@TheKyekid yes it dose u gotta count the duals in the back theres more than one wheel on the back axles there 4 on each side in the back and 2 on the front i should know i drive semi for a living
I remeber one time my old man tried to get cocky he just picked up a trailer a 53' box with maybe like nothing much should've been runnin with the big dogs but he got out of the parking lot there was about 8 inches of snow and an inch of ice i think he hit like twenty mph spun the tires and the truck shut down and wouldn't move aparently it had some sensor and did not like to spin. I ve been drivin 15 yrs now and never seen or heard of it happening so iguess he fucked up good lol
LOL, I like it. Best thing about snow. I don't ski or anything, but I'm always happy to get some nice slippery fresh snow. Soooo fun to play in. Although I've never tried it in a dumptruck. Yet. >)
I should have guessed from the "rallyguy" name...North American trucks don't generally have 6x2. If there are 2 rear axles, chances are good that they are both drive axles. "Bogies" are is you have a 3rd rear axle. And I can see why, since I watched a video of a Scania 6X2 stuck in some light sand the other day. Try driving a big heavy 2WD in the snow sometime, offroad if possible. Bring a bulldozer to pull you out....
well, here in Sweden most of the trucks have 2 rear-axles, and they all drive on the frontaxle but you can difflock it either to lock the frontaxles wheels or both of the axles.... if you raise the boggy you will get mor preasure on the other axle which actually give you better grip...oh and by the way, my father owns a logging truck and i use to drive in the woods on the winter, theres no problem driving 2WD in the snow ;)
Ahh, I see. I think...I'm pretty sure the Scania I was talking about was just 6X2; the guy knows a lot about trucks ("jobergg" he's also Swedish, and has some cool stuff). I'm not clear on what you mean. When you say "all drive on the front axle", you don't mean FWD, right? Do you mean they all have live front ends? And are you saying that you can select the front OR rear axle if you want? That would be odd. Most trucks are RWD, unless you lock the front, and it becomes 4WD (or 6X4).
@justforever96 ..Its called a diff lock...locks up both axles on your prime mover drive wheels ..nothing to do with front wheel drive on the steer...if your a trucker you should know this...it dont make them 4WD or 6x4....in most cases the front drive axel will lock in and the rear opposite will do the same..just gives you drive on both sides...if you have every watched it..in action....and if you forget to unlock it will just push you straight ahead....
@ozziairlegger- I'm not a trucker, I just really like trucks. =) I didn't understand what that guy meant by the "front axle". He meant the front REAR driveaxle (after the bogie wheels) right? And you can either drive with just the front axle, or you can lock in the rear axle as well, to have two driveaxles? That wouldn't be called a 6x4? But what do you mean by "both sides"? Left and right, or front and rear? I don't follow you. You don't mean locking diff's, to make all 4 wheels drive, do you?
Uh...I'm pretty sure that was on purpose, dude. He was playing around in the slippery stuff. Just like I'D be doing! Hehehe. I dunno about that cameraman though; it's pretty feaky when the truck is coming right for him. He must trust the driver a lot, on ice like that!
Tried that succesfully with a tractor trailer a meny times using the spike.Lots of fun.Theyve been doing this stuff in GreenBay WI for along time now.Except up there they chain the tractor to the trailer making it impossible to fully jackknife. Its for the pussies.
