why dont you put the verse before it to explain that verse better. "If you continue in my word then are you my disciple then you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

I never heard that Jesus said: I Jesus am the way, the truth and life, no one comes to the father then by me. I guess he said: I (not: I Jesus). The question then is to which I principle he is referring. I guess it must be the I', that not the I of the personality, but the I which is for each and everybody on the whole world the same. So I guess this common shared I is the way to the father, and not some historical person who was only pointing it out for us.
You can delete our whole discussion as far as I am concerned. I accidentely came at this clip, because I was searching for a gospelsong called: "The truth will set you free".;-)
confusing story. One thing brought up here is the item of terrorizing children. I think No one should tell any innocent kid that someone died for there sins! That's great poison to the innocent mind of a child. It is a kind of sick. The child might start to think that he or she is a horrible person, why otherwise you kill someone for him or she. Nothing to do with Jesus, but only with a story some people made up once, about the expected purpose of the crusifixion of Jesus.
While I respect your right to your opinion, I assume you realize that your viewpoint stands in start contradiction to 2000 years of Christian orthodoxy.
The fact is we are all born as "horrible" (sinful) people, a fact that causes unbelievers to stumble over the truth of the gospel.
I try to point out that it is this 2000 years old Christian orthodox church, which tried to impose on us, that we are sinners by birth. By excepting and believing this believe, that same church had us by the balls. If we are sinners by birth, it is easy to hate ourself, and then we have to go to that same church (that imprisoned us by that "we are sinners"believe), and hope it can help us to set us free again.
Church will set nobody free. In fact, people can become more enslaved by church UNLESS the church points people to Jesus Christ, the only true Liberator. I would never encourage any unbeliever to hate himself, only to recognize that a perfect God loves imperfect, sinful man enough that He took upon Himself the consequence of our sin. I wonder if you've been wounded by the church world. (You sound angry.) If so, don't confuse misbehaving religious people with the loving Christ. They hurt him too.

He didn't say I "IS" the way, but I "AM" the way, an obvious reference to Himself.

"I Am" is true for you and for me, and for everybody. It seems to me, that Jesus suggest to focus on that "I amness".

If your logic were true, He would have said, "I Am IS the way."
Anyway, this is leading nowhere. I'm done. Thanks for posting your opinion :)
