Everyone enjoys different sports in different countries. I tend to agree that gridiron is pretty linear and simple i am a huge rugby and rugby league fan as i am from New Zealand and when you compare those sports to gridiron it just doesn't compare but i can see how a lot of people enjoy watching gridiron. Very rarely will a team with good teamwork but without megastars will win everything in Soccer (i.e. Fulham, Everton) however there is a very good opportunity that such a team will win Gridiron (07 NY giants). Soccer is slowly ruining itself with the out of control spending too (Chelsea, killing the game i love if you ask me.

Honestly, American football is a crappy sport. They can't beat real footballers in athleticism or mentally. It's linear and simple. Even a dim-wit can play American football. I also hate the fact American football fans are insulting real football when they haven't even seen a REAL match. Of course that won't happen because Americans don't even want to broadcast football. @cyberWarriorZ Disagree. I respect both sports, they have a very different set of skills. Soccer is a game of skill and ability. Gridiron is a game of tactics and teamwork. Very rarely will a team with good teamwork but without megastars will win everything in Soccer (i.e. Fulham, Everton) however there is a very good opportunity that such a team will win Gridiron (07 NY giants). Soccer is slowly ruining itself with the out of control spending too (Chelsea, killing the game i love if you ask me.

@franklouuu Nah this world cup was a joke. The level of play was so poor i nearly vomited. Spain didnt win cause they were the best, they won because everyone else played terrible. Only two games which were of any note was the 3rd place game and Uru v Holl. Most of the rest were either one team beating the crap out of the other or one winning by default. Then you get the refereeing, the flopping, the prima donnas etc. At least in the NFL, the prima donnas get the snot beaten out of them.

@engared France and Italy played terribly but the other teams didn't. Spain was clearly the best and a great team. But there were incredible teams like Germany, Uruguay and even Netherlands (in spite of their shaolin soccer). Argentina was playing incredibly good until they were defeated by Germany. Losing 4-0 sometimes doesn't mean that your team is much weaker than the opposite team. Argentina could beat Spain if you ask me.

No; they have to be top athletes as well. Football players can jog around a lot, but American footballers have to play explosively again and again and again over the course of the game. Plus, they are considerably stronger and quicker.

Then, tell them to run away from you, and throw the ball in the air towards them. You will see that more than 80% of them will come closer to hitting the target with a football, and catching the football while running, than being able to hit the same target with the soccer ball and bringing down the ball and controlling it with their feet. It's harder to play soccer.
