  • Wow, do EA-6s carry ARMRAAM?

  • aww you were on a boat for almost a year? aww...thats so cute... try 16 months on the ground in iraq.

  • @dogtired75 In Iraq, you don't have 8 or 12 military jets at max power FEET from your ears. Different dangers.

  • @moron6123 Sorry, but the army guy gets my respect more than the carrier deck crew. They're the ones getting mortared, shot at, roadside bombs, and of course being killed, not the Navy.

  • Its the same wen i fart!

  • Has to be best job in the world, like a huge ejaculation everytime you launch one of those babies.

  • And he's not right under the tailpipe, he'd be just aft of the port main mount if he was. He's at least 10 feet from the aircraft. If he was just under or anywhere near the exhaust he'd be blown aft about 500 feet by that exhaust.

  • @oldgeezer68 click on the "Blown away by the Prowler" top left of the links to the right.

  • I wish we had the video cameras back during Nam that you all have today. There is nothing like the action of launching an F-4 or F-8 with all the bridals and extra holdback man.

the author said the Abe Lincoln broke the record for lenth of deployment since Vietnam. I was port cat crew on the USS Midway... we set that record in the Tonkin Gulf.

  • @ffifer52 Many thanks to you, the men in the video, and all of our men and women serving at home and abroad!

  • where's the cat?

  • @Air Titans you are correct there is nothing out of the ordinary about this Cat shot they do that every time an airplane leaves the deck.

  • Just look at that salt spray covering the parked F/A-18C. Corrosion prevention must be a nightmare for the maintenance techs.

  • @WinchesterRanger man thats some bad corrosion, only a week later and the F18 isnt even visable anymore...

  • sooo... when does the word 'best' come into play?

  • ill never understand why those people are just chillin in that position right next to the aircraft while take off

  • @Srinathor Those are the final checkers. I used to be one of them. You stay that close to see if anything goes wrong during the whole procedure. I have seen MASSIVE fuel leaks right when the airplane is at full power ready to go. If that happens, they have to put both arms up forming an x to tell the shooter to abort the launch. Look for carrier abort launch... there should be something on youtube I suppose...

  • @popeye802 i salute you guys working around the clock that close to aircraft. look alive ,stay alert or your dead. thanks

  • @Srinathor It's what we got paid the big bucks to do. 40 years later I still want to be back there. You may get tired of it (18 hours a day, 7 days a week, weeks on end for 10-11 months with maybe a week off every 30-40 days), but you never get over it. He's what we called a cat checker. You see the easy part here. Checking for fuel and or hydraulic leaks while the plane is rolling up to the cat is the exciting part. Especially at night with no white lights allowed, red only.

  • Any time you see "best ever", watch out, another attention getter. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice vid, but but best ever? Please, spend 5 minutes on youtube.

  • @lorenzol1996 I was expecting to see something I would have to cover my son's eyes

  • Those EA-6Bs are a bitch. I was a Troubleshooter/Final Checker in F-14A & F-18E/F (VF-154/VFA-154). Much less jet blast! I used to love Final Checking Tomcats on the outside of Cat 4, you get blown around in the catwalk. The flight deck gets addictive, it's a rush!

  • I love how the two top comments are the most naive. Seriously ... learn, read and get informed before you post lol

  • @aceflyer89 Do you know what jokes are?

  • Props to the Navy plane techs from an AF tech. You guys do some crazy shit.

  • ummm how is this the best cat shot? aren't they all the same, just with a different pilot and plane.

  • @yoyoyoyoshua

They have 'dial a force' for the cat's.....use more for heavier planes...

  • Those guys are what the navy calls trouble shooters. They are experts in their respective rates (jobs) and their squadrons hand pick them to fix problems as they arrive when flight ops are going on. But one of their rolls is that they launch their particular squadrons aircraft off the deck. These guys were squatting at the aft end of the plane as it goes to high power for launch to watch for any possible problems. Thumbs up, good to go! Crossed arms, stop launch sequence! I was a VA-46 shooter!

  • @jimmyjimbo61 Great description of the job. I was a VF-74 troubleshooter. Good to see someone on here who knows what he's talking about!

  • i thought they were gonna through a cat in the exhuast thing to make it fly :3

  • I had a dream about a year ago that I was in the EA-6 Prowler dropping working SAM suppression while we were listening to "Symphony of destruction" by Megadeth and if I remember correctly it was after watching the movie Flight of the intruder, good thing there was no phantom shiter involved in the dream, lol

  • I don't see anything out of the ordinary here....amazing, yes, but that's SOP, as far as the navy goes.

  • The EA-6B engines resonated at a particualr fequency when they went to full military power before being shot off that I swear my teeth fillings would fall out if I didn't keep my mouth clenched!

  • I actually expected to see a guy shooting his cat

  • Why they don't do that with a F-22 with all that afterburn? I think it would be more fun

  • I WAS AN A-6 ELECTRICIAN ; AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT ; ONE BAD ASS JET

  • There is nothing crazy about this cat shot. That is normal everyday ops on the flight deck.

  • how is this the best cat shot ever?

  • thumbs up if mw2 brought you here!

  • I was on this cruise!

  • Poster, the white shirt was nowhere near the tailpipe, even or just inboard of pylon 2.

  • Eh, it was only Jake.... Nothing amazing about that fool.

  • it's amazing how many people know so little about our military

  • wheres the cat, wheres the gun?

  • whers the cat? LOLz

  • @DARILyankee ar eu blind?

  • @RGCx4SHOTx no. i just did not see a cat

  • @DARILyankee its right under the plane?

