Now.. 11.20 at 119 mph thanks to Lloyd Elliott and Jeff Creech.I have a '71 Skylark GS that turns a 9.70 at 139 mph. So a 13.80 is not all that big a deal to me. This may be a little out of the subject, but do you have any new races with the SHO on film? You and the Team Slow crew are pretty much the only ones that can make a good presentation of a race with good camera work.
Ford SUCKS. Yamaha on the other hand is amazing. They designed and built (at the time) the best n/a V6 on the planet...but, Ford didn't push them to improve it as the years went by. As a result, you have this video. A 1989 SHO against a 1989 TA is a very close race, even from a dig. But when the LT1's came in, the Yamaha motor stayed with the same output. If it had been improved on, the SHO could have been running in the 13's by the mid 90's. But Ford cares too much about the Mustang's rep.

the auto sho has 20 hp less than the standard sho and 20 less #s of torque now go to sho bros garage and ask one of them boys to race and they might hook you up with a little comp like a twin turbo 3.0 that hits 9s in the quarter.
actually you have it backwards. the auto made more power and torque than the stick. but the the hp and torque that was lose to the wheels is far less in a stick. main reason why many 5sp owners swap a 3.2 into them.
my mistake i went to shotimes faq and found out that the 3.0 has 200 fp of torque at 4800 rpm and 220 hp at 6200 rpm and the 3.2 has 215 fp of torque at 4000 rpm and 220 hp at 6200 rpm but a higher hp and torque curve at higher rpm to me seems like the way to go please write me back and let me know how much hp and torque gain you get from switching motors thanks my sho is an 89 and i would like to know
25mph is about the worst speed an SHO can start from besides a dead stop. 50mph would've been a much better start, SHO's can't beat that V8 low end grunt without heavy mods, they only really shine in the upper RPMs. Can tell the guy in the SHO didn't have cats though by that rasp.
Please SHOs are over rated. Had a stock 89 Probe gt turbo and took one out, who was talking shit. With my new car he won't even bother trying. Even if he did it would be a waste of gas beating him.

ok, having driven a 95 lt1 4l60e, and my 95 mtx sho, I must agree with the result, but the area the trans am accels at is the launch, the sho doesn't have bottom end power. From a roll at 45 or 55, the sho will prolly hold dead even, but, you have a cutout, which I assume is before the cats...I can vouch that drops almost half a second on an lt1....but nonetheless, the sho won't stand a chance in hell from those speeds, also, grinding going into reverse is common, it isn't synchronized.

indeed, the best thing for them is 3.73's and traction help(drag radials) the 95 lt1 was a z28 at, and I worked on that alot for my friend. I eeked its best time out of it, 13.6 at 102mph it had purple injectors and a slight cam when he got it, we did the 3.73's and deleted the cats.....great platform to hook

What is all this horsepower per liter crap. The Yamaha 3.0 engine in that Ford is a very sophisticated well designed engine and it makes good power numbers at 220hp, and 200 lb ft of torque. Unfortunately you keep challenging an old tech tried and true 5.7L 275-285hp, 300 + lb ft of torque LT1 engine and you keep getting bit&* slapped by it. You have a low 15 second car and he has a high 13 second car. Get over it.

Ford SUCKS. Yamaha on the other hand is amazing. They designed and built (at the time) the best n/a V6 on the planet...but, Ford didn't push them to improve it as the years went by. As a result, you have this video. A 1989 SHO against a 1989 TA is a very close race, even from a dig. But when the LT1's came in, the Yamaha motor stayed with the same output. If it had been improved on, the SHO could have been running in the 13's by the mid 90's. But Ford cares too much about the Mustang's rep.

the auto sho has 20 hp less than the standard sho and 20 less #s of torque now go to sho bros garage and ask one of them boys to race and they might hook you up with a little comp like a twin turbo 3.0 that hits 9s in the quarter.

actually you have it backwards. the auto made more power and torque than the stick. but the the hp and torque that was lose to the wheels is far less in a stick. main reason why many 5sp owners swap a 3.2 into them.

my mistake i went to shotimes faq and found out that the 3.0 has 200 fp of torque at 4800 rpm and 220 hp at 6200 rpm and the 3.2 has 215 fp of torque at 4000 rpm and 220 hp at 6200 rpm but a higher hp and torque curve at higher rpm to me seems like the way to go please write me back and let me know how much hp and torque gain you get from switching motors thanks my sho is an 89 and i would like to know

25mph is about the worst speed an SHO can start from besides a dead stop. 50mph would've been a much better start, SHO's can't beat that V8 low end grunt without heavy mods, they only really shine in the upper RPMs. Can tell the guy in the SHO didn't have cats though by that rasp.

ok, having driven a 95 lt1 4l60e, and my 95 mtx sho, I must agree with the result, but the area the trans am accels at is the launch, the sho doesn't have bottom end power. From a roll at 45 or 55, the sho will prolly hold dead even, but, you have a cutout, which I assume is before the cats...I can vouch that drops almost half a second on an lt1....but nonetheless, the sho won't stand a chance in hell from those speeds, also, grinding going into reverse is common, it isn't synchronized.

indeed, the best thing for them is 3.73's and traction help(drag radials) the 95 lt1 was a z28 at, and I worked on that alot for my friend. I eeked its best time out of it, 13.6 at 102mph it had purple injectors and a slight cam when he got it, we did the 3.73's and deleted the cats.....great platform to hook

What is all this horsepower per liter crap. The Yamaha 3.0 engine in that Ford is a very sophisticated well designed engine and it makes good power numbers at 220hp, and 200 lb ft of torque. Unfortunately you keep challenging an old tech tried and true 5.7L 275-285hp, 300 + lb ft of torque LT1 engine and you keep getting bit&* slapped by it. You have a low 15 second car and he has a high 13 second car. Get over it.
