@INDYOSKARS They do look bigger in isolation than "in person" so to speak. But also understand I am 6'5" (196cm) with monkey length arms and large hands, so guitars tend to look small in my hands. Presently I am finishing up a medieval viol (see the viol instrument page for that - youtube will be up when I finish it). There will be another Citole, an early 15th century transitional one, but that is still in planning stages, so updates for that will not appear for a month or so.
@conradleviston Because I've very rarely seen it depicted that way. Almost all of the iconography I have found shows individual strings, not courses. The 13th Century Summa Musica suggests tuning of d a d' g', again as four independent strings. Kate Buehler's reconstruction uses courses (based on number of pegs), and the Lincoln Cathedral glass (see page) is definitely strung in courses, not singles. So not a hard & fast rule, just didn't seem to be as common.
There appears to be a weird glitch at 2:10 (where a section of the video is missing). Not sure what happened there. I will see if I can fix and reload.
This Citole gives the illusion of being bigger on
your site, compared to when you are holding it.
Have you stopped putting up new things on
your site The Citole Project ?

I got here from your "citole project" page. Wow! It's amazing the number of people I have met who have also drooled over that page.
Just a quick question, I notice that you have never used double string courses. Any particular reason for that?

THAT SURE IS A BEAUTIFUL CITOLE.
WHAT TUNING ARE YOU USING ?
IGOROZKARSKY 1 year ago
@IGOROZKARSKY It's tuned CGcg, with the low string one octave below middle C, or the same as the low C on a viola.
