vsync means that you will only get a max frame rate, depending on the refresh rate of your monitor. Most monitors are 60Hz. Which isn't very good...

@IceMunga And if your framerate doesn't reach that refresh rate, it gets cut at certain intervals. So if V-Sync is on and you normally get ~51 FPS, it gets cut to 30. Or something like that, don't know the exact details. It CAN cut your framerate by as much as 50% though, that I do know.
