You can honestly have a perfectly accurate, high-quality translation without swearing (at least of the George-Carlin's-seven-words variety - what constitutes rude language in Japanese is completely foreign in comparison to English, and vice-versa), and presumably Square would rather shoot for a larger audience that includes children.

ArchaeAvis used to kill me over and over in my 1st run-thru of the game about 8 or so years ago. I dont quite remember what level I was or what job I had unlocked, but I do remember I beat him with a berserker (pure melee damage) and only one of my characters survived.

Somehow I always thought your cliffhanger for this scene would occur right when the crystal shatters, but then I guess viewers could only a hear a tiny portion of "The Evil Lord Exdeath" and would have to hear the rest the next episode. Since it's a new song, that just wouldn't be right (although I guess you could have just started the next episode right before the crystal shatters).

Anyway, it's nice to know your boss strategy was about the same as mine. =D

I agree totally. Call it silly if you wish, but I love his backstory, his appearance, and really everything else about him (except his name, but hey :P ). But he is nonetheless overshadowed by another villain in this game who will so far go unmentioned, but who is the most awesome FF villain in any game and has the most awesome music as well.
