@moron6123 Sorry, but the army guy gets my respect more than the carrier deck crew. They're the ones getting mortared, shot at, roadside bombs, and of course being killed, not the Navy.
A False Flag Attack is possibly underway and the USS Enterprise is the prime candidate for the fake attack to be used to ignite the war with Iran. This old ship is to be decommissioned and is the perfect candidate to be sunk in the straight of Hormuz.

And he's not right under the tailpipe, he'd be just aft of the port main mount if he was. He's at least 10 feet from the aircraft. If he was just under or anywhere near the exhaust he'd be blown aft about 500 feet by that exhaust.

@Srinathor Those are the final checkers. I used to be one of them. You stay that close to see if anything goes wrong during the whole procedure. I have seen MASSIVE fuel leaks right when the airplane is at full power ready to go. If that happens, they have to put both arms up forming an x to tell the shooter to abort the launch. Look for carrier abort launch... there should be something on youtube I suppose...
@Srinathor It's what we got paid the big bucks to do. 40 years later I still want to be back there. You may get tired of it (18 hours a day, 7 days a week, weeks on end for 10-11 months with maybe a week off every 30-40 days), but you never get over it. He's what we called a cat checker. You see the easy part here. Checking for fuel and or hydraulic leaks while the plane is rolling up to the cat is the exciting part. Especially at night with no white lights allowed, red only.
Any time you see "best ever", watch out, another attention getter. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice vid, but but best ever? Please, spend 5 minutes on youtube.
Those EA-6Bs are a bitch. I was a Troubleshooter/Final Checker in F-14A & F-18E/F (VF-154/VFA-154). Much less jet blast! I used to love Final Checking Tomcats on the outside of Cat 4, you get blown around in the catwalk. The flight deck gets addictive, it's a rush!
Those guys are what the navy calls trouble shooters. They are experts in their respective rates (jobs) and their squadrons hand pick them to fix problems as they arrive when flight ops are going on. But one of their rolls is that they launch their particular squadrons aircraft off the deck. These guys were squatting at the aft end of the plane as it goes to high power for launch to watch for any possible problems. Thumbs up, good to go! Crossed arms, stop launch sequence! I was a VA-46 shooter!
I had a dream about a year ago that I was in the EA-6 Prowler dropping working SAM suppression while we were listening to "Symphony of destruction" by Megadeth and if I remember correctly it was after watching the movie Flight of the intruder, good thing there was no phantom shiter involved in the dream, lol
The EA-6B engines resonated at a particualr fequency when they went to full military power before being shot off that I swear my teeth fillings would fall out if I didn't keep my mouth clenched!
@tenorismo No springs on ours either. Not sure how the new carriers are. I was on the Saratoga and Eisenhower. Much smoother ride than you had, though. LOL!
the guy kneeling down is called Plane Checkers. They worked on that aircraft. they make sure the wings and the jet exhaust engine works prior launching. i know this cuz im a proud plane checker!!!
@Halfand8 - The Troubleshooters walk the jet to the catapult checking the jet as they go. The Finalcheckers go from there, checking that all movable surfaces are working properly and that nothing goes wrong before luanching. I guess you can say we are both correct. :-)
