People are really odd with their bikes. This is a D series with a hand operated centre stand, easily operated from astride the bike. Why get off the bike to take it off the centre stand then remount and then use the handle to retract it. Most odd. And veyron, he has one Black Lightning and the reason it didn't have an expansion chamber is because its a FOUR stroke.
Absolutely outstanding. There's a great scale model of this one in 1:12 (about five inches long) from a company called Minichamps. I've got a vid on my page. One of my favorite bikes of all time.
Wow...I've wanted a Black Shadow since my early 20's. I met Jay Leno once when he was riding his Black Knight up in the Santa Monica hills. Great motorcycles, and I agree that they're one of the best-engineered bikes ever made. I wish someone was making a good modern reproduction!
Hi, look out for the Irving Vincent road bikes. They are similar to cafe racers, except with a modified 1,300cc series B Rapide engine & Ohlins suspension.Plus disc brakes too.
wen i went to a vintage motorbike meet down here in little river (australia), there wa sa guy with two black lightnings, straight pipes, no expansion chamber, ogtta be the best sounding bike ive ever heard, he started both, were wayyyyy louder than this
Back in the 60's I saw a guy start a bike on the stand, like in this vid. But his bike was in gear. He wanked the throttle a few times, pushed it off the stand and the bike shot out like a sacred rabbit. He kept control but had a stupid scared look on his face.

Such a beautiful machine. As a kid on the West Coast of British Columbia there used to be a club dedicated to Vincent motorcycles.
I remember the lacquer black and gleaming chrome and the awe that these machines commanded!
If it looks right it is right and such it was with Vincent!
