  • i can hear fleming's mp4 from here lol

  • I used the snow effect throughout this video >:D

  • Here is the point... if you're not cleaning in the same range you are squatting then there is no need to squat that much, you aren't gaining any more strength from the squat for the clean. If you're training purely for weightlifting then you don't squat heavy. Front squats are more important. Regular squats are just for keeping the legs fit. If you can only clean 182kg then why overtrain the joints and ligaments by squatting with 230kg. It is more important to front squat with 180kg+.

  • @MrOnceinside There are countless videos on YouTube of international lifters like Rezazadah backsquatting well over what they can clean and jerk.

  • looks like over training of squats going on at the OTC. the contest is snatch, and clean and jerk, not squats.

  • @MrOnceinside Valid point- but the point behind it is that you squat to get stronger!

Not trying to argue, but just that's from my PoV, and how many other people see it as well I believe

  • @bighunt63 To overtrain in the squat as though you're a powerlifter or body builder who only do squats once a week, or twice a month is not good. The best in the world focus more on front squats, and snatch squats, and only train their squats at or just over the level of their clean and jerks.

  • @MrOnceinside Look up Bulgarian training method, one of the most successful countries in olympic liftin. John Broz uses it and he has some of the best weightlifters in the states. Also back squats are directly applicable to the snatch as the weight is over your upper back as where it would be during a backsquat rather than front squats which are applicable to the clean.

  • @MrOnceinside This is not true at all. There are some top lifters who do front squats exclusively but there are plenty who do back squats regularly, at much higher weights than they clean and jerk. Most US lifters can't squat anywhere close to what top international competition is capable of, so they need to be "overtraining squats."

  • @MrOnceinside you are so wrong

  • I am jared the guy squating the 230x5 to answer your question yes its 230 lol. and at 91kg, i did 158 and 193 at jws.

  • is that 230 x 5? that's quite the squat strength.

  • How long have the Barnes boys been there? Are they planning on staying?

  • @uwpowerlifting they arent there

  • Love the training videos!!

  • Great stuff, please keep it up!

  • ya keep posting. i might move to california in a couple years and was wondering what you guys charge to have people lift there, at that time i should be doing 155/ 160 and 180/190 at 94kg if those are good enough numbers to lift there

  • @olympicweightlifter The OTC is in Colorado and you have to be invited to train there. 160 and 190 are the current bests of the #1 94k lifter in the country. 165 is the American record Snatch.

  • I hope you guys keep posting these!!

  • Fantastic!!! Super intense! I love it! -Luis
