FYI, more F-18s (bro) on the Courage to Stand commercial, at about 44 seconds in. Heaven knows T-Paw likes his recycled imagery with the awe-inspiring music. I think it's all the tiger blood.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must go fix my car tire from all the Minnesota potholes I've gone through this winter.
@phlotis that comment was a huge Charlie Sheen reference. That, and T-Paw's marketing staff really like flying jets. More recycled F-18 at 0:44 into the Courage to Stand book commercial. Unfortunately, the staffers got smart on that video and are moderating comments.
I think he's about as self righteous and out of touch as Mr Sheen. As a proud Minneapolis resident, I just shook my head at the news. What an odd state, politically, Minnesota is!
Yeah, he limited government - and refused on multiple occasions to allow modest increases on gas taxes that would have paid for road and bridge maintenance - well the whole country saw I-35W crash into the Mississippi River. Her in MN, we've seen our property taxed rocket upward as he refused to help cities - all the while crowing that HE didn't raise taxes - guess what? My total tax bill is up. Timmy just passed the buck to the communities. He's just another flim-flam artist. Good riddance.
CATO gave Pawlenty an A grade of 66, the third highest on their scorecard. He even seems like a nice guy. What I don't agree on, is foreign policy. I would support a less trigger-happy foreign policy, one where Congress declares war before sending troops into harm's way. What does Pawlenty think about Obama authorizing war in Libya all by himself? Does he think that was constitutional?
uhmm what got us into the recession was a lack of government intervention,
government spending is important, because if you decrease that you have to increase taxes ( increasing taxes is worse) to prevent government deficiets,
@MADxx Jobs are going overseas because of high corporate taxes and too many regulations. Democrats like both. The more citizens pay in taxes the fewer liberties they have. I'm afraid you have this backwards.
My family has met this man, and he was present at a military funeral here in MN. His behavior was that of a man who genuinely cares about the people. He is not arrogant at all, unlike our current president who always seems to be talking down his nose at people. He may not be perfect, but I think he would be good for the country. This is just an announcement that he will be running. It is not intended to tell you everything about him. Do your own research! He is a good man!
@AmiraSparrow You can't base your opinion about how this guy would serve as President based on what your impression of him was when you met in person. Had you you or I met George W. Bush before he ran for president, we probably would have had a great impression of him too. You do your own research as well, he is not a good man.
T Paw was a great governor. Dayton will run MN into the ground with incredibly burdensome taxes. T Paw would bring some common sense and fiscal responsibility to Washington. I think he would be a great President or Vice President.
It should be noted that Pawlenty currently trails Obama 14 points in a 2012 poll, so I say to my Republican friends, please vote for Tim Pawlenty! And don't forget to recruit that Alaskan mama grizzly for VP to spice the ticket up!
Also, why does Pawlenty continue to tag Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Barbour, Christie, and gang in his videos? If you want to stand up for America, you need to be a man that America would be proud to call their president worldwide.
Tim Pawlenty is no charismatic enough, cannot raise enough money, realistically, to beat President Obama, aside from the fact he would not stand a chance in a debate, and 2012 is just not his year in my opinion. It is going to come down to money and electability, not to mention, in my opinion one of the greatest candidates we could ever have, Mitt Romney. Perhaps a VP slot for Pawlenty, but I am not sure what he would bring to the table that others already wouldn't. I am sorry, respectfully.
Congrats to Tim Pawlenty on his announcement--this is a brave step for him personally (politics is ugly, the mud is being slung already!) and a huge step for MN. Pawlenty is a charismatic and highly intelligent person and politician who explains things well so that everyday people can understand. We need to support our conservative candidates and pull together for 2012. God save us if we end up with the president we already have for another 4 years. I don't think our country can survive that.
Don't know about his record in MN but damn good video.
To the idiot who thought Reagan ruined the country, go back to minecraft you boob. Look at what Carter did, realize that most of things democrats take credit for Republicans past (civil rights was vetod by LBJ, balanced budget was VETO'd by Clinton)
How about everyone read history, think for yourselves and then if you can vote democrat in 2012 so be it.... afterall, some people are just stupid
government getting in the way? the real "getting in the way" is the transfer of wealth from the poor & middle classes to the rich. It's been jump-started since senile Reagan took over; and the reich-wing a-holes ever since have been keeping it up (esp under Dumbya Bush).
I enjoyed watching this ad. It was kinda like Glory meets presidential politics from 1:14 onwards. I'm sure Palwenty's a decent guy.
....too bad Bush ruined it for anyone else who's to become president after him...Democrat or Republican. I can't believe that the USA had a president sooo bad, that he destroyed his own country in less than 8 years.
This guy thinks hes got a chance. LOL! There isn't much hope for a country who voted in a guy who had no experience at all just for the nice things he was saying, which consisted of nothing more than Hope, and Change. He even got a peace prize for it. Sorry potentially awesome presidential contenders, but you experience and leadership is invalid in this day an age.
Go T-Paw, represent Minnesota! Wow, do we miss him now, with Dayton as governor. I think he would destroy Obama in 2012. Pawlenty/ Herman Cain ticket.
All of the money this man will raise (and waste) could be better spent elsewhere. Two terms as governor and he has next to nothing to show for it. He's pandering to the South, and his own state doesn't even like him all that much.
I have been following this Guy ever since his appearance on The Veiw when it was insinuated that he may run and I absolutely Love this guy for President .. He is just what we need !!!
I'm going to judge the candidates by their records, statements and actions, not by generic promotional videos. Obama's campaign was all flash and nothing substantive. Let's not make the same mistake again of choosing a president based on emotions and feelings, rather than principles and record.
@perezDeSanFernando Excellent, hope we have some with a good record to go with, all it was before was just flash.. doesn't matter to me either which party they come from, just desire someone with depth and real ideas and answers and actually follows though.
I myself would actually like to work more for MY KIDS, then the lazy and the leeches of society. If you can't bring yourself to do an honest days work, then I have nothing to give you: no money, no pity, not even a shoulder or ear to for you to vent on how hard your life is. @3botts said "If you can't bring yourself to do an honest days work, then I have nothing to give you" You are so right. So first, lets kick all the old people off Medicare; no job, no insurance! As a Minnesotan I saw firsthand what Pawlenty did for our state. Although I wasn't old enough to vote when he ran, I'm proudly going to vote for him in the upcoming elections.

