Please let us know how you achieved this hairstyle. I tried the curly fro last week, based on your tutorial and it came out OK. I think I should have sectioned my hair in smaller parts and maybe used a different product to moisturize it. Otherwise, I will try the style again using Carol's Daughter Hair Milk and see what happens.

Check out ShidaNatural's videos on gels. She has some great suggestions. You can also try Pantene Classic gel. The one with the blue writing. Not the one for curly hair. I use the Classic gel and it weighs down my coarse hair rather beautifully. And, it does not leave any flakes and is easily rinsed out. The only thing is that you have to use it when your hair is really wet.
Just used clear Eco styler gel today. The best heavy gel ever! I did a wash n go with the Eco styler gel. The curl elongation was as if I had relaxed it! Very little shrinkage when dry. I did use a lot...sectioned my hair and applied the gel then smoothed each section. Shake, shake, shake and the curls will pop and be long.
Hey try eco styler gel w/protein (its in a dark brown jar, white top) it works pretty good. Im not sure what part of atl youre in, but when I got my extensions I went to Wesley Chapel Beauty Supply on Wesley Chapel Rd. the people were pretty nice there! Oh yeah, your hair is nice!
Hey my hair is thick and big also. I use so the clear and Softee Protein Styling Gel when my hair is wet. I take a brush and brush my hair with the Gel on it and it crimps up lay down. So I think you can try that and it will help on big hair. If you need mor voulme just take a bow dryer and pick to lift hair up. I get my Gel form Dollar General. I also use Zero Frizz Hari Serum Extra Strength. It's a glosser and frizz serum. I thnk I got that from foodlion or Wal-Mart. Hopes this helps let me no

Hi Ms Heather I reviewed your comments about the Aphogee 2 min reconstructor I learned a lot I am getting ready for my 2nd week post perm wash this Saturday on June 6th when I did my first wash I paid attention to my hair while washing and it looks like I am am going 2 need moisture for this next wash Can I do the Aphogee shampoo for damaged hair the 2 min reconstructor and then follow it with Organic Roots Deep Conditioning Moisturizer? Or what deep conditioning moisturizer would u recommend?
Well, Idk what's in the OR Deep Conditioning moisturizer. If it's not protein laden, what you're suggesting should be fine. If it is, I'd try using another Deep conditioner, like Elasta QP DPR, Aussie 3 minute miracle, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner. These are just a few, but you should be able to google protein free conditioners and get a good bit of hits. Good luck.

I agree, we just need to educate ourselves on what ingredients to avoid instead of believing the stuff that product makers tell us. I only recently started to learn about issue with mineral oil, petroleum and SLS and am shocked abt the % of black hair products that contain this junk yet claim to be beneficial.
You could try Sumo Wax by Bumble and Bumble. It's not a gel, but every time I use it after washing my hair. It really freezes my curls and keeps my hair down. When it dries it is basically the same (length wise and curl pattern) as when it was wet.
shine hair polisher gel (its a clear gel) is really nice and fairly inexpensive...you can find it at walmart or cvs...however its pretty heavy and when i use it in my hair (3 inches) its kinda damp at the end of the day. hope that helps :)

HeatherNicole, if you exercise regularly I would suggest investing in a wig because a weave is very difficult to maintain a clean, fresh scalp. A wig, there's no commitment, it looks great everyday, you can shampoos your hair regularly.

OH! On having extensions, I think you should totally go for it. I've been natural for 4 years and I have weave done every now and again to take a break and protect my hair.
TIP:
Don't be alarmed when you take the weave out and there's a bit of shedding. It's normal. This is only due to the fact that you haven't, obviously been combing your natural hair. If you go for a straight weave, you can wrap it like you do your own hair (minus saran wrap). This will keep it neat and fresh all the time.

For gel try Ampro clear ice. They have it at the pharmacies and target like 2-3 dollars. It's nice and heavy and from what I can tell not a lot of protein. Check it out!

She is Dark skinned... Are yall fucking retarted? Yes she is light brown but she would be considered a dark skinned girl.. If she went to a modeling agency or something she would be classified as darkskin.. there is nothing wrong with that,,, and stop replying to me.

I agree, we just need to educate ourselves on what ingredients to avoid instead of believing the stuff that product makers tell us. I only recently started to learn about issue with mineral oil, petroleum and SLS and am shocked abt the % of black hair products that contain this junk yet claim to be beneficial.

You could try Sumo Wax by Bumble and Bumble. It's not a gel, but every time I use it after washing my hair. It really freezes my curls and keeps my hair down. When it dries it is basically the same (length wise and curl pattern) as when it was wet.

shine hair polisher gel (its a clear gel) is really nice and fairly inexpensive...you can find it at walmart or cvs...however its pretty heavy and when i use it in my hair (3 inches) its kinda damp at the end of the day. hope that helps :)

HeatherNicole, if you exercise regularly I would suggest investing in a wig because a weave is very difficult to maintain a clean, fresh scalp. A wig, there's no commitment, it looks great everyday, you can shampoos your hair regularly.

OH! On having extensions, I think you should totally go for it. I've been natural for 4 years and I have weave done every now and again to take a break and protect my hair.
TIP:
Don't be alarmed when you take the weave out and there's a bit of shedding. It's normal. This is only due to the fact that you haven't, obviously been combing your natural hair. If you go for a straight weave, you can wrap it like you do your own hair (minus saran wrap). This will keep it neat and fresh all the time.

For gel try Ampro clear ice. They have it at the pharmacies and target like 2-3 dollars. It's nice and heavy and from what I can tell not a lot of protein. Check it out!

I'm trying Garnier Fructis Fiber Gum Putty, and it helps, but you have to use it VERY sparingly. Still looking for that perfect product though!
