  • The statue of Liberty was given by the French to the U.S.as a gift. During the French revolution they used her to represent the Godess of reason and secular thinking. She was modeled after the Roman goddess Libertas and was honored during the second Punic War set up in a temple on the Aventine Hill in Rome. Libertas or "Liberty" was in turn fashioned after the Babylonia Goddess Ishtar "The Lightbringer" the High-Mother-Goddess.

    Note that the statue of Liberty or Ishtar also holds a light !
