It's wrong to say John Force was "doing his job" - at least I've always considered drag racing - especially the pros - as a sport of honor. We loan parts to our competitors and we play fair. He does put people in the stands and I've paid to watch him and his teammates. But not by gaming the system. 3 cars out of 4 in the stupid countdown is enough - they got their honestly. Baseball players using steroids put people in the seats too. Damn it...race....the best car / driver wins.

Like most blogs it's difficult to have an intelligent conversation. I'm 63 years old, was part owner of a drag strip in the east coast, ran an A/FA as time and money allowed. The next time you're at a race - get a professional driver aside - without camera or mike and ask them what they think of NHRA management. You'll hear - they are awful - only look out for themselves. The sport is in trouble. Look at the quality of the "filler cars" - it's weak - especially Top Fuel. Force was wrong

I'm a Force fan and it's obvious to me that he took a dive on this one - and it's not the first time. He gave a race away several years ago, I think it was Denshem back when Denshem badly needed a sponsor. Force had already clinched up his umpteenth championship and red lit big time. After the race he got in front of the camera and said the man really needed a sponsor.
I don't like it but the bottom line is it's all about position and money. Pedregon's would have done the same thing.

There is just no way Hight would have just sat there on the line unless he knew before hand that he was going to be given the race. Anyone that thinks otherwise is letting their pro-Force bias get the best of their judgment. If you can't see the reality of what happened it is only because you choose not to.
I don't care how many years some people here have been drag racing, if you can't see that Force threw this race you are blind as a bat. He is the only driver with lane choice to take that lane, he has the slowest reaction time of anyone in the entire event on that run, and Hight (who supposedly must "win" this round to get into the top ten) has a reaction time that would have resulted in him getting left in the dirt if the driver in the other lane was actually competing against him.

It's a shame it came to this. John loved Tony like a son. I've had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Tony on many occasions and he is a class act. Whether it was at Tasca Ford or at the track, Tony was ALWAYS a great guy.

Congrats to Robert Hight on his first World Champ. as he all but has it wrapped up even before Pomona this weekend. Too bad John Force made his whole team including himself look like a bunch of pusses. I too, lost all my admiration for Team Force at Indy this year and sold all my Force memorbilia. I think NHRA needs a little more of this fighting action to make it more interesting. John Force Rocks, I have always been a huge fan. His daughter's are smoking hot also, so big prop's to him, he makes some great children.

Every racer can only do their best, and Robert Hight and Ashley Force can only do their very best. This is a dangerous sport and I doubt John Force would be going that fast and burn rubber with that intended speed toward a WALL Just for Robert... think about it.

funny thing, force was shooting his mouth off, and pushed the NHRA dudes 4 or 5 times, but he never really tried to grab Tony. And he knew he didn"t wanna. NHRA gave him a 10K fine for all that pushing. There was NOTHING from stoppping him from grabbing Tony. Except the thought of gettin' his ass whipped on ESPN. LOL

I use to be a huge John Force fan,but he's turned into the NHRA Madonna.His time has passed,he will never win another champion again,maybe as a team owner but not as a driver.John cheats from fuel mixture to weights it has happened in the pass several times.Tony being a former boxer he would have dropped John in a heart beat.John steal sponsorships behind other drivers.He did it ti Bazemore,Wilkerson the list goes on,on,on John is a cancer to NHRA out with old ,time for the new talent!!!

It's wrong to say John Force was "doing his job" - at least I've always considered drag racing - especially the pros - as a sport of honor. We loan parts to our competitors and we play fair. He does put people in the stands and I've paid to watch him and his teammates. But not by gaming the system. 3 cars out of 4 in the stupid countdown is enough - they got their honestly. Baseball players using steroids put people in the seats too. Damn it...race....the best car / driver wins.

Like most blogs it's difficult to have an intelligent conversation. I'm 63 years old, was part owner of a drag strip in the east coast, ran an A/FA as time and money allowed. The next time you're at a race - get a professional driver aside - without camera or mike and ask them what they think of NHRA management. You'll hear - they are awful - only look out for themselves. The sport is in trouble. Look at the quality of the "filler cars" - it's weak - especially Top Fuel. Force was wrong

I'm a Force fan and it's obvious to me that he took a dive on this one - and it's not the first time. He gave a race away several years ago, I think it was Denshem back when Denshem badly needed a sponsor. Force had already clinched up his umpteenth championship and red lit big time. After the race he got in front of the camera and said the man really needed a sponsor.
I don't like it but the bottom line is it's all about position and money. Pedregon's would have done the same thing.

There is just no way Hight would have just sat there on the line unless he knew before hand that he was going to be given the race. Anyone that thinks otherwise is letting their pro-Force bias get the best of their judgment. If you can't see the reality of what happened it is only because you choose not to.

I don't care how many years some people here have been drag racing, if you can't see that Force threw this race you are blind as a bat. He is the only driver with lane choice to take that lane, he has the slowest reaction time of anyone in the entire event on that run, and Hight (who supposedly must "win" this round to get into the top ten) has a reaction time that would have resulted in him getting left in the dirt if the driver in the other lane was actually competing against him.

Terryfan...hello? Of course Ashley won - no argument there. It's the tactic that John Force used to get Hight's car in the Countdown. Earlier in the year Tony took out his brother Cruz when he could have "taken a dive"...but he raced. And empahsis on RACED. That's what the sport is (should be) about. If NHRA turns into NASCAR it will be death of the pros. I don't even watch NASCAR anymoe to see which Hendrik car blocks out the smaller teams. I lost a lot of respect for Force
