Man, i'm a guitarrist and I play Dream Theater, Symphony X, Angra.. that kind of stuff.... and i gotta say.. i consider your song Prog Metal... and it's an AWESOME song.. it makes dream theater look lame.. cause the song isn't annoyingly virtuous but it's prog man.. awesome! congratz!
Seriously, it's a crime that you aren't famous. You make some of the most beautiful music i have ever heard. I love how you make lots of different genres, but i really think you should go for progressive rock/metal, Lonely starlight and beside me are your most awesome songs! All your other stuff is awesome too though.

The drumming on this album is, for me, impossible to comprehend. I tried playing along to several of the tracks and I just couldn't keep up with his approach to the songs. Hats off to David Schlein!

Du låter as lik James LaBrie :D, det var så att jag har en Dream Theater Blu-ray så jag tänkte fört att han lät lite likt dig ... måste bara säga att denna låt är sjukt bra :)
@isse94movie Yeah they do, look closer, Its about a race of beings whos home way destroyed, and it describes the uneasy journey and doubts they had that they would find somewhere to live, lonely due to the emptiness of space, then at the end
A sphere bathed in blue and green
With water and air so clean
EARTH, it sounds very similar to people in war torn country who emigrates abroad to escape conflict, think of the story through a childs eyes and relate it to earth for an easier understanding.
I love this album. It's still my favorite album right now, and I got it the day it came out! Very nicely done my friend. :) I love that part during the second bridge when the time signature changes each bar from 15/8 to 14/8 to 13/8 to 12/8, and then back into 13/8 xD Although, the last chorus is definitely the most epic part. Awesome job man!
I've heard this many, many times over and over again since first I heard it. Still it amazes me. Absolutely wonderful, masterfully produced, one of my favorite songs without a doubt.
@Freddie25 I LOOOVE your stuff! I've noticed something about your singing though, you don't sing with vibrato. Is that just an artistic decision, or what? I find it curious. There are a few parts in some of your songs where I feel a little vibrato in your voice would sound great, but I still love your singing anyway, it's an interesting difference.
@DELTAFORCEADC He recorded the video after he recorded the real drum parts that are actually on the album. These parts are REALLY complicated so I would never expect him to be able to play them exactly the same every time :P
@NotMachinima *Ahem* Have you ever heard of what "dream theater" used to be? It's a group called "Liquid Tension Experiment" (LTE). Dream Theater was what used to be LTE. LTE released two albums (I think) and are the best metal type band ever. Plus they don't do lyrics.
@cowsnmonkees... "AHEM"! LTE is not what DT used to be. LTE is a side project of Mike portnoy's, back in 1997. Initially Mike originally wanted to keep the project completely separate from DT (He asked Dimebag and Steve Morse before even considering JP). Jordon didn't join DT until after LTE 1. Nobody else from DT is in LTE. Oh, and there are 4 LTE albums. Liquid tension 1 and 2, Liquid trio 1 and 2.
Love your album man, it is so awesome! This is one of my favourite songs though I do love all of them! Is the time signature in 13/8 all the way through?
@Greenie369 Basically, yes. :) Many songs on the album are using that time signature, and in general, I'm trying to avoid normal 4/4. That's why the album title is fitting, as I see it.
@zamusician How was the 13/8 time grouped?, was my question. If it's just one long stream of notes, people lose interest, so musicians tend to pulse certain beats. So one grouping for 13/8 might be 123,123,123,12,12 (with pulses on 1). There's a lot of combinations that could be used (and sometimes it might be easier to just use a 9/8 and then a 2/4 bar, depending).
@VeritasUnae Oh, that's what you were asking. I perceive it as a bar of 5/8 and a bar of 4/4, and the 5/8 bar is grouped into 3/8 and 2/8. So, 123 12 12345678 is how I perceive it. Though, it would suck to wrtie the sheet music for it and constantly switch between bars of 5/8 and 4/4, so 13/8 is much more convenient xD
@JuWuMusic Most of the time, it's counted as a bar of 6/8, then a bar of 7/8. The subdivision kinda changes throughout. The way i find it best is during the opening, to count it as 6/8 7/8, but then once it hits 0:17, start counting it as 13/4, meaning that each not you count is twice as long a the way you were counting previously. It starts subdividing really easily during that part
A song you have to "practice" listening to. With enough practice you'll find it's one of the best modern prog rock/metal songs in existence. And the album offers much more of this excellence.
Awesome song Fredde! The instrumentals completely blew me away. I would love to see you produce more high-energy stuff like this. Keep up the good work man!
@goldenmage I wrote the lyrics, but have never heard Coheed and Cambria. I just searched them, and see they do concept albums based on sci-fi. I got the idea for this song when Fredrik sent me the music he had recorded. Upon hearing it, I had impressions of "flight" and "escape". I formed a story about people who leave their homeland, decimated by war and neglect, to find a new home. It would seem like they're on ocean ships, but the twist at the end shows they actually left their home planet.
@ottomarcos I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I'm not accusing you of copying C&C, I just admire the fact that the lyrical styles are similar. I've always been a fan of concept albums and songs, and this was right up my alley. In fact, the music is also quite progressive as well. Good job to the both of you! Keep up the awesome work!
@goldenmage It's cool; I didn't take your comment that way. I'd heard of C&C, but didn't know what they were about, so I was curious. I've always been interested in the creative process, and how ideas happen. I even took a class in college on creativity and creative thinking. So, I explained my process here. Fredrik originally thought this tune might be a sort of love song, but when I heard it, I got a completely different vibe from it, which he liked, and it worked. Thanks for your remarks!

@zamusician How was the 13/8 time grouped?, was my question. If it's just one long stream of notes, people lose interest, so musicians tend to pulse certain beats.
