First, I must say I love the style I try to make my kicks straight because kicks are much harder to swing quickly through when they're bent so they are harder to pull back in the roda which is basically an invitation to get my ass swept but bent kicks are a lot more effective(more torque)
a little more control, but it's nice to see more women doing capoeira. this was two years ago, i hope you can post up a follow up vid of you if you're still doing capoeira
Since they are both (in part ) from Brazil, It seems that Capoeira has had an effect on Brazilian Jiujitsu. Gracie style uses a sort of reverse negativa to get up from the ground & a sort of modified "wheel barrel"style rev angola negativa/role (back on floor, opposite shoulder & foot as pivot points)to bump & roll someone over & get the dominant position in grappeling (then execute a submission, like "americana" or "cross gi or shirt" choke).
Pilates Or Callanetics is really good for strengthening the core muscles too (Great add on to Martial arts training). Add some Gracie Jiujitsu & you have a good sytem for all martial dimensions.
Re: 0:17-0:23 Good ground transition ! Very cool. Way to go!
not all the time. hate to be the barrier of bad news.. but watch the most advanced.. playing regional. their legs dont go back after an armada... they form combinations , dont be a hater
I´m not a hater pequena, i just try to give u some points to enhance your abilityes, I think i can say after more than 10 years playing capoeira, but i do not say nothing about armada/martelo , problem is with passa pé i.e, u should hold ur leg a bit more, put legs firm while kicking, while in ginga, try to give 90ª to your position, u´ll evade easier ;) And most important ALWAYS look to the front
GL in ur trainings, Keep on the good work, but correct your mistakes.
Grlisha, not always, it depends on the moment, i.e. if the one in front of you is so close and you take your leg back, he can use "desequilibrante" or a "queda", tessoura...
Butterfly, how many time have you been practicing?
@butterfleyem8 definately butterfleyem's right.the leg doesn't have to go necessarily back after every kick.it can go to parallel or cadera and create different sequences. she's got style!
Nor oriental techniques in history of capoeira, what do u mean?
Nothing bad to say about your capoeira, but it seems like u are throwing kicks form another martial arts, just correct that and u will have a very good game. ;) (Just say ´cause that happened to me.)
No, she's correct, it is capoeira, it's just regional capoeira, capoeira came from no other martial arts, it was invented in prison by slaves who had no martial arts training or connection to anyone who did have.
Music in video is capoeira angola, Capoeira origins are unknown, probably was created in senzalas or fazendas, but real origin is unknown. Historians believesit comes from the dance of the zebra in Africa, which a war dance.
well they did have some martial arts training, but they weren't allowed to use it when they were brought to brazil. so they disguised it. which gave the world an incredible martial art.
All kicks, from all martial arts, will always look similar because there are only so many ways the human leg can move. Just because you learned it as karate or taekwondo doesn't make them exclusive skills from those schools.
No m8, there´s a diference between diferent styles, if you have practiced several amrtial arts you are able to know them, martelo in capoeira should be more balanced between upper body and leg, it´s not bad criticism, just was a tip, a trick, if you get down your body while martelo you will not receive a counter attack.
Timing is important too, or you will take a rastreira, and i just said it ´cause I think she can be good practicing capoeira, surely sha has corrected that now.
Keep going girl- it's good. You'll continue to grow, get better, become cleaner- we ALL trip, stumble and have hitches in our game. But your hearts desire to be better is what I see- so don't hide that light. Keep staying the course! Namaste-Atlas
