Schumsky is one of the most inspiring musicians in my short-lived life. I listen to his playing of Giuseppe's pieces all day whether at work, at school, or in the car. He is truly an amzing force of music.

Maybe you should remember that this cadenza was not written by the Tartini, the man of the legend, but by Kreisler, who didnt call the devil to take a nap or whatever hahaa but anyway it also evokes many different feelings when i listen to this masterpiece
The story behind "Devil's Trill" starts with a dream. Tartini allegedly told the astronomer Jérôme Lalande that he dreamed that The Devil appeared to him and asked to be his servant. At the end of their lessons Tartini handed the devil his violin to test his skill the devil immediately began to play with such virtuosity that Tartini felt his breath taken away. When the composer awoke he immediately jotted down the sonata, desperately trying to recapture what he had heard in the dream.
tartini couldnt write exactly what the devil played, and he was so angry, he wanted to smash his violin and give up on music. then a couple years later, kreisler took the song and revised it.
Actually Tartani had a hypogogic hallucination of the devil playing a song on a violin, he then tried to remake the song but the masterpiece he made he called it massively inferior to what the devil played.
@Waterpaw1 of course it was a hallucination (sarcasm), mainstream america can't phathom a God actually existing, nor could they phathom their "adversary" creating something better than the concept of good; "jesus"
Ok, you didnt read my comment completely, the sonata is of course, by tartini, aside from any legend or whatever, but the music you are listening at this video is the cadenza written by kreisler, this is not part of tartini work, just to make the aclaration
@Amarynthine I wouldn't put too much superstition into it. Maybe it was the cereal he ate that morning.... It's sad all the same, but you can't let that stop you from playing a piece.
But the legend goes that he dreamt of the devil playing the violin. When he woke up he tried to produce the same sound that he heard and his dream, but this was as close as he could get.
yes, thats the same thing i did...satan rules, his is our master and lord, only he rules the world with his power and mercy, pray with me dear brother, and you will become a satan's child. heil satan! heil satan! heil satan! 666 666 666
I had the pleasure of seeing Shumsky when I was a teenager, and he was pretty old. Quite a few years ago now; and he did make a few technical mistakes, which always surprises when you hear the best players. But, the memory that stays with me is of remarkable music. An audience left feeling that they knew something of the chap, and a sense of joy.
This piece is so beautiful. I taught myself how to play it on the flute a year ago. I love listening to this song on cloudy days with a nice cup of hot chocolate.<3
I listened to this about 5 or 6 times and turned off the computer at about midnight and was on my way to my room (it was pitch black, everyone in my house was sleeping and I didn't bother turning on any lights I knew my way around my house) I was about to go downstairs (to my room)....
...when I realized I left my book that I wanted to finish on the upstairs stair case so I turned on the hallway light so I could find it...and found it. After I was done I turned around to turn on the other light (for downstairs) so that I could also grab my homework out of my backpack while I was there........and then that's when I saw it...
...It was about 3 1/2 inches long and 2 inches away from my index finger. It was dark brown and hairy. A brown recluse spider. Squirming right over the light switch that I was about to turn on. I quickly rolled up my home work and killed the spider(without thinking I was going to have to complete my homework...and have to turn in...it was not fun trying to maneuver around a big oily looking spot with red smudges and 2of the 8 legs sticking to it.)...
I think that this beautiful and amazing piece definitely has some other worldly...curse or...power because every time after I listen to this something bad happens, but unfortunately I can't stop listening to this.
such an otherworldly piece. he was supposed to have got stuck composing and had a dream in which the devil played the the rest of the sonata in exchange for his soul. he then woke up and wrote the last third. hope he didn't have to keep to his word lol
He inspired me to keep playing i started when i was 13yr now I'm 19yrs old,and still strong,i love this last piece and the middle part the 2nd verse, may the devils trill live on in those who believe and play with our hearts.
I'm glad to hear that this piece has inspired others to keep at it. It has and always will be a personal goal of mine to work on this piece for the rest of my life. I just love it and never tire playing it.
Thanks so much for uploading! The last couple of seconds of sound are damaged, would you be able to re-upload or re-rip? Either way, thanks.

Is this the same version that Giuseppe Tartini had the infamous dream? (meaning is it off the same music sheet?)

Absolutely beautiful.
He didn't sell his soul, I believe the devil basically played this piece in a dream of his; the explanation is in the comments of the first part.

I heard tartini sold his soul to the devil just to make this, was that true?

Dunno.
