You wil find the one who came on the idee to make a screwremover (give in
"Schaubenlinksausdreher" . Do the same as in the drawings is made with your bits.
It will work better as this modified version of it. I wrote "Askthebuilder" he said ,he´s is the developer before Billy Mays made it. (See the question of @plugslee) he toold that he was copied. The idee was to remove sealed windows from a F-27 Aircraft.
The drill being used to extract has too high of an RPM setting. Looks like it's not a variable. Extractors are usually used with a slow turn so it digs into the head of the screw but doesn't do so so fast that it slices off too much material and just becomes a drillbit instead of an extractor.
i bought the craftsman set when they first came out and i would like my money back, however sometimes they do work. This grabit looks pretty good but dont have the money to try them right now. Did you ever get them ?
Have you tried testing The Grabit? It was also advertised on TV by Billy Mays (before he died) and we now sell them online at theGrabitStore - they work great and are guaranteed for life with a free replacement.
a good thing i lernt is if you do come across this problem and the screw extractor doesnt work only if the screw is sticking out a minimum of about 10mm, remove your screw bit holder from your hand drill, place the chuck over the screw head and tighten it up over the screw then put the drill in reverse and pull the screw out.
Oh man... I just bought this online about 5 minutes ago and it's being shipped to Singapore from the UK. I'm trying to remove a few screws from an old guitar. Bit of head damage but not as severe as the ones in your vid. Hope I didn't just blow my had earned money away.
For a M10 bolt you might be able to use a screw extractor. The type where you drill a hole and then insert the extractor and turn it anti-clockwise using a wrench.
Give the bolt a smack with a hammer first and spray it with spray penetrant, as this can help to loosen the bolt.
Yes I have tried the threaded screw extractors at work, sometimes they work but on a really stubborn stud they do not work, that is when the welder and a nut come in handy. I think the heat generated during welding helps to loosen the bond between the threads!
I think maybe the speed of the drill wasnt slow enough, the screw extractors are designed to bite into thee screw head just enough to turn the screw. if you have a little too much speed then you just turn the screw extractor into a countersink bit.maybe a lighter drill will give better feel.
I have a similar set they do remove quite a few but they do fail one some difficult ones.great videos keep them comming.
set it on a lower speed

@LoneRiderz
It should work easily on screws in a guitar.
The ones I put in were very firmly screwed in.

Can I use it on hex torx bolts?
bigcreator 1 year ago
@bigcreator
I doubt if it will work on Bolts. What size are the bolts?
I have welded a nut to the end of rounded off torx bolts in the past, then removed them using a spanner.

@ultimatehandyman
ok
the size I am not sure.. about m10
I dont have a welder so will need to re think.
