orchestral, production, and melodic masterpiece representing the intellectual and cultural apex of this civilization: the 1970s; note the grand New York Philharmonic Orchestra, with Gene Orloff, concertmaster
I was born/grew up in Mexico, enjoyed to listen this tune in 1977 at the disco were I worked, lucky me I visited NYC after moving to USA and enjoyed the Big Apple from A-to-Z! Proud American Citizen by now and since I'm a travel industry baby boomer, I always wonder WHY the NYC CVB never made an effort to use this music in tourism promos?
I'm sure that even Ol' blue eyes (Sinatra) is dancing with this music...
Decadent, infidel? You betcha! I love this music!!! Great Job!
Thanks I even cry when i remember my trip to New York and i see this video. It shows how delightful it is to be a New Yorker. All I want to do in my next trip is have my iPod running this song and walk and dance in New York magnificente avenues. I really LOVE NEW YORK
Thanks, Meloximan! I'm glad you agree. Perhaps the only section of Manhattan that has not changed in attitude and flavor is Greenwich Village. I was born and raised there until I was 12, then we moved to Queens. Back in the 70s and even 80s, I tell you, it was invigorating--so much going on! Much more freedom, too. Now you have petty laws and cops everywhere--definitely not the New York I remember!!! Still, it's an OK city if you are visiting town for awhile.Broadway Plays are still entertaining!
Love the song! Lots of memories when I was a kid in the '70s. Odyssey hit it square on the head with New York City's popular anthem...AT LEAST BACK IN THE DAY!(1977-1998?). Unfortunately, NYC is not what it used to be and as far as I'm concerned, it's only New York by name ONLY. Born-n-raised NYers are fast disappearing;after the late-1990s, all went downhill,i.e.out-of-towner yuppies, Times Square's a goddamn corny-ass Disneyland, etc. Oh, well, one can only reminisce about the good old days!
As a Michigander who has visited NYC only a few times--and loved it--I must admit I've always thought of what is now New York, if it always had that tourist trap feel. Your Time's Square comment made me laugh and realize you're probably correct!
Killer editing to an absolute classic tune from the wonderful disco years. LOVE the 'NYPD-BLUE' type photography and the Sat. Night Fever clips; goes great with the song. Brilliant!
