@nellaselfgirl they did that for a reason. The fact that they hide his name and call him beast throughout the whole movie is because they want to show his personality persona as it changes from a "beast" to something much more "human" or "manlike" when they depict Gaston as a self centered "man" with beastlike traits. I believe it is to show who the "real" beast is on the inside.

last time I can recall people APPLAUDING and cheering after a film ends! Instead of bolting for the door. I wanted to sit through the credits as a kid and credits back then only had words instead of extras :P

I have to say that the ego-maniac is the best kind of villian to have in a film. You get to watch them shiver and cry like babies when they are faced with fear! That's why I have to rank Gaston as the most-hated character in the ranks of Disney villians! And yes, the ending was way too perfect!! I'm a sucker for romance!!

how could anybody not feel moved by this powerful scene,, Seriously if this doesn't touch your soul, I seriously doubt you are human. I cry everytime I see this, I am crying now actually. Disney did a great job on this movie, my only wish is that more people would learn what this movies teaches, TRUE BEAUTY LIES WITHIN . :) I think Walt Disney would have been proud of this movie if he were alive when it was made.
