  • This video is so damn cool. When I was a kid, first becoming interested in railroading, my grandfather had told me that the first train he ever saw was at Ft. Benning when he joined the Army in 1943. Who knows, he may have been there the day this video was filmed.

  • This is some great stuff! Too bad you didn't find the first reel. There must be more film of the railroads somewhere. There were other posts that had this size railroads too. Ft Dix NJ, you can still find bits and pieces out on the ranges

  • Gotta Love the "Rolling Class Room" aspect of this clip! Guys peeking in the cab of the locomotive hanging from the side so they can observe operation! That whould never get done today!
