  • I think the 2004 Punisher was better. But this movie isn't bad. Its really better than Max Payne. Also I agree with that Marvel should be doing other characters such as Luke Cage, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and of course Iron Fist.

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Fuck yes!

  • I say that they get Michael Clark Duncan or Ving Rhames into the project and make either one of them Barracuda. that would be one of the most kickass battles ever!

  • HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

best punisher film i think they'll ever make

  • I really wanna see this movie a week from now.

  • The thing about Doug Hutchinson's Looney Bin Jim is that he was incredibly fun to watch, I would consider punisher 2004 to be forgettable, and the same with Lundergun's Punisher movie, but I hardly see how War Zone could be considered forgettable.

  • Other than them killing off certain characters they shouldn't have, this movie was AMAZING and Im happy to finally see a REAL PUNISHER movie,FINALLY! It is however a shame tho that it was quickly forgotten but I didn't forget it!

  • Chandeliers scene was great

and i thought Dominic played a gud role.. u guys are used to his role(accent) on the wire that y u all hate him on the mov

same goes to that Seinfeld tv show guy

    don't typecast them !!!

  • i liked it, but i didn't love it. the actor they chose was great, though.

  • I loved the film, and this was the punisher film Ive been waiting for.

The chandilier scene should have stayed in the trailer, and edited out. It was strictly trailer fodder.

Yes, the Thomas jane movie was horrid.

The scene in the dining room where he blows off the guys head when the black cop is calling for back up was hilarious.

I seen this movie twice and Im getting it on DVD, Im a huge comic fan, so Im kinda bias

    Great review

  • I subbed a WHILE ago, and I dont know why I havent seen these newer videos. I love your reviews.

  • Green Street is shit

  • Great review.

  • Fury, the movie had the best action for straight up no post barred gun fights. I could see everything and actually think the lights were very well done. It isn't THE best but if you're looking for a nonstop thrillride see this movie.

  • i thought the answer to your trivia question was vash the stampede from trigun since he killed someone once and it fucked him up mentally.

then i saw it was batman.....D'OH!

  • I hated it

  • As a Punisher fan (especially of the MAX series by Garth Ennis), I think I make no exaggeration when I say that this was the best Punisher film yet. Lionsgate did a damn good job here. They took the character seriously, but didn't take the material seriously as a whole...which worked perfectly. Good review.

  • i hope marvel studios does the next one instead of lions gate lions gate does not take this character seriously

  • The movie bomb. had alot of bad reviews, but i heard that ray stevenson portrayed better than the past two guys. yet due cheap budgets, poor cast specially jigsaw.. BOMB

  • i like thomas jane acting as the punissher..y they change their actor for this movie.

  • i hope for a sequel. maybe they can start

the slavers story arc or go with barracuda.

  • awesome dude, this is the first time i ever saw any of your reviews and you just hit in the nail in the movie thougts, shit im subscribing!

  • he's the best reviewer ever

  • Why the hell do you guys keep saying they should stop making Punisher films? There are a lot of Punisher fans that want to see it done right, and we want to see more movies until they finally do get it right. I know you don't like it, and that's okay, but stop saying it should be taken away from the people that want it. I mean, really, can't you say anything more constructive? How 'bout some suggestions?

  • The movie was incredible. This was a lot better than the first one. The first one was well done and Thomas Jane did very good acting, but Ray Stevenson made the Punisher on War Zone. He showed the true brutality of a vigilante driven by the loss of his family. In my opinion, 5/5 stars, two thumbs up, best Marvel I've seen.

  • I second that bro.

  • NEWMAN!!!!!

  • I loved this movie. I have been waiting badly for it to come out. I never expected it to be great as in a great film, but I knew I would love it. The critics responded just like I expected.

I also read ALL the MAX Punisher comics recently, and Im so glad how much War Zone reminded me of it. Unlike Lundgren's(however I love for an 80s action movie) and Jane's(yes..planting earings and parking tickets...very Punisher like)

  • I think the only part in this movie that touched upon his inner feelings about him being the Punisher is when

    SPOILERS

he kills that cop who was wearing a wire, and realizes that he screwed up, but even that wasn't developed enough. He went right back to killing all those stereotyped criminals (the Yakuza-type Asians, the African American gang bangers) about 30 minutes after.

  • the punisher is not a forgettable film. dominic west does a great job with overacting the crap out of jigsaw, to the point were it makes him really fun to watch. and the movies action is top notch. mediocre? no one of the most fun movies this year? yes.

