Here in the U.S.A. for example, it is in our Constitution that states that if we see our government acting in a way that puts it's people at risk of anything either it be our freedoms and rights being removed. we have the full birth-given right to remove this faulty government in armed conflict.
Look at the laws! The US government can not use our military to control the people (you and I) of the US. They want you to think that, but they can't. And as far as marshal law, the government will lose all hope to restore, no one will listen or trust the government ever again. So really its a lose- lose situation for the government. Stop letting the government think they can push you around!!!

Ask yourself,how many people could you field today if you had to?
How disciplined are they?
Do you have a chain of command?
People should be allowed to keep their guns as far as I'm concerned,but if you think that's all that's keeping the government from oppressing you,I suggest you talk to David Koresh,or Randy Weaver.

Vietnam is a good example of rag tag militia stopping our better equipped and trained military, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc are all perfect examples of smaller less equipped military forces defeating a better equipped force. Don't fool yourself, you don't win the war outright unless your lucky ,but by attrition. And our government won't use all those weapons against the people since it would create more rebels. You don't use nukes on your own land either.

They have magical powers to just zap out all the insurgents... because its obviously what has been working so well in Iraq for the last 5 years of occupation. American's by in large probably have more formal weapons training and practice and better small arms then iraqi militia/insurgent forces. There also is no law stating you can't own a nuke, just like explosives I am sure there is some process to go through to own one!