Can some one, any one, list me 3 things this man has accomplished? Not trying to bash him, but I really have never heard of him or anything significant he has achieved.
Young people like me just getting their first job need an America that creates opportunity. An America built on freedom, where government does not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned and does not demonize success. Overnight success somehow always follows decades of hard work and preparation. Debt is slavery. Thank God Republicans have one serious candidate. If you don't want to pay off other people's debt your whole life, consider investing in Tea-Paw.
Pawlenty accomplished great things in Minnesota despite the fact that it's a liberal state. He overcame that to enact a conservative agenda. If he can persuade Minnesota voters to go along with him, he can persuade American voters.

@sinash pretty sure he mentioned limited government a few times, you can pretty much assume from there what his response will be on most of the issues.
@jukiluti Nope. I don't know what he means when he says such. What is "limited government?" What is HIS definition of that? How will that be accomplished? As is, its hust an ethereal objective. I'd like to hear some substance.
@bigredgma Tim Pawlenty is a great man... he has served and lead Minnesota humbly and wonderfully for the last 8 years and he would not disappoint as president, I can assure you!!

"We the people of the United States will take back our government. This is our country"? I thought the country belonged to all Americans, but apparently you think Republicans are the rightful owners. Nice dog whistle Pawlenty. I wish you much failure in your run for president.
@hdbtftsg freedom and capitalism is when americans run their country. American's don't run their country when 51% of the people vote for bureaucrats to make decisions for 100% of America.
@jukiluti Actually democracy is when Americans run this country. They voted, and you didn't like the result. That isn't America not being America. That is you having sour grapes.
Other reasons that the others aren't as good a choice as Tim is lack of experience, not quite ready for prime time, like Bobby Jindal. We need also a powerful conservative VP choice, Tim. Also, Christie was out promoting Imam Rauf's Muslim Center in a building in which 1 of the planes destroyed the top floors on 9/11. Rauf refused to characterize Hamas as a terrorist orgainzation. Rauf sites as "a world renowned jurist" Terrorist Sheik Yousef Al-Qaradhawi youtube.com/watch?v=-BH5SCUg3r8
I've heard sound bites over the months. I don't know what it was that made me feel this way, but Tim Pawlenty was the only person who sounded like our winner. I'm so happy that he's strongly considering throwing his hat in the ring. I like a lot of the others but they all have negatives that are fair or unfair. Christie cozies up to Islam, appointing a terrorist backing Judge to a high court in NJ, Palin is the most unfairly tarnished WonderAmerican in history, the same for the others. Go Tim!