  • I tottaly respect your opinion of the film but I do disagree with your opinion. I do hope they continue to do more with the punisher. The Dolph Lundren version isn't as as bad as people make it out to be.His version made him one my more favorite actors. I've been a Punisher fan since i first got into comics in the early 90's. Everything they do to bring more fans to the punisher is kool to me. Long live The punisher and Batman.

  • if they are going to do more with this guy it needs to be in better hands. Someone who can understand the source material and can explore who Frank Castle is the way Nolan explored Batman. I don't hate this hero at all, I'm always for a darker hero but they gotta stop treating this guy so one dimensional.

  • dude I wish I could give you a thumbs up for that comment

  • The Punisher is ANOTHER example of a better film than the dark shitty knight. Im gonna get a reply from some ignorant dumbass who thinks the dark knight is the best ever. LOL!

  • oh boy, here comes the Sh@$# storm.!

  • I hope your not serious. The Punisher was honestly one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life. Its the only movie i have walked out of because it was so terrible. There was basically no plot and ALL of the actors were bad, the action was also ridiculous and was unnecessarily gory. In what way is it better than The Dark Knight? How old are you?

  • TDK is the best film ever. Sorry dude i couldn't resist replying.lol

  • I thought julie benz should have not been there,

but I agree it was better than max payne

  • Wow, this doesn't happen often; I disagree with just about everything you said about this movie. I thought Dominic West was the only decent part about it.

  • Hey swag, So you liked Dominic West's Jigsaw? I thought he was just too out there I would have preferred a more toned down angrier villain than one who kept frolicking with his loony brother.I still think Dominic West is a great talent , ever check out the Wire? Great show. I guess compared to the other personalities in the film Jigsaw was the only thing that stood out but for me personally I think that Jigsaw might have worked better with the first movie than this movie.

  • Yup, I watched the entire series of The Wire and loved it. I didn't like West before his face got messed up, it almost seemed like he was trying too hard, but after he became Jigsaw I liked him more. I'd tell you to go check out my review of the movie but I think we simply have opposing view on this one.

  • which is fine, we don't have to agree with everything as long as we can have some good discussions. I'm going to check it out now.

  • This guy looks like the punisher he acts like the punisher as far as im concerned he is the punisher. Thomas Jane played a watered down version of the punisher not that he didnt do a good job but Thomas Jane to me was like a boyscout version of the punisher. This new movie was just as brutal as the comics Im glad I wasnt quick to judge. Its a must see for every punisher fan.

  • the same dude who said quantum of solace was a solid film..you just can't trust his reviews

  • To each his own

  • Ill just take your word on this one in the info box... just got back from a week and a half trip and dont feel like watching a 7 minute video.

  • btw love your review!

  • Thanks man and thanks for the recommendations.

  • oh and for the MARVEL logo not showing the comic panels. the reason for MARVEL KNIGHTS logo its because the MARVEL KNIGHTS is for mature audiences while MAX is more adult oriented. M

    MARVEL KNIGHTS - R rating

    MAX - NC-17

do you get it know fury?

  • got it but why can't he still get a nice page turnin' intro?

  • dont know man dont know....ANTI-HEROES on the big screen never get the love just only in comics. but i do hope for a sequal. if you have the time go check out GARTH ENNIS take on punisher. just go to amazon and type PUNISHER MAX trust me if you like the crazy violence then these graphic novels are for you. if you do get it then you might recognize some characters from the film. INK,PITSY,MAGINTY and the father and son RUSSIAN. i recommend "IN THE BEGINNING" "THE SLAVERS" and "BARRACUDA" :D

  • Also Fury! Read my comment on your Postal review video. I want to hear you have to say!! LOL

  • I tried posting a response but It didn't take, the answer is yes I would fight him, I might not win because maniacs don't feel pain but he'll definitely remember me. I would totally fight Uwe Boll for 1000 dollars.

  • that movie was hilerious. You Krispy Kreme Motherfuckers!!!!! I laughed so hard at that part

  • I thought this was a great movie. But I still can't tell which I like better. This or the 2004 movie. Both had their ups and downs. Thomas Jane plays a sad revenge seeking Puinsher, while Ray Stevenson plays a colder Puisher. Both were great. I can't bealive you didn't like Dominic West ad Jigsaw. He was great. Not Joker great, but still. I hope they do something were the RS Punisher meets the Sam Jackson Nick Fury!! LOL! It might not, but that would be great!!

  • I just saw War Zone today and I thought it was pretty cool. I enjoyed it more than the first one and it showed a more meaner Punisher, the way he should be. I only wish they would just start combining all - if not most - of the marvel heroes in one movie. Daredevil, Punisher, Dr. Strange, Captain America, Blade, and so forth. Maybe not all in one movie but somehow make it like the comics.

