I have a Dimarzio Reference. While the reference never sounded super acoustic, I honestly think the reference sounds much better compared to this. This is nice too, but I am not sure the logic behind making it go with a piezo (I think a sound board transducer would have made much more sense). I never liked the quack that piezo produced.
The magnetic soundhole pickup looks an awful lot like a LR Baggs M1a, (the Takamine TriAx is a licensed variation of the Baggs.) Makes me wonder... The sound quality on this video is pretty bad, needs some serious EQ'ing. Electric players should learn how to get a good sound out of acoustics... Anyway, Dimarzio makes a lot of great products, I wonder how it'll sound properly EQ;d and in person.

@PhilipPorter when guitar strings acoustic or electric sit too low to the fretboard sometime when u press them they buzz against the fret. just replaced a string on my fender and it does that while all the others dont. but at closer inspection it sits lower than the others
One thing i dont like about acoustic pickups and electric acoustic guitars is that they sound too stringy.I like the sound of an acoustic guitar thats played in person all naturally, thats why I like micing an acoustic guitar because it brings out the warmth of the woods out that electric acoustic and acoustic pickups can't get.
this is really cool...i thought for a second that the guitar was mic'd...but wow...that pickup system is really right on with the sound of a mic'd acoustic...i want it now
I really like it , as we know wood used on the guitar is very important to match the tone would love to put one of these into my electrics for a great acoustic tone but thats wishful thinking. a Piezo bridge seems the better option.
Ok who exactly are you trying to defend?, DiMarzio for sucking at acoustic pickups or Guitar World for sucking at demos?, because I'm pretty sure we've seen acoustic demos that sound far superior to this one, and they're pretty old by now, and what's up with "try it yourself"?, come on, I'm watching an online demo for Christ sake, why do you think I'm doing that?! -_-

Sounds like shit to me... Better use a mic. Dimarzio should stay producing ToneZone :* :* :* And other electric guitar pickups. This is my opinion.

@PhilipPorter That's the strings buzzing against the frets. They also do it if you hit the strings hard

The pick-up just makes the guitar sound too thin and trebly...I like a little bit more Bass and mids in my Amplified acoustic.

The pickups sound great, but they have to put more atention in the guitar.

@AcousticBeaver You're listening to a YouTube video uploaded by Guitar World.
It's had more compression than a sofa cushion with Oprah sitting on it.