  • @RGCx4SHOTx :FP

  • @DARILyankee "cat" mentioned here means catapult system used for quick launch of the plane...

  • @rederfutube lol im not an idiot, i just act like one. but i appreciate u taking the time to explain it to me :)

  • Go Navy!!!!!

  • Harry , Staunton Lager, Potter..... three terrorists dead.

I Sobered the poor fucker up and ended up with Harry Potter...

Catapults... it's all fund and games till you jump up in the air whooping

  • go cougars

  • wow, lame. you lose.

  • @HARRYFRIGGINPOTTER1 And your name is Harry Potter.....so, no. You do.

  • fyi...the guys weren't right underneath the tailpipe

  • EA-6B!! go prowler!!

  • that was awesome he could even stand up

  • that was awesome he could even stand up

  • Not sure what's great about this particular cat shot.

  • LOL fuckin airdales .

  • @tenorismo Just remember, its your stage but, its our show! Nobody goes to see the stage. If there were no planes there would be no need for carrier.

  • @tenorismo It may be your stage but, its our show!

  • @vf74tomcat Tin can sailor here. Gunners mate. I didn't have springs on my rack.

  • @tenorismo No springs on ours either. Not sure how the new carriers are. I was on the Saratoga and Eisenhower. Much smoother ride than you had, though. LOL!

  • @vf74tomcat I hear they have room service lol

  • @tenorismo I should have stayed in longer! LOL!

  • @vf74tomcat stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN72 from november 2007- january 2009. no springs yet!!

  • @tenorismo i'm ABH3, on my carrier TODAY we dont have springs

  • The guys are the flight deck troubleshooters

  • When I saw the title, I was expecting to see a domestic animal shot out of a cannon.

  • @lorenzol1996 gay

  • @DevilDog66717 How am I gay?

  • @lorenzol1996 I could probably catch my neighbours cat and make a video like that for you,

    It would be my pleasure.

  • A-6 intruder?

  • @acomerla21 no its an EA6-B

  • @jabird73 Not an "Intruder" but a "Prowler" ECM/EW aircraft if I am not mistaken.

  • Good run,, take it rough. Blue and Yellow. Amen. R.I.P. Old Mirimar.

  • Fucking Hardcore. Thumbs up, guys.

  • i be scared to blow off the deck

  • the guy kneeling down is called Plane Checkers. They worked on that aircraft. they make sure the wings and the jet exhaust engine works prior launching. i know this cuz im a proud plane checker!!!

  • @DEATHBYGRACE Thank you for your military service.

  • @DEATHBYGRACE - Actually, they are called Final Checkers or Safety Checkers. Not to be nick picky. I used to be one.

  • @RetiredUSNavy i thought they were troubleshooters?

  • @Halfand8 - The Troubleshooters walk the jet to the catapult checking the jet as they go. The Finalcheckers go from there, checking that all movable surfaces are working properly and that nothing goes wrong before luanching. I guess you can say we are both correct. :-)

  • what is tha guy doing next to the jet? is he the one that lights the fuse?

  • @fuji2failo lmao

  • @fuji2failo he conects the launcher to the air planes os it cna take off

  • @fuji2failo he is a troubleshooter

  • airplane82 is exactly right, maybe close after lauch, but not that close

  • Prowlers are being replaced by the F18 Growler.

  • @skytalon74 Nobody asked...

  • @viruslived Is it irrelevant? This is called commenting, not Q & A.

  • he's not directly behind the exhaust nozle, if he was, he'd be blown back at least a hundred feet or more from were he was crouching when the plane shot off the carrier!! so really ya he's a little closer than some may wanna be, but he wouldn't sit there if he knew he was in a hazardous spot!!

  • maybe it was a dare lol

  • was he even supposed to be that close?

  • Lol the dude doing the checks or whatever looks like he's gonna race the plane.

    Marks, Set, Fucking go!!!!!!!

  • Where's the cat?

  • catapult noob

  • dumbass

  • what do you mean by " best cat shot " your not a ABE

  • Gotta love a prowler especially when its sporting some HARM anti radiation missles!

  • what exactly is involved in a cat shot? its not on wiki...

  • a cat shot is naval term for catapult launch

  • the guys they show in the video claming to have the best cat shot have absolutly nothing to do with the cat they are squadron safety all they do is check the aircraft before take off

  • @cypris2002 I was a troubleshooter on Tomcats. Thats what those guys were. And as far as "all" they do. They have preflight checks, postflight checks, and most repairs on the flight deck to make sure you make the launch. Even though i was an airframer I had to know powerplants, electrical, electronics, and life support systems. If you were an ABE, "all" you had to do was push a button.

  • So!

  • You gotta love the prowler!!

  • i bet his ears are still ringing....prowlers are so damn loud

  • Damn ya got robbed then we had 2 and was only out for 3 months, but it ain't make a difference to me I sold my tickets.

  • I remember that time frame I was on board the Kitty Hawk and I think Abe Lincoln was out there for about 11 months or more. I was complaining about 3 months. Damn I bet you'll had a lot of beer days.

  • only 2 that I remember.

  • @dagrownup omg you remember abe lincoin how old are you sir?

  • He's a Trouble Shooter. They take one last look at the bird before it launches, and he's giving the thumbs up to launch.

  • What exactly is the White Crew Member doing there...

  • the called trouble shooter/final checker there giving the thumbs up to the yellow shirt shooter and the down like that so they lean in to the exhaust

  • lol i bet it's warm down there

  • That cruise sucked. Especially New Years day.

  • incredible