  • That's what I say. They should make more crossovers like Have Wolverine (Hugh Jackmen) pick up Bruce Banner (Ed Norton) in his truck or have Peter Paker (Toby Maguire) taking pictures at Stark Tower. They should show more signs that all the Marvel movies are in line with each other.

  • theres never love for ANTI-HEROES on the big screen just in comics, they all get hit hard by critics saying they just kill and kill and kill.

  • This movie is good, I just got back from seeing it, but its not for people who are too critical about movies. If you can take on stuff like over the top violence/gore and crude dark humor its perfect for you.

  • Did the punisher really fought batman.Seing Marvel cross with DC sounds like an impossible dream.

  • Daredevil would have a problem with that as well... and so would many other popular vigilantes... Great question but I think it should have been a little more specific. Awesome review as always Fury. Thank you.

  • this movie was gay

  • Though I really enjoyed the last film , I am looking forward to this .

  • I might want to see this one. I saw the one with Tom Jane and I thought it was terrible and I tend to like movies that common movie reviewers label bad or mediocre. I felt like that Punisher didn't get the emotion right having lost HIS WHOLE FAMILY. This one looks a lot better, but in my mind Steven Segal would have been the perfect actor to be the Punisher.

  • 90's are over for segal lol.

  • Just got back from seeing this movie...

I actually feel dumber than before I walked in.

  • Personally the superheroes I like the most are not the goody-goody Boyscouts but the ones that have a bit of an evil streak to them, like Batman, Wolverine, Spawn, and yes The Punisher. The Punisher is as close as you can get to a villan and still count as a superhero and THAT'S what makes the character interesting.

  • OK, now I wanna see this version.

The last Punisher movie sucked. Unfortunately (maybe this is just me) but they tried too hard to make him a "good" guy. To my mind the whole point of The Punisher is that he only just barely counts as a good guy because his victims deserve it.

  • I want to see this movie

  • Ah come on, the scene with the Russian was awesome :P

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Would you ever consider reviewing the X files I want to believe?

Just wondering what you would think about it

  • X-files passed me by completely, I never got into the series and I the only place I live duchovny right now is in Californication. I really have no interest in seeing the film even if it is a stand alone sci fi film but I wouldn't mind sitting down and catching it one day it's just not on my very top to do list.

  • I thought the movie would be more terrible, but i guess it is just 'meh' instead.

  • you back on wow yet buddy?

  • No, because my english teacher is a bitch from hell :(

  • i agree Ray Stevenson is the best Punisher so far

  • well said

  • I havent Seen this movie Get but I think its going to be Great.

I liked The Punisher with Thomas Jane

Because That movie didnt have any CGI.

  • when I saw the trailer I was like: ergh... It didn't look that good at all. Not to mention that the villan seemed to act more like the joker than anyone else. But I might give it a try. Good review fury.

  • So is this a sequel? I heard it was a reboot...I personally liked the Thomas Jane one. It wasn't perfect but I thought it was a good Punisher film. So if I saw this could I just consider it a sequel?

  • yeah I personally had no problem considering it a sequel since he's already been the Punisher for a while now and has just a few flashbacks. They changed the Origin a bit but really this isn't nowhere near the kind of Reboot like Batman Begins got for the Batman franchise.

  • The Punisher ...umm a Anti-Hero that has fought in Vietnam and has seen his family getting killed. I say that the Punisher should not be forgotten (i mean the character) and that the Punisher is one of the most realistic characters i have ever seen.

  • FuryoftheFilmFan, I appreciate your review, but you're dead wrong when you say that PWZ is a sequel. It features the correct orgin from the comics which is inconsistant with the 2004 movie.

Any bit of research will tell you that PWZ was definitely intended as a reboot.

  • hold on now , I said it felt more like a sequel than a reboot I never said it was a sequel. I did the research, I heard them toss around the word reboot but all I'm saying is this never felt like a true reboot just a continuation of what movie goers saw in the Thomas Jane film. They didn't change anything with the character only made him tougher and a more seasoned killer.

  • You flat out said to consider it a sequel.

The fact that you think the tone and direction make PWZ work as story within the same universe as the 2004 Punisher, only proves your misunderstanding of the term 'reboot' as well as cause me to question how well you even remember the Tom Jane movie.

Reboot is not synonymous with redoing the orgin. There are a number of stated facts within PWZ that make it IMPOSSIBLE to be considered a proper sequel to 2004.

