I first heard this sad song when I was a little girl. My mum had it on an old 45 playing and I was hooked by his pleading voice, even at that young age lol. Still love it today as a 39 year old. They just don't make songs like this anymore :-(

I've checked out a few versions of this song. This the version I remember listening to on my AM transister radio. FM was very rare back in the day. M aybe your uncle had it and listened to classical music!! LOL

Big hit in 1959, I think. My Dad taught me the chords on his guitar -- my first song. Simple stuff, he said. He actually like Anka's "Love You in the Same Old Way." Paul wrote some nice tearful teen stuff.

i remember im just 7 yrs old when i first hear this way back 1984 its on all over the radio in philippines lol every sunday its a retro and oldies :) in philippines
