Because of "The Ballad of Oh Boy", I have always mispronounced Sophia Loren's last name, with accent on the first syllable (to better rhyme with Chief Justice Warren) instead of on the second. It didn't help that the last name of Donna Loren, a singer on the "Shindig" T.V. show a few years later, really was pronounced with the accent on the 1st syllable.
As a blonde haired blue eyed Midwestern Swede child, Allen Sherman was my introduction to the Jewish faith, as well as it's people. Oh how I wish I were Jewish instead of what I am....a worthless Scandinavian. I am lucky NOT to be a child molester like so many are and union people driving up the cost of living in order to sit on their ass while the rest of us pay them for it which in turn drives up the price of the GNP.
Y'know young missy,ah always thought them Scumdanavians were a shiftless lot and na'you add that they might be an inbred pack of vikings as well.Ah say put em' all in Gitmo wit da towel haids!!...and we shall meet soon an' ah'll make fur you some gefilte fish. Dat's fish wit da filter still on.

If you ever perform in a synogogue in Waco, Texas, let me know! I would love to jam, or perhaps Gefilte fish jelly, with you! I suppose you do Smothers Brothers, too?
Merowitz, Berowitz, Handelman, Schandelman, Sperber and Gerber and Steiner and Stone. Boskowitz, Lubowitz, Aaronson, Baronson, Kleinmann and Feinman and Friedman and Cohen.
Smallowitz, Wallowitz, Tidelbaum, Mandelbaum, Levin, Levinsky, Levine and Levi.
Brumburger, Schlamburger, Minkus and Pinkus and Stein with an EI and Styne with a Y
..that's so great :)
Sherman did a lot of great songs and it's nice to see you performing this and to find it on youtube.
It is wonderful to see someone paying tribute to one of the first modern-day successful parody songwriters who paved the way for people like Weird Al. Thank you for posting this and please keep posting of your tributes. I would love to see your show, do you have a website?

Okay, Dave.
Allan Sherman was the consummate parodic genius.
You channel him admirably.
But when will we see YOUR grand opus,
"Mickey Mouse Is on My Telephone?"
Animated figures! Not a living creature!
Silly imitation MOUSSSSE!
A nation grooved to it at Woodstock,
and yearns to see it again!
-- An old Dave in The Morning and Dadavision fan.

I grew up on Allan Sherman songs. It's almost as if it was my Going-To-Bed-Songs.
I love it.
Thanks

Better than nothing, maybe, but can't someone post the original? And just one laugh for "Ocean Parkway?" Oy!
