Well I assume you have other taxes than the GST. This sales tax -- the Fair tax -- takes the place of ALL taxes, income, soc sec, inheritance, AMT, every personal tax at federal level, Thats 2.3 trillion. One study here showed to repalce all those the tax would be 57%.

Personally, I like the idea. Because you can avoid the tax system by not purchasing things unless you "need" them. 1) My household combined income is easily over 200K and the tax cuts helped me a ton. I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination.
2) Define rich? Just giving out a number and saying your rich is incredibly silly -- you make no effort to index that number to cost of living. 100K in New York City is like just poverty line; the same 100K in Biloxi and you'd live like a king.

The solution is across the board cuts and elimination of repetitive departments... Taxes may need to increase on the richest 1%, but we first need to cut spending and adjust as needed... The interest on our national debt is alarming... we could fully pay for healthcare for most americans if we were owed that money rather than owing it to china/japan/social security/etc...

Well I assume you have other taxes than the GST. This sales tax -- the Fair tax -- takes the place of ALL taxes, income, soc sec, inheritance, AMT, every personal tax at federal level, Thats 2.3 trillion. One study here showed to repalce all those the tax would be 57%.
But Fairtax contends - get this -- its only 23%, and ITS FREE anyway. It wont cost ANYTHING really, prices will go down by so much, you wont even notice the 23%

Personally, I like the idea. Because you can avoid the tax system by not purchasing things unless you "need" them. Instead, people today spend recklessly and run their credit cards up the max limits and then pray for a credit service to come and rescue them, or just simply file Bankruptcy. This "Fair Tax" would almost force people to watch what they spend. Could be a good thing...

"rich" is a subjective word. Where do we draw the Line? $50,000 to many people is rich. But if you have a family of 4, this is not "rich". If you make less than $75,000 per year, you only pay 20% of the tax burden. Is that really overtaxed? Let's look at the facts before we get emotional. Businesses don't pay taxes--they only pass them off through their goods.

We can have a simple fair tax policy - four pages long, and clear to anyone. But the FairTax plan of a high sales tax doesnt even slow down at stupid -- it goes right to insane. It would have to be at least 40% -- not 23 as they asdmit. So you would pay 40% sales tax on a new house -- no one in history of the world has had a tax like that. You would have 40% sales tax on medical cost -- no one in world has done that. Its not the rith fix. Its stupid.

It says to "promote" the general welfare. What's the best way to promote it? Provide for it. Private charities are nice, but as of now there isn't a private charity that could possibly afford to pay the bills of 47 million uninsured Americans. So, what then? The US is one of the few developed nations without universal health care (we're joined in that category by great nations like the Bahamas and Bulgaria). The only way to fix this is taxes. Responsible taxes-tax the people who can afford it.

Tax cuts for the 80% gives them more spending, debt paying, and investment money. A rich man isn't going to buy 40 loafs of bread. There are certain products that people just don't buy in bulk because they have the money for it. When the rich paid a higher % in the 50s-70 the middle class accrued less individual debt, had a greater interest proportionate income, and there was less of a gap between the rich and poor.

Dennis proposes the redistribute the budget - Less Money spent on Military, No Tax Cuts for the Rich, etc. As Dennis points out, if you just used the money people are already paying for heath insurance and put it towards the national non-profit system you would have enough to provide heathcare for everybody and it would be cheaper in the long run!

Also, you have yet to show how bestiality is almost the same thing as gay marriage. You say they are both wrong therefore the same. So, are murder and embezzlement the same thing? You mention that no one has to tell a dog how to hump. Think of it this way: Even if a twelve year old asks you to have sex with them, it's still rape. Same thing in the case of the dog. Two consenting adults, however, should be allowed to marry regardless of gender.

If oil and goods is embargoed from nations with poor human rights(well maybe leave china alone) the price of gas would go way up and there would be a huge incentive for research that may result in better and environmental alternatives. The answer is YES simply because they are going to stop the tax break that Bush cut. They say its for the top wealthy family, and maybe it is, but folks... by stopping it... we're looking at the average american family paying about $2500 more annually.

that may be true (i will be searching for fact verification tonight) but it does not include the fact that with any decreased taxes there is the tax money that is NOT reaching american hands. an exceeding amount of money has been cut from schools, college loans and hospitals and put into millitary funding and luxury items for "high power" politicians and rich members of society. less taxes, less tax benefit? not the way it's supposed to work.

1) My household combined income is easily over 200K and the tax cuts helped me a ton. I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination.
2) Define rich? Just giving out a number and saying your rich is incredibly silly -- you make no effort to index that number to cost of living. 100K in New York City is like just poverty line; the same 100K in Biloxi and you'd live like a king.
The Bush tax cuts saved my butt, and saved the butts of many people like me who live in high cost areas.
