Souf in Arabic means Wool and also means to totally clean something. Sufis wear clothes of Wool because it is cheap and also clean out there hearts from Nafs (Urge to Sin) and become close to Allah.

The origin of Islam is Shiism (Beloved Prophet and His Family -Peace upon Them)

Then, for political reasons, Sunni branch departed from the Family of our beloved Prophet.. Later some Shia joined Sunni; those are the Sufi.

Ahle Sunnah Waljama'ah is the true Sunni who follow Sunnah strictly and accordingly. Sunni follows either one Mazhab i.e Hanafi, Hambali, Maliki, and Shafe'i. Those who does not follow any one of these Mazhab are not ahle Sunnah Waljama'ah.Whilst, Sufi are the Sunni people who immersed themselves deeply into Tasawuf. The people who are the followers of any Murshid Shaykh and be guided.
