Its not a Real Live Katana Blade, Its a dull Iaito training Sword and give respect to Johnathon for the many years of hard work and practice to compete in this XMA competition. The Dude was Ranked #1 in the world in this event for many years until he left the seen. A Real Katana Master is Japanese MA, Fumon Tanaka. He is deadly with just about all forms of Japanese Samurai Weaponry, Watch a few of his Video's.
i was kinda hate it when people started to compare this with real battle. there is obviously no way a swordsman will let go or throwing away their sword. this is just a dance, meant to entertain your eyes with stunning reflex and agility. so stop acting like you've been on real battle before and posting annoying comments.

It looks great but what if that sword slips or snaps with all those people near? Everyone makes a mistake once in a while. Could be a real mess even if that blade isn't sharp. Maybe put these dancers in a plex glass box.

Sword Dancing with the Stars. 'Might as well have been holding a cheerleader's baton. I don't see anything that will help me survive 5 seconds with an iaijutsu master or a Tai Chi Swordsman. Entertaining show though, judging from the cheers of the audience who are non the wiser.
I would be more impressed with this if it were done in silence, with no death screams and pounding music....and that's saying something because I love slayer!

I see plenty of people twirl spears around and do all kinds of "kenjutsu-like" things but as soon as they get into a real fight with it they don't know what to do. They didn't practice all the time on how to block, parry, do a proper cut, or evade from being cut, they practiced on how to twirl a stick around.

Everyone that is trolling this vid has never studied a sword form. When I studied, the full form was against 100 men, so I was always turning to strike. But that is only for the new enemy, because the old guy is in half.

certainly the title is misleading, but calling it gymnastics or dancing is also ignorant on your part. no aspects of this form is related to gymnastics or acrobatics whatsover - the guy stays on his feet; and dancers dont flail a weapon around. this is more towards open forms category and is meant to display the mastery of handling the weapon.

ok for all who think this is sh** . 1. ok this is no traditional samurai form 2. this is a great performance of speed and control. 3. this is just a martial arts show to impress people. 4. take your swoard and try to move it this fast, and kick around and throw it in the air without cutting your ears off.

aww man this is the best! you guys just dont understand! he has developed a form for killing a bird (the first throw) and then a fuck tone of mosquitoes. of cause such an amazing and powerful form can only be accomplished after a solid 52 seconds of walking around like a twat, and drawing the symbol of an imputent god on your chest.

Everyone that is trolling this vid has never studied a sword form. When I studied, the full form was against 100 men, so I was always turning to strike. But that is only for the new enemy, because the old guy is in half.

I'm sorry, it was certainly not a bad XMA form. but anything XMA can never be considered a Kata that a samurai would perform. The sword is meant to cut, not to be thrown and spun around like a baton.

The sholin munks put on yearly street shows to try and get new students. if you would learn from a real master, or at least research things instead of listening to every piece of crap that comes out of your masters ass, you would know that. and the reason for tournaments like this one is to try and draw in new students (normally). Plus there's something else you simps don't realize. Not all samurai were wealthy. Not all who wielded the katana were called Samurai, they were Ronin. To earn money to pay for boat fare across rivers and to other islands, they would exploit impractical katas as exhibition to perform in the streets for money. Some might not work in real fights, but it looks impressive as hell. Just wtf is wrong with you haters? You trollin' or just that stupid?

Except for twirling it in the air, all his moves are up to par with real swordplay. Plus take into account his speed and reaction time, this guy has the potential to claim the lives of real samurai and most of todays formal practitioners of swordplay because they practice technique in slow-motion and never use a suburito for strength and conditioning to apply their techniques at such a fast pace. You want his head cut off? Why don't you pussies go try it yourself.

certainly the title is misleading, but calling it gymnastics or dancing is also ignorant on your part. no aspects of this form is related to gymnastics or acrobatics whatsover - the guy stays on his feet; and dancers dont flail a weapon around. this is more towards open forms category and is meant to display the mastery of handling the weapon.
