Governments are constantly seeking ways to generate income, control public movement and register any empowering technology in the name of "public safety". Total disregard for the environment and willful ignorance of conservation and efficiency characterize the automobile industry.

think and really use your mind, if you replace all the ebikes on the road and put in another car going to and from. the size of a bike to the size of a car what do you think will happen, it would take hours to go 30 k, you should be going the other way and charge more for people to use a big car sucking up more gas and more space on the street. it just other way to make sure you pay pay pay pay (dish out more of the little money you have to a goverment)

I agree, those people want to go fast should get motorcycles and ride in the car lanes. E-bike speed limit should be again 12.5mph and more bus and taxis added to the streets.
