and remains very much idealistic. equality can be achieved through the right policies (which we don't have). Democracy through maturity.