  • It's a stand alone Punisher reboot, whether you like it or not.

  • What's exactly "REBOOT" here, the fact that Castle was now a Marine and watched his family die in a picnic instead of chasing them down on a motorcycle and seeing them die on a dock?Your average movie-goer is not going to see a difference with the "Reboot" in this film as someone would have if they saw Dark Knight for the first time and compared it to the old Tim Burton series. So yes, I can say to people "Consider" It a sequel because this character is the same punisher that's been laid out

  • For movie goers, If die hard Punisher Fan Boys get offended that people can consider this a continuation of a simple Punisher story line only shows Lexi Alexander and her crew failed to set themselves apart from anything that was laid out by Thomas Jane and failed to make anything truly original only a stronger tone with a tougher Punisher.

So if you wanna play with wordplay and nitpick with me about what constitutes a "Reboot" and why YOU would consider it NOT to be just a another simple movie

  • in the Punisher franchise then by all means go ahead I am sure many people here would love to hear the facts and what separates this movie. Don't feel you NEED to argue with me, go ahead and contribute to the discussion and add your facts. People will benefit more from it than simply you stating what you feel I don't and do understand.

  • Ha Ha, Big Punisher!

  • One of the best punisher's!!! a legend!

  • 100%!

  • Great review... loved the movie!!!

  • You've never read the comics have you? Good non fan review tho. Even if you got alot of the things wrong from the cmoics.

  • whoaaa hold on what did I get wrong about the comics?

  • Well the comics perticuarly the ones by Garth Ennis were always had this very dark streak of silly humor. So it makes sence that it's in the film. It's not really that they're doing it bad. It's supposed to be silly and over the top. Thats hwo the comics are. They cut back and forth between really dark and violent to black comedy.

And I thought from watching the film that the quick cuts where intended to make the scenes play out like comic panels.

  • I mentioned the Max line were darker and more violent than when Punisher was first introduced to mingle with the nice nice super heroes of MArvel but I never said his Ray stevenson's Punisher was out of character in fact I said this was the best most authentic Punisher to date.

As for the quick cuts I really don't think that was intended to make it play out like comic panels. It was too frantic. too each their own though if you enjoyed it then that's cool dont let noone try to make you hate it.

  • I'm not trying to disscount your review. It's very good. I was just saying that the comics are both dark and silly too. So it makes sence that the films cut between the 2.

  • Well Marvel is starting to integrate the Punisher back into the Superhero world and doing it quite well, he even had a prominent role in Marvel's CIVIL WAR event a few years back.

  • Man , Civil War, I hated that series. I would have liked it better if The Punisher trying to fix his life up became the new Captain America but of course they couldn't do that!

  • Its because who wants to a killing machine Captain American ? it would destroy the legacy that Steve Rogers left after he died.

  • My friend hates when I say,"Joe Quesada hates Marvel" he has screwed with our favorite comic heroes and I hated what he did to Spiderman and Ironman. Punisher trying to reform and have the balls to put on the suit would have made edgier storytelling in my opinion. I mean cmon Bucky as captain America? Blahhh I stopped reading after he got shot, Civil War sucked.

  • I hated one more day and brand new day. I would prefer Cap still beign alive but injured , Quesada sucks donkey/monkey ballz

  • amen to that !

  • LOl :D

  • he looks like the jigsaw from saw

  • Eh, I knew it would be crap. Still beats Twilight. Nice review.

  • i have every punisher comics

  • i had a feeling this movie was going to be forgetable just by looking at the trailer. the punisher is a deep enough character to enjoy like spiderman or iron man for example, but i guess this movie was one of marvels weaker efforts.

  • why cant they make a great punisher movie

  • Fury, I want to see your review on Twilight, please

  • nooooooo I don't want to see that! too many good movies coming!

  • Good review.

  • good and nice to watch like all ways..i get realy turn off a movie if its dark to much

  • You want film reviews? This is the place!

Excellent well put together review. 5 stars!

  • Fury, hope you will make a top 10 list of the best movies this year ;D Grate review as always :D

  • there will definitely be a top 10 best and worst.

  • Oh awesome!

  • The first was a masterpiece.

  • The trivia question was sorta lame this time around =C

  • totally, I had no idea what to ask. my brain was fried. 3 hours sleep will do that.

  • I dont think the the question was to bad

  • Always love your reviews Film Fan.

  • thanks man!

  • jigsaw? Me thinks I smell a lawsuit!

  • I think "Jigsaw" was in the original Punisher comics, which came long before the "Saw" series.

  • love the intro :)
