This performance is beautiful. Saw Kaiser at Tonic a while back. Anyone know a site where I can keep on top of Henry Kaiser performance dates and locations? As with many non-commercial artists, it is hard to stay on top of, with his own website being among the least helpful (last update Sept. 2007).

Yes, Legeti was there - caught all these greats in a crappy dive bar (while Brittney Spears is in stadiums)! Man, though, it's hard to catch them in NYC so good luck in Sao Paulo.  On another note I need to get down to Sau Paulo and a handful of other cities in Brazil like Rio, Curitiba, and Brasilia to study my main interests of city and regional planning (especially mass transit planning) and jiu-jitsu!

Here's a suggestion: skip Rio - there's nothing in Rio to do nor see - just to get mugged. And the heat, during this time of year, is absolutely unbearable. And carioca transit and urban planning are a total disaster, complete caos. São Paulo...of mild interest. But Curitiba, for what you want to see, is the city to go. Decent city, very well-planned, a sort of tropical version of vancouver.

No... but I am entitled to my opinion. Via, Johnson and Satriani have all been mining the same area for a long time and haven't really stepped out of their comfort zones.

Sure, Kaiser is channeling some John Lee Hooker early on but he also switches into Robert Fripp mode later on and that to me is far more interesting.

Via, Johnson and Satriani are all great technicians but they are all a little academic for my liking. The last thing I heard that Via did that touched me was a PIL album.
