Thanks for upsifting this, Mr connected365. That was the best gig I'd been to for years. Seeing the magic Magic Band after all those years was intensely moving. And my then 20-year-old jazz musician daughter thought it was 'Wicked'. I was so sorry when they had to disband.
Thanks - I thought it was a tremendous gig too. It was totally unexpected and incredibly powerful for me when JF put down the sticks and came out to sing. I just wish Sure 'Nuff 'N Yes I Do had been in the set. Too bad we won't see them again...
Go to the 10 Years Of ATP section, click 'line up' and their name is a little more than halfway down the list. Unfortunately. the festival looks like it's sold out.
its tough to tell whether this is a heartfelt tribute or just a bunch of guys ripping off their old boss. they certainly sound like the magic band and drumbo does a pretty good vocal imitation, but there's something about this that bothers me.
No magic whatsoever without the Captain. Like a price fighter going on for too long & becoming soft n punch drunk, they obviously did need beefy's intensity & brow beating.
This is the thing... it's an impossible task - so should be left well alone. Personally I think it's dreadful, and it does make me cross :( Drumbo's voice is thin, reedy and rubbish by comparison to the Captain.
Good video however, no disrespect to yourself in any way! :)
No disrespect taken - disagree totally though. The band live were pulverizing; unfortunately you can't get this across on utube. It's not the Captain but I was at the gig and when they played this I wanted to cry :-)
I agree. Saw these guys at Bridgewater Hall Mancs UK a while ago. Its known as a crap venue for amplified music ( it is acoustically designed for classical)The Magic Band just lit the place up man. Great music, and great people - all the guys in that band have a huge spirit
That's so good :D Except no-one can beat Beefheart's vocals!

that was respectful and extremely funky. Regards to the Captain, even if he could not be here to expand on this moment.

I was actually expecting a lot of more that. He does a pretty good job of an impossible task so best to keep an open mind
